New to Covers this year. I got rid of the local book last year too and started betting online too. Been reading a lot of the posts this fall, but haven't yet posted. I figured Week 5 was a good week to start putting some winners out there. NFL has treated me much better so far this year, but I'm feeling good about my college picks this week. College 15-19. down 9.9 units. NFL 9-5 up +5.2 units. Here they are with a brief write up:
Utah State (+24.5) 1 unit- quality dog, they will put up 17 at least which should be more then enough to cover.
Arkansas State (+22) 2 units- this is one of my best bets this week. Iowa is very solid obviously, but will give up a few plays in the passing game. Arkansas State will throw short and might be able to move the ball at times but both teams will keep the clock moving IMO. Sandwich game for Iowa between PSU and Michigan (HC). IF Iowa does get up 35-7 they will coast with backups in the 4th and there is a good chance for a backdoor cover even if Iowa gets ahead by the # at some point. Coach Ferentz doesn't run it up score. Iowa 27, Arkansas St. 13
Northwestern (+7) 1 unit - I just like the dog in this one. Short trip down I-65 for NW and I see it coming down to a FG something like that.
Army (-6) 1 unit - Run, run, run. Tulane will give up 250 on the ground and Army will pull ahead by 2 TDs in the 4th quarter.
Cincinnati (-29) 1 unit - they can and will hang 50+ on Miami Oh. Should be enough to cover.
Duke (+18) 1 unit - hoping VT comes out flat early kickoff and Duke doesn't turn the ball over and keeps it close. I hate 1st half or 2nd half bets, but did put 1/2 unit on Duke 1st half (+10 +100)
Miami (+7) I haven't placed this one yet, but something just calling out to me that the U will show up on primetime at home. I'm thinking they get a big play late to either win or keep it very very close.
