Kournikova receives a powerful serve from Justin

Not sure how many times has Anna Kournikova copped a mouthfull in her life, but this time it was Justin Gimelstob who gave it to her at full strength. He apologised later on saying "I hope my heartfelt remorse can begin to heal any wounds I may have caused".  However, Justin has been suspended for a week from playing World Team Tennis, where he was to face Pornikova. "She's a bitch and we're gonna kick her asshole" he said. "Hate's a strong word. I just despise her to the maximum level below hate..."  and then he ripped into the Chilean saying "I think she falls into the Marcelo Rios scumbag category. .."!!!
Crikey, what's with Justin?! I thought he was a nice guy, but obviously Pornikova must have rubbed him the wrong way. Did she turn him down or something, because I don't understand what could trigger such a verbal mauling. Although later on he denied that he ever was attracted to her "Definetly not. I have no attraction to her because she's such a douche".
Way to go Justin. Mate, you sound like someone from the NBA forum on Covers who just lost a bet and rips into anyone who may have "caused" his bet to lose calling the umpire, the players, David Stern and everyone remotely related to NBA  a douche...

Aussie chick in trackie daks - She'll be right mate!

Seriously what's with Serena Williams and her ridiculous raincoat strutting her stuff onto the centre court?! Mordy Seinfeld would be the only person in the world who'd envy her beltless trench coat, which he owns the copy right to, by the way! Then you have Roger who finally chucked his white blazer and replaced it with a cardigan which resembles that which Jack Clumpus was wearing while he gives Jerry the pen that writes upside down. Did you know that austronauts use that pen too, according to Mr Clumpus?! Then last night I saw Maria Screamapova wearing a white tuxedo and shorts. Crikey - What the hell's going on? I thought Benny Hinn had just entered centre court at the All England Club trying to perform some miracle to bring Djokovic back into the match against Safin! Well, all I could say after seeing that fashion display was 'Serenity now'...

In stark contrast to all these "celebs" you get the simple all Aussie Chick, by the name of Bec Hewitt, who despite her multi-millionaire status, goes around in her trackie daks. That's a bloody ripper, I say!  For those of you who aren't familiar with the 'trackie dak' terminology, that's simply Australian for track suit pants!  There's a daggy Australian for you, who doesn't care about the competition in a war of fashion, as long as she's comfortable. However, before you start feeling sorry for "poor" Beckster, let me assure you that no expenses were spared ... [More]

Aussie's Slazenger Open Pick

Look, at this given price you'd be foolish not to have a crack at Verdasco. Yes, this is Ivo's favourite (and only) surface, Yes his serve is a WMD type of a weapon, Yes his opponents, including the great Andre Agassi, have struggled big time to return that kind of a serve which comes at a bizarre angle. But as I stated from the start, I feel it's crazy to ignore Verdasco here. As I wrote yesterday too, I am loving his game more and more. He made a ridiculously light work of Cilic, whose game is very similar to that of big Ivo.
I don't think Karlovic will be able to win this. Yes, he might win that first set in a tight tie break, but he'll have to keep up that big serve of his.  And look, if he does serve huge and beats Verdasco and us all who are putting $$$ on the Spaniard, well good on Ivo, I say. That's why it's called a gamble!
But I feel very confident on the Spaniard tonight to cause an "upset" (although I wouldn't consider it an upset) Alright, Let's get this last play before Wimbledon kicks into gear next week boys
Verdasco to the bank for 4 Units
Best of luck everyone

Borg delievers a retirement plan to Fedexpress

Can you believe this? Bjorn (not the guy from ABBA!) Borg reckons that Nadal is Nr.1 favourite to win Wimbledon next week and "my second choice is Djokovic, and my third choice is Roger," Borg said! "A year ago, I would have had Roger as my favourite, but that was then," he continued. In the same interview, the Swedish great Borg who has won himself 11 majors (6 French and 5 Wimbledon trophies), also dished out the biggest bomb shell, hinting that Fedexpress could retire as early as next year!!! How bizarre is that, people? I'm wondering how long before the books open now, taking bets on Roger's retirement from the world of tennis?!!!  I'm shocked even as I type this!

He'll probably carry on playing, Borg said, but if he says "that's it", it wouldn't surprise me at all, Borg added. "People expect Roger to win the whole time, and that's mentally and physically draining. It's not going to be like it was, when he won every single match he played. That time has gone"

Borg must hate Federer or something, because he didn't have alot of positives to say about him. He reckons that both Rafa and the Djoker are playing more solid tennis that Fedex. I guess that is a true statement though, because it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that much out. We all know that Roger's self confidence has been bruised, but will he recover in the next fortnight?  With bated breath I'm counting down the days to Wimby thi... [More]

Aussie's atp Tennis Picks

The saying goes 'if it ain't broke why fix it?' Bascially that's the basis of my selection for this next bet. Marc GICQUEL to Win the FIRST SET against Canas!!!!!  Nah not really, of course I am not basing it on just a stupid saying. But really as I mentioned last night against the cyko sematic Melzer, GICQUEL's serve is pretty solid. Canas has surprised many, including himself, to have made it so deep in this tournament. Don't get me wrong I've got HUGE HUGE respect for Canas' game. He's a brilliant player, but clay and hard court are probably his best turfs. The All England Club's Lawn ain't his cup o tea though.  Not sure if Gicquel will beat his nerves as well as Canas to take the whole match, but Gicquel FIRST SET WIN is my Bet tonight for 3 Units  My other play tonight is VERDASCO to beat the young Croat teenager Cilic. Verdasco beat him at quite an ease when they last met, and although the surface here in Rotterdam plays more to Cilic's favour, I still think Verdasco will get the job done. He's got vast experience and the game to back it up. The more I see him the more I like the way he plays. Cilic has had a good run but his' ends here, as his countrymen advance to the semis in Euro 2008 Soccer ..... Verdasco 2 Unit Play  and best wishes everyone AUSSIE  ... [More]

Aussie's ATP Gicquel - Melzer

Really don't have much time for the temperaMENTAL (mental being the operative word obviously) left hander from Austria! He's a slight favourite tonight against a really solid grass court performer like Mark Gicquel (quarters in Halle last year!).  Neither have shone on grass this year, although keep in mind this is their only second tourney, but this turf suits Gicquel's game way way better than Melzer's! No matter how the rest of his game unfolds like on the day, Gicquel's serve is always always a super reliable weapon. From the back of the court they're both pretty average/mediocre.   Could be a toss of the coin at the end, but just like the other night where I predicted Guccione to take it to a first set tie break (spewing the sucker lost that one though) the same I expect Gicquel to hold serve and take this to a tie break (if Melzer holds his end of the bargain too, that is) Hopefully unlike that Guccione-Monfils bet, this falls our way .  Really though, I think Gicquel should win that first set comfortably. If your book doesn't offer First Set, then bet GICQUEL to Win the Match!    My bet however, is GICQUEL to Win FIRST SET ONLY 4Units   Best of luck everyone   AUSSIE ... [More]

Wimbledon and Rafa Nadal

I got inspired to write this after watching a re-run of Rafa's match making minced meat of The Joker in the Queen's Club Final in London a few days ago.   That was a real warning to Fedexpress and the rest of the field that The Bull is very close, very willing and very able to end Roger's Nr.1 reign as Wimbledon king. I mean we all know how good Rafa is on mud, but honestly he looked so so bloody comfortable on grass too! Crikey - I was shocked to be honest! To me it looked as though he's made up his mind and wants to prove to Roger and the whole of the tennis world, past and present, that he isn't a one trick pony. He just won his first grasscourt title, leaving everyone thinking that there's alot more to come...   We all know how brilliant Rafa is on the red dirt, just like we all do agree how awesome Federer is on grass. Winning the Halle Open in Germany was his 59th consecutive grass victory for Fedex. However, receving the news that the Bull had just won In London must not have been the best news Federer had received either!   Nadal said "For sure Roger will have noticed my success here at Queens. For sure I think he's happy for me and I am happy for him"  You can almost audibly hear Nadal saying these words with his strong Spanish accent! But do you think Federer is rapt with Nadal getting so close to him, especially on Fedex favourite surface?!   "You never know what's going on in Wimbledon", Rafa said, "... [More]

AUSSIE'S AFL SCOOPS AFTER ROUND 12

Well boys, here's some interesting 'stuff' that emerged after round 12 in AFL.

The Big news is that the Doggies are firming more and more as premiership favourites. TAB opened them at $51, then they went down to $31 in round 2, moved even further down to $12 by round 7 and this week they've opened at $6. Their 63 pt win against Brisbane really made some real believers out of the Aussie punters.

On another front reports have shown that it was a horrendous week for the bookies this last round. The Bombers were backed from $1.90 down to $1.57!! (that's a huge move in anyone's books) Plenty of money was piled on the Doggies too, from $1.55 down to $1.33. Freo (who woulda' thought!) was backed huge too, from $1.85 to $1.60. Also Sydney was pretty well backed from $1.25 down to $1.15. So it was good to hear the bookies got a pounding this last round. The Hawks too were a bit of a bookie-killer with that last minute win against Adelaide. The only saving grace for the bookies came via Brendan Fevola. Oh mate, that goal was a ripper and that turn around was amazing, but the Pies are a bunch of morons. However, the bookies thought the Pies were gold, as it really saved their butt from a huge hole.

There's an interesting betting option that's just opened with TAB : quinella Swans and Bulldogs at $37! Not a bad option really...if you got some spare cash that is!

Melbourne is still the wooden spoon faves at $1.33 (not a ... [More]

AUSSIE'S Game 4 BOS-LAL...

PlayOffs Record 21W-13L-1P   A few of you have accused me of being a Laker homer (george is getting upset, robbie ) But that's not true at all! Honestly I separate my betting from my heart as far as I can. I never let my emotions get in the way of what I'm about to wager. Let me just state here for the record that when NBA season started, everyone, me included, expected the Celtics to be where they are now. They simply are a bloody brilliant outfit. You can't get better than them, and if you argue with that fact, then you're an idiot with all due respect. Let's just try and forget for a moment about how they got here, past the useless Hawks, or the Cavs and their up n down games against the Pistons. But if you look back in the beginning of the season, that's the real Boston Celtics. Whereas the Lakers... Well no one (perhaps a few die hard fans) expected them to get where they are today. No one thought the Lakers would do well this season, AT ALL! Here in Australia you could get em at 61/1 at one point. Imagine you'd invested a grand back then..you'd be 61 grand richer by the end of game 7  (there goes the Laker homer again I hear you say) Nah but really, the Lakers are the surprise package here and not Boston. But let's get to the point i.e. What does game 4 hold for us as far as our money is concerned? Some books opened the lakers -11.5!!! Most have adjusted back down to 7 now. Great as Boston are, I believe they'll lose tomorrow and the... [More]

A Couple of Thoughts on Fedexpress 2008..

Out of the Mud - Onto the Grass

I hear everyone screaming at me 'Move on mate, what's with you being stuck in the red mud of Roland Garros?' But I just cannot stop thinking about the drubbing that Fedexpress copped under the tutelage of Rafa Nadal!

Not since Pat Rafter nailed Roger at the French Open in 1999 had the world No. 1 lost a grand slam set to love. (Sorry mate - I had to bring in the Aussie pride somehow!)

But Roger was mauled, physically, emotionally and mentally, by the bull who has played 28 matches over four years at Roland Garros - and won them all. You know what? There are some tennis experts that are preaching that Federer is the greatest clay court player ever, but he just so happened to be playing in the same era that the King Of Clay is! Whatever the case, Federer looked and sounded devestated by the end of the match, even long after the closing ceremony, during his press conference, his face and tone said it all.  "I wish it was a different outcome," Federer said, "I don't want to play Rafa again tomorrow, that's for sure."

So do you boys reckon Fedex will ever win the French or is he doomed to join Pistol Pete and a few other legends who were unable to win the toughest of them all - the Roland Garros.

In less than a fortnight, Roger will start as favourite to win Wimbledon (-120), but is he the same Fedexpress that we've all fallen in love with over the last few y... [More]
