First of all let me state once more that I am from Columbus and love my buckeyes. My concern is over coach Tressel and the handling of T. Pryor. I am not a Tressel basher, I believe that his overall record speaks for itself. I realize the bashers will say that the buckeyes play in the shitty big ten. That is obviously not Tressel's fault, he can only play the teams that are scheduled. I realize that they have lost big games as of late, however, they have also played well in a few of the big games during his tenure.
Now to the point of this thread....Tressel was able to land the prized recruit in Pryor. However, due to the way that Tressel game plans(it is successful) I feel that Pryor must sit at night and question his decision to attend Ohio State. I dont want to hear that all that matters to him is winning, that is bullshit. This kid had to believe that the buckeyes were a short pit stop on his way to the pros. I cant help but think Tressel's game planning and minimizing of a play book has really, really, stunted his development, I realize I am speaking the obvious but I have to say it anyways!
I believe that Tressel had a tremendous opportunity continue to land this kind of athlete by allowing Pryor to do sooo much more than he does. I believe that Tressel has ruined any chance of landing this kind of prized recruit/quarterback in the future and that is unfortunate for me as a buckeye fan. Do we honestly think that the quartebacks in high school that are considering the top schools want to play for Tressel? There is no way in hell that the kids are saying I cant wait to get to Ohio State and throw for 68 yards a game!
As a buckeye fan I am happy with a win over Michigan however, I feel that we should be capable of so much more but it is not happening, nor is it going to happen as long as the sweater vest is calling the plays! I realize that this thread is long and meaningless to most but I needed to get this off of my chest. BOL to all in your picks in the future!
OK, I have to agree with West Coast Trojan and a comment that he made in another thread.."It seems too easy, that's why I am hesitating."....obviously to play USC.
Unless Butch Reynolds of Olympic fame puts on a jersey vs. the Trojans the bucks are not going to gain anymore team speed. I am smart enough to realize that each week is a different story, a different set of circumstances and emotions. However, the speed factor is not going to change...USC looks so much faster.
T. Pryor better go off if the bucks are going to have a chance, i believe Pryor may do this, but if he does not they lose by 14 at least. I believe he will be the best ATHLETE on the field on Saturday, but his rb's are bad and his line does not appear to be athletic.
This is why I am a little hesitant, obviously the "smart guys" saw what we saw....and they have to believe the number that APPEARS short is more that going to get its share of SC money. This so looks like the kind of game that could be a five or six point game heading into the 4th but then the bucks will wear down and SC runs away with it.
Any or all opinions are welcomed ans appreciated!
First off I will be in Vegas the night of the USC- Ohio State game
Secondly let me state that I am from Columbus, Ohio and I cried(i was 6)the night Woody Hayes punched that kid from Clemson(i think it was Clemson)...need I say more about my allegiance to the buckeyes...however i do not suffer from miopia.
USC o-line vs. OSU d-line- i believe that this is one of the bigger advantages for SC. This opinion is not formulated as a slight to the Buckeyes d-line but more of a compliment to the Trojans o-line, which i believe is the best in the country.
USC WR's and TE's vs. OSU d-backs and linebackers- Again I believe that this an advantage for the Trojans with Williams, who all he seems to do is catch balls, Johnson and McCoy. I do believe the bucks db's are talented, and they seem to have become a factory for the NFL in that regard, but I will lean Trojans here.
USC backs vs. OSU d- I will have to go with SC, obviously their backs are talented, but this opinion is related to SC's line.
OSU o-line vs. Trojans d-line- I will give the slightest of edges to the bucks, with a slight concern regarding the bucks athleticism up front.
OSU WR's and Te's vs. Trojans db's etc....edge to SC, they are projected to start 3 sr's and a junior.
Now T. Pryor vs. the trojan D...first off i am of the opinion that Pryor will be the most dominant player in college football NEXT year...i believe he is a freekish athlete, who once he has COMPLETELY refined his throwing technique will be quite a thing to watch. I believe the bucks will be good for 17-24 in this game if they allow Pryor to play...Tressel LET HIM LOOSE please.
I realize I have not addressed the bucks rb's but I promised my wife i would pay attention to her for like 10 more days or so! So, i have to stop now. Looking forward to input on this game.
I see sc by 7-10, not the 32 they won by last year.
