CENTRAL MICHIGAN +9 ( 5 units ) best bet of the week
Another one of the these MAC games hiding under the Radar. Or at least in my opinion it is. I LOVE THIS GAME. What a refreshing spot for the CMU who's back on home turf after losing three straight on the road versus Kentucky, W Michigan and Michigan ST. NO WAY SHOULD NORTHER ILLINOIS BE LAYING CLOSE TO DDs in this game. This line should be closer to a field goal.
LOUISIANA TECH -3.5 ( 4 units )
The Bulldogs are my second largest wager this weekend. I was impressed watching LT go toe to toe with Mississippi st last Saturday. Historically Hawaii has been a bad road team over the years and there are some valid angles that support this play.

This series will end today. This is how i sum up these teams. Two great offenses and one ""VERY BAD DEFENSE " of course that being Phoenix. The Mercury just don't match up well with the Lynx. They run that Paul Westhead offense quickly run up the floor spot up Taurasi, Taylor and Bonner keep expecting them to make shots for the entire 40 minutes. This might work against LA,SA and TULSA but not against the athleticism of the Minnesota Lynx.
This Lynx team has no weaknesses. Phoenix has no prayer in the paint. Their getting killed on the boards and there is a mismatch right across the front line. Maya Moore scores 13 out of her 15 points in the 1st quarter last game and then plays defense the rest of the way. Augustus intensity is unmatched. I can go on and on.
MIN WILL WIN THIS GAME.
The only way i lose this bet is if Phoenix shoots over 40 % from the the 3 point line with at least 30 attempts. I LIKE MY CHANCES.
INDIANA +4.5 ( 2 units )
You'll often see a ""PLAYOFF POINTSPREAD ADJUSTMENT"" in the second game of a series, with the adjustment being inflated towards the team that is trailing 1 game to zero.
I can understand the Fever being a 2.5 point favorite in GAME 1 but this line ( ATL -4.5 ) just makes no sense and if you factor in the DESOUZA absence it really makes no...

The Over has been getting some money, but I'm gonna be on the Under today. This total has been bet up to 159. The O/Us were 6-5 favoring the Under in the first round of games. Both teams probably have to score into the 80s for this game to go Over and I'm betting against it. Lin Dun knows the strength of this Atlanta team is transition baskets , post play and second chance points. I think she's smart enough to counter that. With 2nd round games upon I'm gonna lean under with almost every reasonable number that is posted.

SASKATCHEWAN -1.5 ( 5 units ) best bet of the week.
Not only are the Roughriders my top play of the week, this is my best game to date. Going large on this one.
A few angles that I'm looking at. First time this year the Leo's will play in consecutive road games. I'm excluding the Bye week. It's also a revenge game from Week 6. Ken Miller is back and once again he's in charge. The PASS/RUN distribution has been a lot better the past 3 weeks and this has taken some pressure of Durant. THE 4 GAME WIN STREAK FOR BC WILL END ON FRIDAY.
EDMONTON +1.5 ( 4 units )
For starters i think the wrong team is favorite. The 27-4 loss against the Alouettes in week 7 didn't sit well with the Eskimos. I can think of few excuses that day to back up the ESKY drubbing. This time around Edmonton will get the better of Montreal. THE WIDEOUTS ARE BACK.
WINNIPEG -3 ( 3 units )
I don't like to lay points on the road. but a field goal is way too low in my opinion. I had this line pegged at WIN -6. Not really sure why it's only a three.

Stunning is the only word that comes to mind !! The Red Raiders a 3 TD favorite !!!!!! Should a 40 and 49 point win against New Mexico and Texas State support this enormous chalk. I'd hardly call blowing out a bottom WAC team and a mediocre Sub Division team impressive. This is practically the same defense that ranked 114 th in the country last year. Third straight year with a different defensive coordinator. Five out of their 8 wins last year were by 10 points or less. I'm discounting blowouts versus New Mexico and Weber st in 2010. The Wolf pack lost Kaepernick to the Nfl but posses a formidable ground attack. They will easily rack up the yards on the ground versus the Red Raiders control the time of possession and easily stay within 3 touch downs.

NEW YORK + 5 ( 4 units ) Game of The Week
The Liberty got off to a slow start but really peaked towards the end of the season secured the 4th spot in the East and now they are on the verge of eliminating the Top seed.
They've been a monster ATS dog over the last couple of weeks cashing in 5 out of their last 6 when getting points. The only blemish was a half point loss against the Sun. In their last 7 SU losses 4 out of 7 games were decided by two points or less.
Pondexter simply takes over the game in the fourth quarter. She can't be guarded one on one. The Liberty are the best defensive transition team in the league.
Under do or die circumstances ( Game 3 ) Five points is truly a gift. I give this team as good a chance as any on winning straight up.

I'll give DT a hall pass , she was obviously frustrated by the Storm defense and put up some bad shots. She's come up big in the past and i expect this from her in game 2. Home court advantage is the factor for me in this one. I can't see the Mercury going down without a fight. See you in Seattle for Game 3.

My lean for the game is also Minnesota , but I feel a little better about the First Half. Now if it comes around to bite me in ass then so be it. I'll take my chances here and lay the five and I'm backing this play with common sense. The Lynx are the best team in the league. No doubt about it. Their bench is better than half the starting lineups in the league. Their intensity is often unmatched. Augustus is the Heart and Soul of the team. I expect a big game from her. The Storm set the tone last night and it looked like a statement game more than anything else. I EXPECT NOTHING LESS FROM THE LYNX matching what the Seattle did last night. I give all the home teams a nod here in their respective opening games.

There was some question early this week weather Pierce will start on Sunday. He was listed as day to day but took all the snaps with the first team on Thursday and is ready to go.
This is a nice spot for the Bombers. The B2B debacle in weeks 10&11 was somewhat expected after starting the season 7-1. LaPolice will have his squad ready. Montreal is coming off it's best game of the year ( avenging a two game losing streak to the Tabbies ) and i expect a little let down here.
This league can be a bitch to handicap sometimes and you have to pick your spots. Hot cycle teams have crippled the thought process of your typical handicapper. A perfect example are the Edmonton Eskimos. They score a total of 5 points combined in Weeks 7&8 and then go into Calgary and beat the stamps 35-7. I feel the Blue Bombers are in a similar spot. If this game was played 3 weeks ago the Alouettes would of been a -4 point favorite.

Didn't have to do too much digging to come up with this play. The stats easily support this OVER. The Over cashed in all four meetings this season. The closing number was 145 in all four matches with the exception of 146 in one of the games. The Final scores were as follows , 161,166,153 and 158 that's a four game average of 159.5. That's a 13 point cushion in comparison to this posted total. Well worth the value and the correct bet in this game. Not playing the side, but small lean on the Liberty.

This is my first and probably only Teaser of the year. I laid the points with Montreal last week and i make no excuses, it was definitely the wrong side.
However with Hamilton being a 3 point dog in Week 10 and now a 5 point dog on the road this week the value just isn't there in backing the Ticats. A two point differential just won't cut if for me.
You can breakdown last weeks game in several ways, but as far as wagering principals are concerned taking 5 with the Tabbies is just a bad wager regardless of the outcome. I agree with almost everyone's analysis that Montreal's secondary is vulnerable. The Tabbies had an answer last week by switching from Man to man and playing more zone defense. They threw a wrench at Calivillo, but he's a champion and he'll bounce back on Sunday. I'm going a step further here and Teasing what i think will be two home teams that will get the job done this week.
I'm also chopping these spreads in half by taking both Bc and Montreal in the FIRST HALF.

I've had success this year fading the Liberty as a favorite and playing them as a dog. New-york is 6-10 ATS with the chalk and 11-5 as an underdog.
I'm gonna stray away from this particular trend for a few valid reasons. The Fever have nothing to play for and will most likely limit their starters to 20 minutes. Erin Phillips will sit this game out for Indiana. It's their second to last game of the season and this pretty much is the norm in basketball. Rest your starters and let them play a little longer in the regular season finale simply to avoid rust. A long layoff is ill advised going into the playoffs. Meanwhile the Liberty have lost two in row and still have a chance for a higher seed so it's unlikely that they will rest anyone. Pondexter has struggled in the last couple of games here going 0-7 form the field against the Lynx. However Cappie has had success versus the Fever this season shooting over 50% from the field in three games.
IT ALL POINTS LIBERTY HERE GENTLEMEN
by the way a big win last night on the Tulsa/Pho under. I had my doubts at the half.

The only SHOCK here is that this total is sitting this high. Latta's out for the year, they got 1 point off the bench last game. All 3 meetings this season stayed Under the total and there's no reason why this game shouldn't follow that pattern. The Mercury are probably gonna end up with the 3rd seed in the West so this game is more or less meaningless. Phoenix has gone Under the total in 7 out of the last 8 games. Corey Gaines has told his instructed his team to take the foot off the petal. Penny Taylor is questionable and my gut feeling is that she won't suit up.

I'm a little surprised here that the Greeks are a small dog. Greece is ranked fourth by FIBA and their Defense is world class. I'm very familiar with team and have watched them play numerous times. Their intensity is often unmatched , they have a big front line, they hustle for loose balls and do a great job on defensive rebounds, averaging 28 per game. It's should be a low scoring game and free throws will probably be the difference. Slovenia is averaging 68.6 while Greece is at 80.5. BEST OF LUCK TO GREECE HERE. SERBIA / LITHUANIA OVER 161
I feel this number is just a tad too low. These teams rank 2nd and 3rd in PPG. Serbia 86.4 and Lithuania 85.8. Both teams like to press and have excellent perimeter shooters. SPAIN / TURKEY OVER 154
Spain is averaging 86.8 points per game with the lowest being 83 versus Poland and the highest being 91 against Lithuania. So once again it's probable that Spain will score into the mid 80s. Both teams getting to the free throw line quite often in this tournament. Spain averaging 24 trips to the stripe while Turkey is at 22. With Spain being installed as a 10 point favorite my thinking is an 85-75 final.
PORTUGAL +21
With Lithuania locked in as the 2nd place team coming out of Group A there's absolutely no reason why this team should cover such a large number. Portugal is 0-4 SU but the scores have been respectable. They have losses against TURKEY,SPAIN, POLAND and GREAT BRITTAN by margins of 13,14,8 and 12.
BOSNIA +3.5

Revenge a big factor ?? YES YES!!. The Lynx have clinched home court advantage throughout the playoffs so The big question is will Minnesota bring it's A-GAME ? I am positive they will. I listened to Cheryl Reeve's post game interview on Friday and she stressed '' We know that we clinched but we still have to stay in rhythm for the playoffs. The Liberty are 11-4 SU at home but only 7-8 ATS. The situational Eastern / Western conference Home and Home series split has hit over 65 % this season. The Lynx are the only team in the league with a road record above .500. At this short of a price the value is enticing. MINNESOTA SWEPT ATLANTA,WASHINGTON AND CHICAGO as part of it's Eastern conference schedule. The top 2 teams in the East ( INDIANA and CONNECTICUT ) have split their season series with the Lynx. The next team on that list and in third place are the NEW YORK LIBERTY.

FINLAND/ BOSNIA OVER 149.5
According to my number this total should be in the 154-156 range. Both teams play at a high tempo with relatively no interior defense. Both Greece and Croatia ( who play half court basketball ) cracked to 80 point mark against the Finns.
Finland leaves the lane wide open. Bosnia shot 54% against Montenegro at the same time attempting 33 treys. This is a match made in heaven for the Over Backers. Final score BOSNIA 88 FINLAND 79
CROATIA -4
It's not too many times you see a team shooting 10 percentage points higher from the field than their opponent end up losing the game. That's what happened last time out when Croatia lost to Macedonia. The difference in the game was the free throws. I'm gonna lay the 4 here and back Croatia. This is a pivotal game in Group C as both teams are 1-1. I expect Bogdanovic to have a much better game.

Big chalk in both games has been handed out by the bookmakers yet Spain was never a threat to cover the spread in either one. Factor in one of these rare three games in three days scenarios and i just can't see Spain winning by more than 20 points. Perhaps their saving some gas for the elimination rounds and ideally this makes sense. Deng playing well for the Brits even though they are 0-2. The Dogs are 15-9 ATS in the first 24 games of this tournament and i think this will continue until the end of the 1st round.
GERMANY +5
I'm gonna back the Germans here as a dog. I see a close game with several lead changes. Plenty of NBA contingents in the staring line ups. These teams know each other well playing several friendlies including a France 70-65 win in Euro Basket 2009. The Germans had 44 rebound against Italy and 43 of them were on the Defensive side. Talk about cleaning up the boards. That's what you need to do to beat the French. Kaman will hold his own against Noah.
good luck

WESTERN KENTUCKY +18 ( 2 units )
Simply a Kentucky fade here. Why should the Wildcats be an 18 point favorite on neutral site ? Huge departures on offense for this team including QB Mike Hartline. I'm not to familiar with the Hilltoppers and i didn't watch any of their games last season. I know it's a revenge game for Western Kentucky as the Wildcats thrashed them last year 63-28 in Lexington. What i do know through some of the Western Kentucky team reports is that this will be a much improved football team in 2011. They finished 2-10 last season but lost 4 games by 5 points or less.
I'D LIKE TO WISH EVERYONE HERE IN THE CFB FORUM GOOD LUCK.
HAVE A GREAT YEAR !!!!!!!

MONTREAL - 3 ( 4 units ) best bet of the week
To say the Alouettes have played well coming off a loss is a huge under statement. This team is simply a monster coming off a loss. They've already lost B2B games once this season in weeks 4/5 losing at home to Saskatchewan and then on the road versus Hamilton the following week. Before this you gotta go all the way back to week 19 of the 2008 season to see Montreal with consecutive losses. Avenging the Ticats to boot and a short price makes this game very playable.
Calvillo and Trestman are winners and the desire to compete in this league has never been an issue for the Alouettes.
The Alouettes have a flaw this season. It's their secondary. Their vulnerable to the deep ball and are last in the league in interceptions. Burris threw for 460 yards last week via the pump fake route. This has been a problem for Montreal and good teams make adjustments. Montreal will be ready for the Tabbies.
FINAL SCORE MON 34 HAM 19
TORONTO +1.5 ( 2 units )
SASKATCHEWAN +3 ( 2 units )
EDM / CAL OVER 48 ( 1 unit )
GOOD LUCK AND HAVE A GREAT LABOR DAY WEEKEND
