I blinked this weekend and when I opened my eyes, the superstars were lying on the mat like they had been mugged in the alley. Shawne Merrimen and Osi Umenyiora were the two big defensive studs to go down with knee injuries. Meanwhile Chad Johnson has a strained labrum, which is going to be more of a pain to the Bengals football betting faithful than him.
So how does this affect our NFL betting futures for the Super Bowl? Even more pertinent, what immediate impact does this have? Let’s gun down a weekend review and get you caught up to speed!
Shawne Merrimen (DE) – San Diego Chargers (+450 to win AFC)
Those perceived mighty at one time don’t just fall hard – they fall fast. Since the whole steroids debacle from a few years back, Merrimen’s numbers have dropped off slightly. Last season he had 68 tackles a... [More]

Either the Bears or the Browns are going to finish the preseason without a victory, as those two winless squads square off in Cleveland on Thursday night. Most NFL betting fans may not think the preseason means much, but the Bears and Browns may want to fight for a win on Thursday because teams that go winless in the preseason have tended to do just as bad once the season gets underway.
Since 1988 there have been 35 teams that have posted a goose egg in the win column in the preseason. From those 35 teams only two of them made the playoffs, and both of them lost in the Super Bowl.
The Bears bottomed out at 0-3 last week after losing to San Francisco 37-30 as a 3.5-point home favorite on the football odds. Kyle Orton let head coach Lovie Smith know he made the right decision naming him the starting QB after completing 10-of-17 pass attempts for 147 yards with two touchdowns. Rex Grossman also made Smith look smart by ... [More]

The NBA rookie class has an obvious and immediate effect on their team. The NFL rookie class don’t necessarily get to shine that much…unless they’re named Adrian Peterson (and play for the Vikings).
The standard expectations are simple: Quarterbacks and receivers take three years to develop. Defensive linemen take two seasons to adjust, while linebackers can have immediate effects. Running-backs are the only offensive players that can step in and play big-time off the cuff. Meanwhile, offensive linemen get lost in the shuffle unless they’re so bad that they put themselves on the “bust” radar. Yes, Robert Gallery, I’m talking about you.
So who’s in and on the way up? Who came in to soon? Which fantasy football picks should draft high? They’re right here.

Changes in the NFL occur on a daily basis. For online NFL betting fans, keeping up with the myriad changes is a never ending process. I believe that all changes, for online football betting fans, need to be looked at from an online sportsbook betting point-of-view.
After all, all NFL betting fans are football fans, but we still have money at stake in these games, right? We may root for the Patriots or Saints, but the bottom line determines how we really feel about who we want to win, or lose, football games.
Before I get into some of the big changes that occurred in the NFL, I need to say that the loss of Gene Upshaw at the age of 63 to pancreatic cancer is going to have a decided affect on the league. Not only was Upshaw a great guy, but Upshaw brought free agency to NFL players. Fans may hate free agency but for NFL gamblers, free agency brings many more online betting opportunities. When teams change year to year, overlays inevitably follow. Case in point? The New England Patriots who have tons of issues on defense. This team is no where near worth an on... [More]

Each and every NFL season, there is at least one or two ‘surprise’ teams in the league that catch everyone off guard, including longtime NFL handicappers and analysts as well as the die-hard fans of these respective teams, by exceeding all expectations.
In 2007, the Cleveland Browns were the one team that seemingly came out of nowhere to record an impressive 10-6 record despite the fact that most NFL experts predicted the Browns to fail miserably.
Now, as the 2008 NFL regular season quickly approaches, BetUS NFL online sports wagering enthusiasts that are gearing up for another wagering season, want to know which team or teams could surprise in 2008 while putting more money in NFL bettors’ respective bankrolls.
Here is a quick look at several NFL t... [More]

The Giants are your returning Superbowl Champions. It still astonishes my mind to write that sentence. This division, as always, is the most difficult to predict for sports betting enthusiasts wagering on the NFL. Most NFL gambling experts, myself included, predicted that the Giants would struggle to make the playoffs, let alone win the Superbowl. The Eagles, Cowboys and Redskins will all be looking to knock the champs off the top of the mountain. If anything’s for certain in the NFC East, it’s that the race is wide open.
THE FAVORITE – Dallas Cowboys (-110 to win division)
America’s Team is back with a vengeance. After letting the Giants slip past them in the post season, Jerry Jones and the Boys are back to shoot ‘em all and let Roger Godell sort ‘em out. They’re young, motivated and extremely confident. Does that mean the oddsmakers will draw the hard line with them? Probably.
Terry Glenn is officially gone, leaving the receiving duties in hand for Patrick Crayton Sam “Have You” Hurd and Terrell Owens. While Tony Romo proved to be a miracle man on occasion, his lackadaisical attitude last season cost the Cowboys in the playoffs. That won’t happen again if Romo is as competitive as we all believe.
The addition of Felix Jones will make the rushing game lethal, while Pacman Jones has the turned the Cowboy... [More]
