There are plenty of sporting events hopping up on the radar
such as boxing betting,
the Belmont
Stakes odds and the French
Open odds, but the NHL playoffs have finally reached the finals. For only
the second time in NHL history, there will be a Stanley Cup Finals rematch, and
here are five reasons why this year will be different than the last:
1. The Penguins Are
The Hottest Team In The NHL
It might feel like a distant memory, but at one point in the
season, the Pittsburgh Penguins were one of the worst teams in the Eastern
Conference. On January 14th, they were 21-20-4 and a month later,
when they were still hovering around .500, they fired head coach Michel
Therrien. Since that time, the Penguins finished the regular season 18-3-3.
There is no team playing better hockey, and oftentimes the hottest team is the
one that wins the Cup.
2. Penguins Have An
Advantage In Net
The Detroit Red Wings are still relying on 36-year-old
goaltender Chris Osgood to lead the way, and while he has been steady in the
playoffs so far, he was a weakness in the regular season. Osgood had a 3.09 GAA
then, but he’s down to just 2... [More]

The NHL has its dream Stanley
Cup Final odds rematch with Pittsburgh and Detroit, and the UFC has its own
dream matchups for UFC 100, but those who frequent their sportsbook online
shouldn’t forget about UFC 99. Sure, it doesn’t have any big title fights, but
it should be an extremely entertaining card, featuring a plethora of aggressive
fighters with a lot to prove. Let’s make some UFC odds picks.
Rich
Franklin (26-4) vs Wanderlei Silva (32-9-1)
Sportsbook
online odds: Franklin -140, Silva +110
The main event for UFC 99 pits two sluggers
against each other in a battle of storied fighters who may be exiting their
primes. Franklin has had a dominant career but hasn’t been the same since
Anderson Silva pummeled him twice at middleweight. He jumped up to 205 pounds
and destroyed Matt Hamill before losing a questionable decision to Dan
Henderson. Yet Franklin, a former math teacher, is one of the most likeable
guys in MMA betting, with exciting knockout power.
He faces the always-intimidating Wanderlei Silva.
Known for his heavy hands, Silva is among the most aggressive fighters on the
planet, rarely taking a step backward in the octagon. He’ll certainly flash big
power in this catc... [More]

Baseball betting
players love a good rivalry, and there is no shortage of them in the majors, starting
in the American League East, where a pair of perennial sportsbook favorites will always draw a
crowd.
New
York Yankees vs Boston Red Sox
Even the casual fan knows of the bitter Yankees-Red Sox
rivalry. The Red Sox sold Babe Ruth to the Yankees back in 1920, and the Boston
faithful didn’t see a World Series win until 2004. The Yankees won 26 World
Series during that time. Last year, Tampa Bay won the AL East, and Toronto is
off to a good start this season, but baseball betting players know that the
road in the East goes through Boston or New York.
Chicago
Cubs vs St. Louis Cardinals
These two are the frontrunners in the National League
Central, and their proximity to each other is also a major factor. They’ve
combined to win (at least a share) the last nine division titles. The rivalry
took on a different persona in 1998, when St. Louis’ Mark McGwire and Chicago’s
Sammy Sosa dueled it out for the home-run title. McGwire finished with 70
homers and the Cardinals went to the playoffs, while Sosa had 66 dingers and
won the MVP award.
New
York Mets vs Philadelphia Phillies

Adam Jones – Free
Agent
Pacman Jones is to the NFL is what Rachel Alexandra is to the Preakness odds:
the most talked-about contributor. After a long list of off-field issues that
include felony vandalism and several arrests for disorderly conduct, he was
involved in nightclub shootings in both Atlanta and Las Vegas. He’s already
spent one year out of football due to suspension and he’ll probably spend more
time vacationing, as no one really wants a piece of this troublemaker.
Plaxico Burress – Free
Agent
If Jones is Rachel Alexandra, then Plaxico Burress is the
Eight Belles of Preakness
betting. Like Eight Belles, Burress also had a “leg injury” when he shot
himself with a loaded, unlicensed gun. Good news is that while he survived it –
he didn’t exactly help his public relations cause. Burress was cut from his
team and nobody wants to touch him with a 10-foot pole. He’s on the waiver-wire
and should be facing a long league-imposed suspension.
Sebastian Janikowski
– Oakland Raiders
Let’s kick it back old school, as it’s hard to forgive and
forget about Oakland Raiders first-round pick Sebastian Janikowski. Before
Janikowksi reached the NFL, he already had... [More]

If you follow MLB odds at all,
you’ve probably heard this chant at a game:
“OVER-RATED! CLAP-CLAP, CLAP-CLAP-CLAP.”
They tantalize you with their gaudy minor league
numbers, magical rookie seasons or colorful personalities. Maybe they lead you
astray at the sportsbook
too. It’s time for those betting online to get revenge on the most overrated
players in baseball betting by nailing their names to this top-10 list.
Without further ado, let’s review the most
overrated players in MLB odds today.
10. Jeff
Francoeur – outfielder, Atlanta Braves
His cannon arm and quick bat earned him the nickname
“the Natural” and landed him on the cover of Sports Illustrated as a rookie, but it’s been all downhill since
then. I don’t care how toolsy you are, Jeff – you can’t hit a breaking ball.
You strike out four times as often as
you walk.
9. Troy Tulowitzki
– shortstop, Colorado Rockies
This one pains me, as I really love him as a
player both offensively and defensively, but he’s getting too much mileage out
of one good season. If h... [More]

Underrated and overrated is a frequent debate in the NFL.
Who is playing to their worth, salary and public perception, and who is falling
short of expectations? These are all
important factors to consider when you’re involved in NFL betting. Let’s take a look at which players fall into
the underrated category and are still not receiving the praise they deserve:
Anthony Gonzalez,
Wide Receiver – Indianapolis Colts
One player who affects the Colts
odds more than you think is wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez. He’s been used
mostly in the slot to date, but last year he took on a major role on the
outside as Marvin Harrison went from being a Pro Bowl caliber wideout to
waiver-wire junk.
Gonzalez now has 94 receptions, 1240 yards and seven
touchdowns in his first two seasons, but more importantly is his ability to
move the chains. He’s done exactly that 63 of their 94 receptions.
Matt Forte, Running
Back – Chicago Bears
Without rookie running back Matt Forte, the Bears
odds for this season wouldn’t be as high as they are – even with Jay Cutler
at... [More]
