I'm not sure if anyone has posted this site before but I came across this a while ago and thought I should share it with everyone. Some great performances mainly filmed in Paris by Vincent Moon.
I wish more artists would do this type of thing. I usually end up enjoying these types of performances more than the album versions. Just seems like they put a little something extra into these.
Some highlights to check out:
Delta Spirit - Trashcan
Plants & Animals - Bye, Bye, Bye
The Tallest Man On Earth - The Gardener
Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
Fleet Foxes - Sun Giant/Blue Ridge Mountains
Bon Iver - Part 1 & Part 2
Seasick Steve
Pigeon John
Enjoy!
I've had a good laugh lately at all of the people saying that Sidney Crosby has been invisible in the finals up until game four. On ESPN the other day they had a fan quote on the front page that said "Sidney Crosby must be an acronym for invisible". It was a weak joke but most of all it was a ridiculous statement.
I'll assume that quote came from someone who only checks the boxscore the next day and says that if he didn't record a point then he must not have played well. I would like to think that a real hockey fan would know better.
For those of you who are new to the game of hockey or those who refuse to watch the entire game please realize that you don't have to score a goal to have an impact on a game.
You may or may not agree that Crosby is the best player in the game but trust me when I tell you that other teams focus their game plan on stopping him. He is the smartest offensive player in the game and at any moment he can create an offensive chance for himself or someone else.
During the first two games in Detroit Crosby may not have scored but he was creating plenty of chances for himself and his teammates. A few unlucky bounces and some great defensive plays were all that stopped him from getting on the score sheet.
Lets not also forget that he has been doing this with arguably the best two-way forward in the game covering him. Henrik Zetterberg is not just a great offensive talent, he is also one of the best in the game at shutting down opposing teams' offensive stars.
As we have begun to see in the last two games Zetterberg's assignment may be starting to get to him physically. He looked tired during most of game four. It looks like the extra ice time as well as the difficult task of shadowing Crosby may be catching up to him.
With Pavel Datsyuk out of the lineup Mike Babcock hasn't had the luxury of allowing both his stars to share in covering the Pens top stars. They seem to have decided on trying to limit Crosby as much as possible. This has allowed Evgeni Malkin to get good matchups throughout the series which he has taken advantage of. Call it the "Crosby Effect".
Look for Babcock to make some adjustments for game five to try and slow down Malkin as well as Crosby. A Datsyuk return would be a big help at this point. But whether or not Datsyuk returns look for Detroit to be more focused defensively.
Pittsburgh won't find it as easy to score at the Joe so look for game five to be a tightly contested affair likely to go under the total, currently 5.5 at Pinnacle.
Good luck,
Tritesy
The Giants have done a great job to improve their team so far but I continue to be puzzled about why they are reluctant to make a deal for Edwards.
According to the latest rumours, the Giants are moving on and concentrating on getting a top receiver in the draft. While this may make sense for most teams, the Giants are in a different situation. They have 10 picks in the draft and have their starters set at most positions. More than likely they will not be selecting 10 players come draft day since they don't have room for them on the roster.
Their one obvious need is at receiver with the departure of Plaxico Burress. They have solid role players at the position but as we saw last year, after Burress decided to pull a 'Cheddar Bob', the G-Men struggled to score through the air. Hixon finished with only two scores and Steve Smith only had one. That just won't cut it. They need to get a guy who is a threat in the endzone.
Edwards did have the drops last year but he is also the same guy who had 16 touchdowns the year before. Put him in the Giants offense and he should be able to put up similar type numbers.
More importantly, the Giants are not going to find a guy who will be able to put up big numbers in the draft. Yes, there are some solid receivers that should have good careers but the Giants need someone who can contribute now.
While reading a story about the top receivers in the draft I came across this interesting stat...
Since the 2000 draft there have been 37 receivers taken in the first round. Guess how many went on to have a 1000 yard seasons in their first year? One! Michael Clayton is the only guy to go over 1000 yards in his rookie campaign since 2000.
Now I know the idea is build through the draft and Jerry Reese has done a great job in the past but this team is built to win now. It's time to pick up the phone and make a deal. Give the Browns a first and third round pick. If they want more give them a fifth as well but get it done.
What do you think? And do you see any other interesting trade possibilites?
* And look for the San Jose Sharks (-136 at Pinnacle) to even their series with the Ducks tonight.
I can't believe how terrible some teams in the tournament have been at shooting from the charity stripe this year. Haven't these guys practiced this every day of their lives for the past 10 years or more.
We all know that this part of the game has been ignored more and more by players after suffering through painful trips to the line from guys like Shaq, Dwight Howard and Tim Duncan but it is getting worse. And it's no longer just the big men who go to the line looking like they are praying for some divine intervention.
How does, Blake Griffin, the leading candidate for player of the year only shoot 58.7% from the line?
Dejuan Blair looked like he knew he was going to miss everytime he went to the line yesterday and just seemed to laugh it off. His misses were a big reason Pitt lost that game.
I'm not a big Tyler Hansbrough guy but you have to like the fact that he has worked on this part of his game knowing that he will spend a significant amount of time taking freebies. And while I don't think he will make much of a pro, the fact that he can go in and be agressive and know that he can knock them down at the line is going to help his chances for more playing time at the next level.
Look for Carolina to cover the seven (Pinnacle) today thanks to superior guard play and ultimately because they will make the free ones when they count.
Good luck everyone.
According to a story on ESPN, the appeal in the Barry Bonds perjury case could take over a year for a decision to be made. This delay has lead Bonds' agent to come out today and announce that he will be contacting all 30 teams in hopes of getting a contract for Barry.
There is very little chance that any team is going to give this guy a contract. He tried last year unsuccessfully and it seems unlikely that a team will decide that now would be a better time to add him to the lineup.
Well I say now is the perfect time for the Blue Jays to sign this guy ASAP.
The Blue Jays are going to be one of the worst teams in the Majors this year. They will finish last in their division and will be struggling all year to find a way to get people in the seats.
Unless Roy Halladay is throwing you have to wonder why anyone would want to shell out their hard earned money to watch these guys. It's going to be a depressing year in the T-Dot.
Why not throw a few million at Barry and let him swing for the fences? This guy wants to play and will probably take any reasonable offer right now.
Some people will probably say... Why bring in a side show like Barry?
Well he may be a bit of a side show but I believe he can also be productive, even at 45. He still has the potential to hit 25-30 HRs. He also has a high OBP every year. He hasn't had an OBP less than .400 since 1999.
I won't go on about stats because we all know he filled the stats sheet for years but the more important thing is getting someone to try and excite the fans. Free bobbleheads aren't going to do it for long.
Toronto has the money so why not take a chance and see what happens.
I don't care if the guy took steroids. I don't care if anyone took steroids. It happened, get over it. Give the guy a chance to see if he can still do it. You have to admit that you're at least curious.
Oh and grab the under on Blue Jays wins for 2009. Sports Interaction has the total listed at 80.5. I see a 70-75 win season.
What do you think?
