Hey people -- I havent been around for a while but HAD to put in my 2 cents since I am reading alot of inaccurate reports.  Please please remember this woman has only come onto the national scene in the past 14 hours.  Give her a chance before bashing.

As a 41-year resident of Alaska, wife, and mother of 2, I am THRILLED at this selection.  Sarah not only brings a new face to D.C., but integrity, honesty, and a drive that Americans will not soon forget once they see her in action.  She has fought big oil in Alaska and has held the oil companies accountable, so I am not sure why critics are calling her pro-oil.  Pro-development, yes.  90% of Alaskans are pro-development.  Alaskans know how to drill and protect our environment -- we have been doing it for over 30 years.  Hopefully the rest of the United States will realize that Alaska can greatly benefit the rest of the country on decreasing its dependence on foreign oil and start right here at home.

Her "scandal" is over-rated.  She is Governor.  She can hire and fire as she wishes.  If she chooses to fire her Public Safety Commissioner, it is her choosing.

Last week, she signed a new $40 Billion natural gas pipeline.  Yes, a new pipeline is being built to send natural gas to the Lower 48 for heating and further energy support.  She fought against the "old boys club" up here to expose corruption, of which 4 former legislators are now in federal prisons.  She is a tough chick.

Alaskans have thrived under her administration and hopefully the rest of the U.S. will get to share in that.  She is a woman who stands for her convinctions and will not back down.  GO SARAH!!

No, KOAJ, she is NOT at the fair.  She is in Dayton.  She talked to McCain from the fair last weekend prior to being picked up up her by private jet and flown to Arizona.

If people have serious questions, I will try to answer as best I can.

SS, there is one thing about Alaska women -- we are very independent.  Not sure why, maybe its the environment -- being around alot of men... But she has been so tough against the good ole Republican boys up here.  There is NO doubt in my mind she will stand up to McCain.  The part about oil is true -- the problem is that the federal government won't allow it.  We (the State) have been trying to educate Congress for over 10 years... they won't budge.  They don't seem to realize that ANWR is so small compared to the big picture.  McCain has been against ANWR but Sarah is pro-ANWR and I think she might be convincing enough to change his mind.

Depeche, I agree.  But like I said above, she is not a push over and is not going to be a "yes woman."  I dont know if she has intentionally avoided national issues -- she has been pretty busy the past 6 months getting this natural gas line deal negotiated and sealed up.  She probably also thought she was a long shot for VP so didnt really think she needed to address it.

One thing with Sarah -- and I have met her and she is a really good friend of one of my good friends -- she is a straight shooter, will tell you like it is, and is completely open.

You took my comment completely out on context Kujay, and you know it,...... it was not related to her having visions and revelations for God .....

Iam disappointed in you, and have grown to expect more honesty in your comments......

Now I don't just like Sarah "I Love Sarah" .....

In an interview for the September issue of the conservative magazine Newsmax, Gov. Sarah Palin, R-Alaska, said she does not believe climate change is caused by human behavior.

"A changing environment will affect Alaska more than any other state, because of our location. I'm not one though who would attribute it to being man-made," Palin said in the interview, which was posted online Friday.

SA - my wife is pro-choice but a republican...when she heard this news about Palin being picked yesterday she had tears in her eyes. her and friends are very very excited. every female i spoke to yesterday about this (5 approx) were very excited.

pro life will not turn them a lot of them off in the least. when a doctor tells a woman you need to abort your down syndrome unborn baby and you refuse and have the baby and raise him with the same love as you do your others, every mother's heart is warmed and overflows with respect for Palin. there are of course the femi-nazi's who are ultra left wing and unless gloria steinem was nominated with mccain, they would never vote R

this isnt a mercy pick for a woman or some overt grab at the hillary vote. AK is right on...everything ive heard from call in shows, blogs, local papers is the people in Alaska LOVE her
----------------
hi AK...was going to send you a note yesterday asking about this

As long as we are making hypothetical situations, how about this one?  If the Democrats win (and they have a very good chance) and something should happen to Obama and Biden became president.  He is no spring chicken, he could keel over from this or that.  That would leave Queen Nancy Pelosi as president.  What experience has she had that would make her a good president?  Besides making those unauthorized visits to Muslim etc. leaders and boring them to death earlier what can she bring to the table?  San Francisco values?  I would rather that this not happen but there is always a possibility.  Be careful what you wish for, you may just get it (probably in the neck).

Koaj

With all respect, your wife is not one of Hillarys 18 million.. your wife would have VOTED GOP no matter what clown there where on the ticket.

KOAJ:

Well it may be because you are in different part of the country...or the water ...or something....but from the feedback of females out here was this was nothing but a transparent, and insulting, pick.

My wife is a finance admin in the largest HMO in CO and and when the girls gather around the water cooler, there's a hundred of them talking all at once.

From what I gather, most of them had the same take as I guessed yesterday....simply throwing out a female in hopes of attracting females is a fool's game.

Palin is the antithesis of 'supposedly disenchanted' Dem women voters.  This is not a person who will attract those votes.

Several told my wife why pass over Hutchison of Texas if he was going the female route.  100 times the experience of Palin.

I am sure that Sarah is a fine person and is proud of the fact she brought the first stop light to Wasilla as mayor.

But this was a blatantly transparent attempt on McCain's part that will backfire, I guarantee it.

yes, the natural gas pipeline that she (the State) just negotiated is a $40 BILLION deal with Canada.  The pipeline is going through Canada and is being built by a Canadian company.  Also there are negotiations with the Far East countries for natural gas as well.

I really feel she is going to shock people.... people who are already questionning a debate between her and Biden.  You heard it hear first   She never fails to impress.  She is smart and tough!  And, yes, she is pretty -- Alaskans have been unofficially bragging for the past 2 years about our hot governor!  LMAO!

I havent heard it mentioned alot yet, but Americans need to remember that she has been running a state that has income, budget, etc., exceeding alot of actual countries!!

Depeche, do you think Obama is out of his league?   I realize he is a good orator but that doesn't make him qualified to be Prez.  Since being a senator the only thing he has done is campaigned for president.  I shouldn't forget his meaningful experience as a community organizer.   If Palin is out of her league where is Obama, and he is running on the top of his ticket.

I've never made lack of experience an issue this election (especially foreign relations experience).  McCain did.  I suppose now experience won't be an issue, the issues will.

Republicans for diversity

Thank You AKChick.

Pawlin has been a Mayor,a Governor and negotiated with multi-foreign countries.......Hmmm..it would then appear that the Republicans second string has more experience than the Democrat first string QB ........in Governmental management.

So if Obama qualified to be President for giving inspiring speaches and organizing communities, then she is equally qualified to be VP ,and if needed to be President of the United States.......

im a republican but i dont really agree with the pick. she seems like a fine lady, but im not sure shes ready to be president if something were to happen to mccain, while i dont like obama, at least 18 million people did think he was ready to be president. that's more than i think would say that about palin. if she had been in a republican primary, i think she wouldve been laughed off the stage. i would've preferred romney, but oh well.
