MLB Baseball Betting Odds
Los Angeles Angels (33-29) at San Francisco Giants (34-29)
Tuesday, June 16

BetUS MLB betting odds:  Giants -130, Angels +110, Total 9

Left-hander Jonathan Sanchez (2-6, 4.92 ERA) takes the mound for the Giants, while Sean O'Sullivan, a right-hander, makes his major league debut for the Angels.

Here are some of the MLB Baseball betting trends as they relate to this matchup:

* LA has won four of its last five games
* LA has lost four of its last six road games
* SF has won five of its last seven games
* SF has won nine of its last 11 home games

In the HEAD-TO-HEAD sports betting trends:

* LA has won four of the last six meetings
* SF has won seven of the last ten meetings as the home team

In the series opener John Lackey turned in a workmanlike performance, giving up three runs in seven innings for the Angels. The other guy on the mound, Barry Zito, got hammered, surrendering seven runs as Los Angeles powered its way to a 9-7 win on Monday. San Francisco had won three straight over Oakland on the weekend, and that streak was snapped, while the Angels won their fourth in a row. The Angels are gaining ground on the Texas Rangers, trailing them by just two games in the American League West. As for the Giants, they've got a ways to go to catch up to the Dodgers in the NL West, but they are out in front of the wild card race, a half game ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals and a full game in front of the New York Mets.

Los Angeles has just sent Kelvim Escobar to the disabled list, and that leaves a hole in the rotation. Top fill it, the Angels have brought up Sean O'Sullivan from Salt Lake. O'Sullivan made ten starts at the Triple-A level, and compiled an ERA of 6.02. He's a youngster (21) and has made a rapid rise through the Angels' system, winning 16 games in the Single-A class last season.

Jonathan Sanchez has had a 5.52 ERA in his last three starts, although there was an improvement last time out, as he surrendered a single run in 5-2/3 innings against Atlanta. The problem was that he walked seven batters in that game.

Just look at those Angels, though. They have scored 35 runs in the last four games and have got that offense going. Being without Torii Hunter tonight might have some impact, as Hunter has hit four home runs in the last four games (He bruised his ribs crashing into a wall on Monday). However, it appears that the rest of the lineup is playing with some confidence. The Giants are not a good offensive team (just four runs per game), and seeing a guy they haven't seen before may be enough to throw them off a bit.

We're going to take the underdog Angels, priced at +110 in the BetUS Major League Baseball betting odds.

JAY'S PLAY:  L.A. ANGELS (+110) **
(Graded on a scale of 1-4 stars)
