Padres and Rockies kick off a three game series

The Padres and Rockies go at it in the first of a three game series on Friday night.  The Padres have been on fire lately winning at an incredible clip, but they face the Rockies on the road and in the Rockies’ stadium where Colorado has been good enough to put up runs.  Colorado sends pitcher Jason Marquis to the mound.  Marquis has gone 6 and 3 on the season but his ERA of 4.45 isn’t that great.  His WHIP of 1.29 isn’t stellar either, but it’s not that bad.

San Diego counters Marquis with pitcher Chris Young.  The huge right-hander has been worse than Marquis so far this year.  Young has gone 4 and 2 for a 4.72 ERA and a WHIP of 1.38.

Here is the BetUS Sportsbook betting line for this game.

The Boston Red Sox, who sit atop the A.L. East Division, take on the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night in the third of a four game series.  The Red Sox and Twins have split the first two games with Boston losing to the Twins 2 to 5 in the last game.  Boston sends pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka to the mound.  Dice-K hasn’t had a great 2009 so far with an 0 and 2 record, a 10.32 ERA, and a 2.29 WHIP.

The Minnesota Twins counter Dice-K with pitcher Kevin Slowey.  Slowey is doing very well this year even though his ERA of 4.23 isn’t that great.  His record of 6 and 1 and his WHIP of 1.39 make him the favorite in this matchup.

New York Yankees at Toronto Blue Jays - Game 2

It didn’t take long for the Yankees to get after starting pitcher Scott Richmond last night as they put up a five spot in the second, chasing the young right-hander after just 1+ innings. A big part of the offence, finally, for New York was Mark Teixeira, who has had a horrific start to the season and had been flirting with the Mendoza line. He has yet to offer any technical explanations for his early struggles as a Bronx Bomber, but I’m sure there were more than a few people wondering what the hell was going on with their eight-year, $180 million dollar man.

Slump aside, the big slugger had a 2-for-4 showing which got his average from.191 to .202, and maybe that will be the psychological monkey off Teixeira’s back. With the return of Alex Rodriguez, he now has someone protecting him in the four hold and will allow him to be more ag... [More]

San Diego Padres vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

The San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers resume their rivalry on Friday night with both teams sending their aces to the mound.  Jake Peavy, for the Padres, used to be one of the most feared pitchers in all of baseball, but things haven’t been going that well for him so far this season.  Peavy is 2 and 3 with a 5.74 ERA.  His WHIP is 1.47.  The problem for bettors when it comes to Peavy is that he was awful in the World Baseball Classic as well.  It means that Peavy might be done as a pitcher at this level.

The Dodgers send hot shot youngster Clayton Kershaw to the mound.  Kershaw hasn’t been any better than Peavy going 0 and 2 with a 7.29 ERA for a 1.43 WHIP.
