Florida vs Alabama odds for the SEC title
game signifies the impending end of the college football season, which means
basketball will soon take center stage in the NCAA. Before you start figuring
out who your NCAA basketball betting pick will be for the “Big Dance”, refresh
your memory with a list of the top five memories from last year’s Tournament.
1) Wayne Ellington
getting the MOP over Ty Lawson
Ellington had a good Final Four and all, but the one thing
I’ll remember most about North Carolina’s championship last year is the feeling
of confusion I had when they gave the Most Outstanding Player award to
Ellington and not Ty Lawson, who was the engine that made the high-powered Tar
Heels go. Lawson had 22 points, eight assists and seven boards in the Final
Four game against Villanova, and then 21 points, six assists and eight steals
(an NCAA title game record) in the clinching game against Michigan State. The
Tar Heels would have stood a better NCAA basketball betting chance without
Ellington than they did without Lawson, who missed the first game with a sprained
ankle.
2) More troubles for
the No.5 seed
When going to your online sportsbook for the first round of
the Tournament, you have to know that No.5 seeds have a major problem with the
No.12s, beating them only 66% of the time. Three No.5s went down last year
(Arizona over Utah, Wisconsin over Florida State and Western Kentucky over
Illinois), and even Purdue had trouble in a tight win over Northern Iowa. So
next year, if your team is a No.5 seed, say a prayer and stay away from their NCAA basketball betting odds.
3) Biggest Upset of
the Tournament
No.11 Dayton was a 10-point NCAA basketball betting underdog
in your online
sportsbook against No.6 West Virginia, but Chris Wright had a huge day with
27 points and 10 boards, while the Flyers held the Mountaineers to 36.7% from
the floor in a 68-60 upset. Dayton then went on to get defeated by Kansas in the next round.
4) Best Game of the
Tournament
No.3
Villanova met Big East rival and top-seeded Pitt in the East regional final,
and it was a typically physical affair. The difference was Scottie Reynolds’
layup with one second left on the clock to seal a 78-76 win for the Wildcats.
Villanova would go on to lose to North Carolina in the Final Four, but not
without adding another chapter in the book of NCAA Tournament last-second
finishes.
5) “One Shining Moment”
It
has nothing to do with NCAA basketball betting, but “One
Shining Moment” is annually the best three minutes of the Tournament, and
it’s hard to imagine the championship game without it. Even internet betting
players have to get choked up about it.
