Colt McCoy, QB, Texas

McCoy finished second to Bradford in the 2008 voting, as he was third in QB rating, just ahead of Tebow. McCoy led his Longhorns to a win over the Sooners in the “Red River Rivalry”, yet it was Oklahoma who got the chance to go to the BCS title game, which was a major reason that McCoy returned for another year on the Texas campus. Out of the top three, McCoy was probably the most touted coming out of high school, improving his stats in each of his three years. He also turned into a deadly goal-line rusher with 11 scores. The sophomore is rated at +800 to be the first running back since USC’s Reggie Bush in 2005 to win the Heisman.

Jahvid Best, RB, California

An online betting darkhorse at +1000, Best exploded for 1,580 yards and 15 touchdowns as a sophomore, coming in fifth in the nation in rushing. He also won the Offensive MVP in the Golden Bears’ Emerald Bowl win over Miami (FL), going for 186 yards and a pair of scores.
