Still criticism of MALKIN??

At the start of the series, there was so much talk how Malkin will not show up for the Stanley Cup Finals. That the stage was too big for him. The Wings were too good. Nobody wanted to believe, or admitt, he was hurting pretty bad last year after he took the hit against the Flyers. He wasn't the same player in the playoffs after that. This year he is healthy and quite frankly Detroit does not have an answer for him. Malkin has now recorded 2 G 5 A in 4 games. Strange how the knocks on him have been silenced. The Wings legs looked very weak last night and could be showing their age. Anything can happen from here out in the best of three, but one thing for certain, Malkin and Crosby have just cemented their legacy into the books this playoff run.

Malkin 14 Goals 35 Points
Crosby 15 Goals 31 Points

29 Goals..The most by any two players in modern day Playoffs.

yea wiggins...although, what are we expecting now that Datsyuk should play this game 5

we will have to see how datsyuk performs...malkin has the big size advantage over any center that he matches up against

datsyuk/hossa is a formidable duo and their best defense might be offense

i am expecting the wings role players to step up and the pens to slow down...look at the home games and look at the difference between their performances...helm is the only consistent one

and well...datsyuk should certainly help that (currently) pathetic wings pp

did the wings look tired to you in game 3 or 4? or do you think they didnt play well? perhaps it was both....it goes without saying this game is huge

if you are a believer in young pens wearing out the old tired legs of detroit..look at the schedule

game 5 on the 6th and then

game 6 on the 9th and game 7 on the 12th...thats a lot of time to rest up..i think it favors the wings

throw in that 2 games are at home and the addition i still like the wings chances but i certainly respect the pens a lot more

In regards to the line match ups with zetterberg and crosby, not enough has been made about datsyuk being out of the line up. He is a finalist for the Hart trophy, the best player on the best team in the league, and more importantly, he has been a finalist for the Selke Trophy the past few years, which awards the best defensive forward.

Malkin's performance in this series would be drastically different if he had to face Datsyuk these first four games, the way Crosby just blended in during the first two games in Detroit. The series would have gone just like last years.

I have a great amount of respect for Crosby, Malkin, and the rest of the pens. I think they are a great team and great players, but what would they have been without one of those two for the first four games? Zetterberg would have shut the other one down, and there goes 75% of their offense.

I do have to say that I lost quite a bit of respect for Malkin for his after the game antics after game 2, going after Zetterberg like that. He should have been suspended by the league, just like anyone else would have been. The influence of the league on the officiating is something else that should be talked about as well, but thats a whole other story.

I see the home teams winning up till Game seven.

rerun of 2002-2003? it's possable BUT I think whoever wins game 5 also wins game 6 to close out esp IF it's my Pennies. the RW's, and esp Zetterburg with all his ice time, look like they have run out of gas and Ozzy looked human in Pittsburgh.

will see what happens. RW's still a dangerous team esp at The Joe BUT I think my Pennies have the "mo" now.

You have to be kidding right? Lidstrom is one of the greatest defenseman to ever play. Definitely the best since Bobby Orr. You can't consider someone who has won six Norris trophys overrated. Niedermayer is a great offensive player but Lidstrom is a better overall talent. Just watch the guy break up plays at the blue line. He's unbelievable even at this stage of his career.

NJ Devils you have got to be kidding you think he's OVERRATED. This guy is a HORSE easily the better  defenseman of the two. You don't win all those Norris Trophy's for nothing.

I think that hard hitting 7 game series with Anaheim is now starting to catch up with the Wings...... They don't seem to be hitting as much as the first 2 game's and are trying to avoid the hit's more of late.....

Detroit need's some time for their bones and muscles to heal....

They are a great team and organization... I'm sure they are not done yet....  Datsyuk (spell ?) would have made a difference for sure.... But that's just the way the cookie crumbles.... Pitts. may just be good enough to take advantage of the situation.....

i've never heard that one before.  lidstrom is so much a smarter player on the ice then Neid, i couldnt even put these two in the same sentence.  imo its hard to call Lid overrated, he does everything so well
