Online
betting on super bowl picks offers an endless ocean of fun ways
to approach betting
on Super Bowl XLIII. Where do you start? Do you break down the
O-lines? The receiving corps? There’s no right or wrong answer. For today,
let’s examine the coaching matchup.
Mike Tomlin, a former defensive
backs coach, is a big reason why the Steelers are so strong against the pass.
He may be young at age 36, but he seems to have his players’ ears consistently.
While much of Pittsburgh’s vicious pass rush is attributed to defensive
co-ordinator Dick LeBeau’s “Blitzburgh,” anyone who follows online
betting on super bowl news should remember that Tomlin is the
driving force behind Pittsburgh’s superb secondary.
Ken Whisenhunt brings a special
advantage to online
betting on super bowl analysis as the Cards’ head coach. Not
only is he an offense-first coach who specializes in calling trick plays, he
also served as the offensive co-ordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers’ ... [More]

There’s no shortage of fun
ways to bet on super bowl XLIII, whether you’re going the
traditional route with spreads and lines or trying some super
bowl props picks. Let’s have a look at some interesting
player-related picks for the super
bowl odds this year. Remember, not all of these are sure things,
but they offer good value as “non-favorites” that aren’t total underdog super
bowl betting picks either.
Why not take the “field” for
“player to record the first reception of the game”? You get +1000 value for it
– a nice step up from favorites Larry Fitzgerald (+225) and Anquan Boldin
(+275). The main reason to go with the field: Hines Ward. His bad knee caused
some sportsbook
odds to exclude him from the list of specific player candidates. All
indications are that he’ll play, so super
bowl props betting players can get nice value by picking the
field. After all, Ward led the Steelers in catch... [More]

It’s still early in 2009, but March Madness approaches much
faster than you think. Online sports
betting handicappers are already getting a good look at their brackets to
try and figure out who will be slotted where, and who is on the bubble.
Although the North Carolina Tar Heels started the season as
the team to beat – and the team to beat of the decade – a couple of losses have
pulled them back into the pack. Unless someone loses in front of them – Duke,
Wake Forest, Connecticut or Pittsburgh – they will likely be a No. 2 seed, and
likely one of the best No. 2 seeds of all-time.
Duke has really grown up as a contender as most people who bet sports perceived them to be solid, but
not a premier team. That has not been the case as Duke climbed to No. 1 in the
nation with wins against Top 10 teams like Purdue, Georgetown and Xavier.
Online sports betting
sharps are also going to take Wake Forest seriously, now that they knocked off
the aforementioned Blue Devils, and are playing for keeps in the ACC. In recent
years, the ACC has been Duke, North Carolina and everyone else. Now Wake –
surprisingly – has made that couple into a crowd.
But the conference that everyone is eyeing is the Big East. Marqu... [More]

In just a few weeks, pitchers and catchers will start reporting to MLB training camps. That means the seven-month marathon of MLB betting is set to take over our lives again soon. Before the big leagues get going, though, we can relish the chance to bet on the 2009 World Baseball Classic.
Part of what makes World Baseball Classic betting so interesting is that it gives special opportunities to players who have something to prove, whether they’re total unknowns unveiling bizarre techniques or major leaguers looking to bounce back after down years. Let’s check out the top five players to watch in the World Baseball Classic lines this season.
5. Alex Rios, Puerto Rico
We all know the lanky, metrosexual outfielder has oodles of talent – including a strong arm, great speed and a keen fashion sense – but the power is downright inconsistent. He broke out with 24 long balls in 2007 and even pushed Vlad Guerrero hard ... [More]

NASCAR betting
kicks its season off with the legendary Daytona 500 on February 15 at venerable
Daytona International Speedway, and online
betting players looking over Daytona 500 odds
should consider past winners, especially the stable at Hendrick Motorsports.
Three of Hendrick’s drivers have won the 500 (Jeff
Gordon with three wins, while Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. have one
apiece), while Mark Martin lost by 0.02 seconds to Kevin Harvick in 2007.
Expect all four racers to be near the top of the 2009 Daytona 500
odds.
23-year-old Kyle Busch leads Joe Gibbs Racing to the
green flag as he looks to build on his eight-win campaign from 2008, but 28-year-old
Denny Hamlin, who is actually the veteran of JGR now that Tony Stewart has
started his own team. But most attention will probably go to 18-year-old Joey
Logano, who is replacing Stewart in the #20 Home Depot Toyota. It would
probably be best to avoid the young JGR team’s Daytona 500 odds,
as restrictor-plate racing is a skill best honed by experience.
Speaking of Stewart, he will be th... [More]

According to Super
Bowl odds, the Arizona Cardinals are an underdog once again.
Nobody has believed in them and the story hasn’t changed for Super Bowl XLIII.
The Cardinals
were a three-point home underdog to the Atlanta Falcons, then they were a ten-point
underdog to the Carolina Panthers, and finally they were a four-point home
underdog to the Philadelphia Eagles.
And as we
glance at the Super
Bowl XLIII betting line, the Cardinals are again an underdog,
for the fourth consecutive time in the playoffs. Does that sound familiar?
That’s because the 2008
Super Bowl Champion New York Giants were an underdog in all four
of their playoff games as well.
The Cardinals
have thrived in this “us against the world” role, and they’ll have to again as
they are the underdog NFC representative in the Super Bowl. But often times the
team that is the underdog is not only overlooked by Super
Bowl betting sharps, fans and o... [More]

The steelers
vs cardinals betting line for this Sunday’s Super Bowl is
largely dependent on defense, as many in the online betting community believe
Pittsburgh’s top-ranked unit has the upper hand over Arizona’s high-scoring
offense. Here is a look at some of the defensive props offered for super
bowl betting players.
Total Sacks
Both teams have racked up seven
sacks during this postseason, but the Steelers have played one less game.
However, Pittsburgh was second in the league in sacks, and the Steelers
line in this category is an over/under of 2.5. The Steelers are
favored at -130 to go over, but the Cardinals
line is -135 to go over two sacks, which they should manage as
the Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger holds onto the ball for a long time, behind a
below-average offensive line.
Individual Sacks

Betting
on Super Bowl 43 is as fun as it is complicated; there are a million
different angles you can bet, including the Super Bowl 43 line,
Super
Bowl betting props or the Super Bowl spread.
Today, let’s examine potential surprise heroes in betting
on Super Bowl 43.
Not only can an unsung hero influence your MVP
pick in Super
Bowl betting props, but he can also significantly impact the final result
of the game. While the offensive superstars are getting the press, I think betting
on Super Bowl 43 could come down to whichever team makes mistakes at
crucial moments.
For that reason, I think James Harrison and Troy
Polamalu could have as big an impact on betting
on Super Bowl 43 as anyone. The Cardinals’ line has been outstanding in the

Super
Bowl odds on for the 43rd version of the game have been up for
just over a week now but the super
bowl betting line has moved very little. The line opened at -7, quickly
dropped to -6.5, then climbed back up to seven and has held steady since.
The fact that the Steelers are favored is not a surprise. As
far as public perception of both squads goes, the Steelers are the public team
while the Cardinals are the team that the public seems to doubt.
The Cardinals have been doubted all season long and
essentially made the playoffs because they feasted off of a feeble division.
They have proven to be a weak road team outside of two contests in Carolina,
and a lot of people wonder if their ugly side will surface in the Super Bowl.
Even so, their dismantling of the Philadelphia Eagles was a
surprise and the public has seemingly favored the Cardinals on the super
bowl betting line as more of the action has fallen with them, and not the
publicly recognized product of the Steelers.
With the line sitting at seven, the public play is the
Cardinals while the sharp money is on ... [More]

We’re just six days away from the big game so let’s focus on
some Super
Bowl XLIII betting. The Pittsburgh Steelers are a seven-point favorite
according to the betting
lines for the super bowl and the odds makers have it right.
The Arizona Cardinals have struggled on the road this season
against teams with a winning record. They played well in Carolina twice,
winning the second game in the NFC Divisional Round of the playoffs, but still
had ugly losses at New York, at New England and at Philadelphia.
The Steelers have one of the best defenses in the NFL and as
they say, if you are going to place
a bet on the super bowl, then you should know that defense wins
championships. The Steelers are the more experienced team and quite frankly,
the better team. When you boil it down, the Steelers defense has a better
chance of slowing down the Cardinals offense rather than the Cardinals defense
slowing down the Steelers offense.
One of the main issues for the Cardinals will be the
physicality and the toughness of the Steelers. They are a smash mouth team and
the Cardinals have shown a propensity to be very so... [More]

With the Super
Bowl 43 matchup quickly approaching, let’s take a break from Super Bowl betting and
do something a little more fun. Don’t get upset! We’ll get upset for you as we
look at the top 5 biggest upsets in Super Bowl history:
Super Bowl III – The
Joe Namath Guarantee
New York Jets 16,
Baltimore Colts 7
If we’re doing a list of the biggest upsets in super
bowl betting line history, how can you not include the Joe Namath
guarantee? The Jets were a 17-point underdog on the point spread but Broadway
Joe, a quarterback from the AFL, which was supposed to be the weaker league,
guarantees a victory. And better yet, Namath leads his team - and the AFL - to
victory, which gave the AFL the credibility they needed.
Super Bowl XLII – A
Different Date With Destiny
New York Giants 17,
New England Patriots 14
It wasn’t a question of who
will win the super bowl, but the question was by how much? The New England
Patriots, who achieved perfection throughout the regular season and the
playoffs, were dera... [More]

Super
Bowl XLIII betting is preparing to go to the next level as online sports betting players are getting
all the information they can as they decide who
will win the Super Bowl. Here is a look at the top five (or six) teams that
will be looking back and wondering what went wrong, starting with an AFC
title-game combatant.
Baltimore
The Ravens reached the AFC championship game on the
back of the league’s No.2 defense. The problem is, their rivals from Pittsburgh
had the NFL’s top defense, and the Steelers defeated Baltimore three times this
season, including the death blow in the conference championship game. Joe
Flacco has a spectacular year in his debut season, but he fell on his face
against the Steelers, throwing one touchdown with five picks in those three
meetings. But he shouldn’t feel that bad: Pittsburgh
Steelers odds for Super
Bowl betting show that the Pittsburgh defense isn’t to be taken lightly.

England

Super Bowl XLIII is just weeks away and while most of us our clearing our throat for the cheering, screaming and cursing we’ll be doing, Jennifer Hudson is clearing her throat for a different reason.
Hudson will be singing the national anthem at Super Bowl 43 and the anthem has become a key part of the festivities. Now you can sift through endless list of the Super Bowl props and bet on how long the national anthem will be.
Last year, the over/under for Jordin Sparks rendition was set at 1:19 and it went way over the total. This year, Hudson will also likely go over the number as she figures to hang on every note.
Sports betting aside, there have been a number of memorable national anthems sung. From Natalie Cole’s version in 1994 with Troy Aikman holding his hand to his chest, to Cher’s chilling rendition in 1999, to Whitney Houston’s goos... [More]

The Super Bowl halftime show has long been one of the
biggest spectacles in sports, as well as a sportsbook
favorite, and there are plenty of props for Super
Bowl betting players to bet online.
“The Boss”, Bruce Springsteen, will take to the stage for Super Bowl 43, and
here is a look at the top five halftime shows in the history of the “Big Game”,
and sports wagering
players will be eager to see what is available in the biggest one-day event in
the online sports betting industry.
Prince
– 2007
It was fitting that the Purple one took to the stage at
Dolphin Stadium in Miami, as it poured throughout his set (“Purple Rain” to end
was just brilliant). Still, Prince tore the Super Bowl apart, with some calling
it the best Super Bowl halftime show ever. However, Prince disappointed many online betting players by managing not to
fall during his performance.
Michael
Jackson – 1993
This was probably the first “big” Super Bowl halftime
show, and who better to kick it off than the Gloved One himself? Jackson

Saying you want to punch a hockey player is like
saying you want to “get lucky” with a prostitute. In other words, NHL betting fans, it
means you ain’t saying much. What hockey player doesn’t get punched in the face
from time to time? And what prostitute doesn’t get her man?
That’s why, when those who bet on hockey examine
the top five most “punch-worthy” players, we can’t take the traditional route.
We can’t bring fighters in the discussion. We can’t even consider the true
agitators – we know everyone wants to
slug Sean Avery and Jarko Ruutu. To really learn something new, NHL betting players
must dig deeper. Who are the guys who make your blood boil, who make you want
to slug them in the face – and do it without acts of violence? Who are the
douchebags who drive people crazy with their smug expressions or goofy chatter
alone?
Let’s break down the guys who make online betting players insane for almost
unexplainable reasons.
And if you think I forgot Alex Kovalev, watch
this. You’ll never want to punch him again.

Online sports betting
handicappers are going to get a chance to see quite the improbable NFC
Championship Game this Sunday in the Eagles
vs Cardinals matchup.
Last year, the No. 6 seed New York Giants won the Super Bowl
so on some levels, it shouldn’t be overly surprising that the No. 4 seeded
Cardinals will host the No. 5 seeded Eagles in the Championship game. But it’s
hard to fathom as the Cardinals finished the season on a 2-4 stretch with the
four losses coming by an average of 24 points per game and the Eagles at one point
tied the lowly Cincinnati Bengals and benched quarterback Donovan McNabb.
Sportsbook
odds have the Eagles as a three-point favorite on the road in this contest as
the public still doesn’t believe the Cardinals stand much of a chance in this
contest. These two teams met in Week 13 when the Eagles dismantled the
Cardinals 48-20. The problem for the Cardinals is that the Eagles are just the
exact type of defense that is perfectly tailored to foil them.
Those who bet online
know that strength of the Eagles defense is two-fold: rushing the passer and
the secondary. With defensive coordinator Ji... [More]

Off
to Tampa Bay we go for Super
Bowl XLIII, otherwise known as Super
Bowl 43, otherwise known as the Super Bowl for the 2008-09 season. On top of the fact that it will pit
the champion from the American Football Conference (AFC) and National Football
Conference (NFC), the Super Bowl will be the most watched event of the year as
well as the heaviest bet event of the year.
Online sports betting handicappers know
that betting the Super Bowl is a little different than betting a regular
football game. For the Super Bowl, there are plenty more bets than just the
regular point spread. Sportsbook
odds will be several pages long as every sports book will
post plenty of propositional bets on everything you can think of. From whether
the coin toss will be heads or tails, to an over/under for how long the anthem
will take to sing, to whether the first play from scrimmage will be a run or a
pass, you can find odds on anything for the Super Bowl.
While
there are plenty of gimmicky-type propositional bets, there are also a lot of
propositional bets that pre... [More]

The first half of the season is almost complete, and NBA betting players
have witnessed some surprises and disappointments so far. Here is a list of
what has raised some eyebrows this season, mostly good, but with a bad to end
the list.
New
Jersey Nets
The Nets are currently at .500, and outside of Devin
Harris, Vince Carter, and rookie Brook Lopez, the rest of the squad is a mash
of journeymen. Not to mention the Nets are better on the road than they are at
home. If they figure out how to win in front of their fans this year, expect
their NBA betting
stock to rise dramatically.
Orlando
Magic
The Magic were always good, but now they can be
mentioned with Boston and Cleveland as the class of the East. Dwight Howard is,
far and away, the best center in the league, but no one saw Jameer Nelson
becoming one of the best point guards in the league. If Nelson can continue to
impress, the Magic’s NBA
betting chances will be very favorable.
Denver
Nuggets
The trade that sent Allen Iverson to Detroit for
Chauncey Billups was a godsend for the Nuggets, as it put them smack in the
middle of the... [More]

Ah, the NHL Winter Classic. I can still smell the
cold, windy air of Chicago, and it’s glorious. How successful was the event,
for NHL betting
players and hockey fans alike? Well, let’s just say it was…as much a success as
The Adventures of Pluto Nash was a
failure. And that’s saying a lot.
Anyone who likes to bet on hockey likely
made a wager on the game. Hopefully you made the right choice and bet on the
savvy wings. NHL
lines don’t come harder to predict than that game was, but the home team
always struggles outside for some reason. With the Winter Classic such a hit, online sports betting
fans are already wondering which city will host the event next. Let’s take a
look at the top five candidates. NHL betting fans can
rule out Canadian cities for now – this event is about generating more interest
south of the border, and hockey is doing just fine up north.
Those who bet on hockey should also
note that baseball stadiums and college football stadiums, not NFL sta... [More]
