UConn Put to the Test against UNC

Online sports wagering enthusiasts and NCAA football betting sharps will have an exciting sports wagering opportunity this weekend as two unfamiliar faces to the college football elite do battle on Saturday.

After a victory over Louisville last week in NCAAF betting, the Connecticut Huskies jumped to 5-0, and all the way up to No. 24 in the nation. This marks just the second time in school program history that the Huskies have made it to the Top 25, after last season’s surprising performance. UConn rallied late and edged out the 26-21 victory thanks to an interception by linebacker Lawrence Wilson, which he returned 45 yards for the major. This was the first true test that the UConn defensive corps had to survive—a late game surge against a respectable opponent.

The bad news is that quarterback Tyler Lorenzen is now gone 6-8 weeks, after marching the team to respectability. This puts backup Zach Frazer at the helm for this key matchup. That might not be too scary for Huskies fans however. He certainly has talent... [More]

MLB Playoff Betting - Red Sox vs. Angels Game 2

The Boston Red Sox opened defense of their World Series title with a successful opening game against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The Sox trailed 1-0 early, but a two-run blast in the sixth inning by OF Jason Bay and a pair of runs in the ninth propelled Boston to a 4-1 victory to take the 1-0 lead in the best-of-five ALDS.

John Lester was fantastic, going seven strong innings, giving up just one unearned run to go with his seven strikeouts. John Lackey was a bit of a tough luck loser, as he only allowed the Bay two-run dinger over 6.2 innings. Jonathan Papelbon struck out the side in the 9th to record his fifth career playoff save. He has now thrown 15.2 scoreless innings in his career in the postseason.

Online sports betting Red Sox fans picked up a nice victory in Game 1 as +130 underdogs, while those who wagered on the ‘under’ cashed an easy winner.

Playoff baseball of late may as well just be renamed “Soxtober.” The Red Sox have owned Anaheim, winning ten straight playoff games against the Halos. As if things could get no worse for the Angels, RHP Daisuke Matsuzaka will be on the hill on Friday. “Dice-K” has a legitimate claim to the AL Cy Young Award, as he won 18 games in just 29 starts. The righty went 18-3 overall, but perhaps even more impressive was Boston’s 23-6 rec... [More]

Streaking Buccaneers Hit Road To Face ‘Defenseless’ Broncos

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1 SU, 3-1-0 ATS, 3-1-0 O/U), have won three straight games in the BetUS Sportsbook after dropping their season opener and are looking like legitimate Super Bowl contenders in the NFC.

The Denver Broncos, (3-1 SU, 1-2-1 ATS, 4-0-0 O/U), got off to a solid 3-0 start before falling to the lowly Kansas City Chiefs 33-19 on Sunday.

Now the teams hook up in a contest that should reveal a lot about both teams.

The Broncos used a powerful offense that scored at least 34 points each time out to win their first three games, but have been absolutely atrocious on defense this season and allowed running back Larry Johnson to roll up 198 rushing yards on 28 carries.

"I'm disappointed. We could've played better," Broncos safety Marlon McCree said. "The thing about a loss like that... [More]

NCAAF Week Six Picks - Florida State Seminoles vs. Miami Hurricanes

Online sports wagering enthusiasts and NCAA football betting sharps might be a tad more excited out this matchup if it were taking place roughly ten years ago. Both Florida State and Miami’s football programs have been undergoing a bit of rebuilding as of late. Gone are the days of Deion Sanders, Warrick Dunn, Ray Lewis and Ed Reed, and this likely won’t mirror the 1987 matchup between these schools—we highly doubt that 50 future NFLers are on these rosters. But nonetheless, the Seminoles-Hurricanes rivalry is a historic one, and one that creates a special energy every time it is revisited.

Sports bettors are most certainly eyeing up the Florida State Seminoles in this contest. After a shocking loss to perennial underdog Wake Forest, the ‘Noles bounced back and turned in a dominating performance against Colorado. While the final score doesn’t reflect complete domination—39-21—the Seminoles outscored the Buffaloes 18-0 in the second half. Florida State will be riding that momentum right into this game—as if they needed any extra motivation!

Miami, meanwhile, faltered against an upstart North Carolina squad. The Hurricanes played well throughout the game, controlling the ball well. Running back Graig Cooper r... [More]
