my buddy is watching at home and called me about this....McIlroy's tee shot ended up by a tree root. Instead of pitching out, he tries to be a hero and advance the ball. Nails the root and fucks up his wrist....
I may be wrong, maybe NoWorries can clarify this, but you don't get a drop if your ball is on or near a root.

never know...I've seen stranger things. Hell, earlier this year in Hawaii someone cut there foot on some reef. A lot of us faded the guy the next day and we ALL got burned.
