Meeting the president
One sunny day in late January 2013 an old man approached the White
House from across Pennsylvania Avenue, where he'd been sitting on a park
bench. He spoke to the U.S. Marine standing guard and said, "I would
like to go in and meet with President Obama."
The Marine looked at the man and said, "Sir, Mr. Obama is no longer president and no longer resides here."
The old man said, "Okay," and walked away.
The
following day, the same man approached the White House and said to the
same Marine, "I would like to go in and meet with President Obama."
The Marine again told the man, "Sir, as I said yesterday, Mr. Obama is no longer president and no longer resides here."
The man thanked him and, again, just walked away.
The
third day, the same man once again approached the White House and spoke
to the same U.S. Marine, saying, "I would like to go in and meet with
President Obama."
The Marine, understandably agitated at this point,
looked at the man and said, "Sir, this is the third day in a row you
have come here asking to speak to Mr. Obama. I've told you already that
Mr. Obama is no longer the president and no longer resides here. Don't
you understand?"
The old man looked at the Marine and said, "Oh, I understand. I just love hearing it."
The Marine snapped to attention, saluted, and said, "See you tomorrow, sir."

The Pope and
Nancy Pelosi are on the same stage in front of a
huge crowd. The House
Speaker and His Holiness,
however, have seen it all before. To
make it a
little more interesting, the speaker says to the
Pope,
"Did you know that with just one little wave of my
hand
I can make every Democrat in the crowd
go
wild?"
He doubts it, so she
shows him.
Sure enough, the wave elicits
rapture and cheering from
every Democrat in the crowd. Gradually, the
cheering
subsides.
The Pope, not wanting to
be outdone by such a level of
arrogance, considers what he could do.
"That
was impressive", the Pope says, "but did you know
that
with just one little wave of MY hand I can make
EVERY person in the
crowd go crazy with joy? This joy
will not be a momentary display like
that of
your subjects, but will go deep into their hearts,
and
they will forever speak of this day
and
rejoice."
Pelosi seriously
doubts this, and says, "One
little wave of your hand and all people
will rejoice
forever? Show
me."
So the Pope
slapped her.

MY LIVING WILL
Last night my daughter and I were sitting in the family room and I said to
her, " never, never do I want to live in a vegetative state being kept alive
by some machine and fluids from a bottle, that's not the quality of
life I want in my old age.
If that ever happens to me, just pull the plug."
So my daughter got up, unplugged my computer and threw out my wine.
