The Padres and Rockies go at it in the first of a three game series on Friday night.  The Padres have been on fire lately winning at an incredible clip, but they face the Rockies on the road and in the Rockies’ stadium where Colorado has been good enough to put up runs.  Colorado sends pitcher Jason Marquis to the mound.  Marquis has gone 6 and 3 on the season but his ERA of 4.45 isn’t that great.  His WHIP of 1.29 isn’t stellar either, but it’s not that bad.

San Diego counters Marquis with pitcher Chris Young.  The huge right-hander has been worse than Marquis so far this year.  Young has gone 4 and 2 for a 4.72 ERA and a WHIP of 1.38.

Here is the BetUS Sportsbook betting line for this game.

San Diego Padres
Chris Young – R                     +1 ½ -170        +110                O 10 -125

Colorado Rockies
Jason Marquis – R                -1 ½ +150        -130                 U 10 +105

Here are a few online wagering trends for this game.

The San Diego Padres are 6 and 1 in their last 7 games as an underdog.

The San Diego Padres are 7 and 0 in Chris Young’s last 7 starts on a Friday night.

The Colorado Rockies are 0 and 5 in their last 5 games at home.

The Colorado Rockies are 0 and 6 in their last 6 games as the favorite.

The Rockies just aren’t as good as San Diego this year.  Jason Marquis might be able to keep this game close, but San Diego has been terrific lately and no doubt should be able to get some runs on the board at Coors Field.

The Padres are going off at better odds than the Rockies, have the trends in their favor, and are playing much better than Colorado.

There is no reason that I can see to even consider a wager on the Rockies in this game.  I see Colorado losing straight up in this.

I’m going to bet the hot team to win.  That’s San Diego at +110 in the sportsbook.
