If there was any series in the opening round of the playoffs that was pegged to go 7 games, It's this one here. The Grizzles could of easily been up 3-0 if it wasn't for a couple of 4th quarter meltdowns. Memphis staring front line of ( Gasol, Gay and Randloph ) dominated the paint against the Clippers ( Griffin, Jordan and Butler) outscoring them 52-21 in Game 3.  The Grizzles have also gone to the line 30 times more in this series. Hopefully the aggressiveness will take it's toll in a 7 game series and this is why I'm backing Memphis tonight.

No Splitter today for the Spurs and this should help a little. I tend to find that teams getting blown out in any opening Game of a playoff series have a tendency of bouncing back in Game 2. This is my first playoff wager. I don't bet on too many playoff games. The lines are just to predictable and  and there is less room for error by the oddsmakers therefore i don't see much value. However I do like this Over tonight.
The Over missed by 10 points in the first game and the O/U remains the same for Game 2.
The Nuggets scored 88 points in Game 1 and shot only 35.6% from the field. This is a season low Denver. Actually the  Nuggets have only gone under 40% four times this season. Let's not forget Denver has #1 ranked team in the NBA in points scored on the road. At the same time they are ranked 29th in points allowed away from home.
Lawson and Affalo were a combined 6 for 22 from the field. Both guys were in single digits and this doesn't happen too often. I'm certainly betting against it happening today. Bynum 10 blocked shots !!!! This was a one time deal. Not going to happen again. Coaches make adjustments.

I don't know who has a tougher time !! The Oddsmaker posting a line or us the Handicappers trying to pick winners during the last two days of the NBA regular season.
There is going to be some significant line moves here in the last couple of days. I'd be cautious unless you have some concrete information concerning which players will play and how many minutes.
Trying to get into a coaches head is probably the best advice. I did come up with 3 plays tonight.

Despite Toronto's 22-42 record they've been a solid ATS team this season. Especially when getting DDs. Raptors are 8-3 ats installed as Double Digit Dog. The Bucks need the game therefore this line is inflated somewhat. Milwaukee's only been a DD favorite three times this season against Cleveland, Charlotte and the Nets this past
Saturday. They failed to cover against Cleveland and Charlotte but just squeaked by the Nets. Not a favorable spot to be in. Barring a major 76'er collapse the Bucks faith is already sealed. The Bucks players do realize this despite Scott Skiles speeches. I just can't see Milwaukee motivated taking on the Raptors with the window closing.

The assumption that Kobe and the Lakers need to make a  statement game every time they face a top caliber team  is getting kind of old. There are no gimmicks no tricks no handicapping angles or player match ups to consider because simply the Thunder are a much better team. A short price like this !! I'll take it every time. I actually prefer Oklahoma City on the road because you get to lay a smaller number. If anything the young Oklahoma City thunder have something to prove while the Los Angeles Brick Layers have shown that they can't beat Tier 1 teams. Lakers are  content with the third or fourth spot in the West. I'd also like to mention that I think Mike Brown is one of the worst coaches in the league. Durant needs to outscore Kobe by 7 points today and take control of the Scoring lead.

This is a huge game as far as playoff implications are concerned. Neither team has secured a post season spot . The Nuggets have the upper hand and will clinch a playoff spot with a win this afternoon. The Suns are a solid 15-8 ats as a favorite but i find this stat a little misleading. Only 4 out of the 15 wins have come against teams that currently have a winning record. ( HOU,UTAH,LAK and CLIP )  The Nuggets road scoring is ranked #1 in the Nba at 103.8 ppg. Denver has beaten the Suns  five straight and that should help their confidence level. Given the importance of this game , my line here would of been Phoenix -2. The Nuggets are 3-1 ats when playing on at least 2 days rest. One of those wins was a 109-92 against Phoenix back on 2/14. Ironically the line in the game was DENVER -10.5!!!!! YOU GOTTA LOVE THE VALUE TODAY GIVEN THE CURRENT CIRCUMSTANCES. I BELIEVE DENVER WILL WIN THIS GAME STRAIGHT UP.

I'm not betting on the Over here because i think I'm getting a bargain on the number.  I  just think it's a safe bet. The total was 198 last Tuesday and that game went Over by 5 points. Today's posted total is about 5 points higher partly because Kobe will play and the game is in San Antonio where the Spurs have averaged 114.2 points in their last 5 home games. Betting a Spurs game Over has more pros than cons. Watching this team play this season you know they hardly ease up on the pedal anytime they have a significant lead going into the fourth. Arguably the Spurs have one of the deepest benches in the league. Popovich runs a Vanilla offense which is basically getting the ball to a scorer on almost every possession. I think they have the best back up Center in the league in Tiago Splitter. Every big man on this team can score. The only chance this total won't go over is if the Lakers win and I doubt that will happen. FINAL SCORE SAN ANTONIO 115 LAKERS 100

It's get a little tricky betting the NBA this time of year. You have to pay close attention to detail. For example will coaches rest certain key players . Some teams are willing to play hard while other post season bound teams might be preparing for the playoffs. Seedings are important to some coaches but not to all. Identifying this might be easier said than done. Bottom line remains the same !! Looking for value within the pointspread.

A couple of big wins on the weekend against the Rockets and I think the momentum should carry over into tonight. Dallas is coming off an overtime game and are playing their 4th game in 5 nights with 3 out of the 4 being on the road. What does the saying ""MEANINGLESS GAME"" mean to you ? It's a term commonly used by a sports gambler but seldom used by s sports fan.
There's a nice little angle developing among teams that have been eliminated from post season action. I started to keep of this last week as soon as teams had less than 10 games to play in the regular season. There are exactly 10 teams as of now that have been eliminated from post season play. DET, NJ,CLE, TOR,WASH,CHA,MIN,GS,SAC and NO.
The trend on the OVER  is 4-1 since April 8.

My thinking for this specific situation is simple. The unwillingness to play hard on defense combined with fatigue will make for higher scoring games. Too many points to be laying in my opinion. Does an 18 and 19 point win at New Jersey and Toronto justify a sharp boost in the point spread value. My answer is NO!  Here's the problem I have with Philly !!! Yes they do play great defense but don't do much in the paint on offense. They  have a nice quartet of guards ( Holiday, Meeks, Williams and Turner ) who can get hot at any time and but the fact of the matter is that their a one dimensional team. Basically fire from the perimeter use a lot of the shot clock and get back on defense. They don't have an inside game and that's why their dead last in the league with 17 free throw attempts per game. The Sixers play well with the lead but if it's a close or they start falling behind they begin to rely on the trey. This is why they've had multiple sub 40 point second half scoring games. Wallace is out for the Nets, No biggy for me. This is a recent revenge game and a total fade on Philly.

I think this will be a huge letdown game for the Celtics.
Boston is 6-11 overall  ats in the 2nd game of a B2B and teams haven't fared well this season in the following game after defeating the ,Miami Heat. When you shoot 60% from the field the previous night !!! Yes of course i do expect a drop off especially on a travel day. It's not time zone change but regardless it's a 3 hour flight. Boston will be playing 5 games over the next 6 nights so Doc Rivers has something to think about?

These two teams look like they will be heading into the playoffs as the 4th and 5th seed in the Western Conference, so this game is of somewhat importance. Clippers have already beaten the Grizzlies twice this season so I'm gonna lay the 4 here and play against a series sweep. The Grizzlies have won 7 out of their last 9 and have been playing some good defense during that streak. Not to mention some quality wins at MIAMI,OKLA CITY and LAKERS.

Let's take a look at this seasons Celtics B2B trend. They are 6-9 SU and  4-11 ATS  in the second game of a B2B. They've also been a favorite 4 times in the second end of a B2B and have only managed to cover one game and that was by half a point against the Bobcats. By the way this is also a 4 game in 5 night scenario.  I expected this would happen in 2012 and i hate myself for not taking advantage of this specific  situation . It's easy to say now  but the trend is self explanatory. An aging team with 3 starters over a combined 40 seasons of basketball and you can throw in a conservative coach it just makes so much sense to fade the Celtics in this spot. In 15 of those B2B situations the Celtics have a point differential of -61. PHILLY WINS STRAIGHT UP

I bought this game down to 3, simply a feel better number and keeping it within a 1 possession cover. 54 games into the season and the thunder have yet to lose 3 straight games. Actually they've only had consecutive losses twice this season and are currently on a two game losing streak. This isn't a trap game the line is correct, after all the Pacers are 17-10 at home . This is nice spot for the thunder, there is no look ahead game, they host the Raptors on Sunday so away we go. FINAL SCORE OKLA 105 IND 98.

This will be Portland's second visit to Dallas, back on 2/11 the Trail Blazers lost by 3 but managed to get the cover as they were a 4 point dog in that game. Today their getting +6.5 and I feel their playing much better basketball away from home in comparison to the first half of the season. Portland has covered 3 out of their last 4 road games including a straight up win at Chicago. The Trail Blazers are within 3.5 games of a playoff spot so this team hasn't thrown in the towel. The Mavericks are 16-20-1 as a favorite this season and they do have Memphis on deck tomorrow.
