Steve Phillips wasn’t about to let David Letterman get all the hot, steamy spotlight action with young intern mistresses. The former manager of the New York Mets has taken a sudden leave of absence after his mistress, Brooke Hundley, stopped off at his house to confess her sins to Phillips’ wife with a well planned out letter. The fact that one of ESPN’s baseball analysts had an affair with an intern isn’t even the best part of the story. The juiciest detail is that Brooke Hundley would average about a 2.3 on a scale of a hundred.
Basically Phillips and Brooke slept together a few times, exchanged some dirty text messages and all the same boring crap that comes along when a wealthy and successful TV sports personality sexes an intern that majored in sociopathic behavior with an undergrad in “destroying marriages”. Truth be told, Phillips tried to end things with the former ESPN intern, and that’s when things got uglier than Brooke Hundley herself.
The young girl went off the deep end and started stalking Phillips’ sons on Facebook under a fake alias, bombarding Phillips with the standard “I LOVE YOU! YOU CAN’T LEAVE ME!” text messages. The camel’s back snapped in half when Phillips’ wife came home to find Hundley dropping off a letter confessing all the scandalous details of their sordid affair.
When Hundley saw Phillips’ wife, she jumped in to her car, backed straight in to a pole and then tore off across the front lawn. Stressed and terrified for her children’s safety, Phillip’s wife then called 911…a call which was leaked to the press and paraded around the internet for everyone to hear.
On top of that, the letter itself was released by the national media exposing both Hundley’s insanity and Phillip’s infidelity. And David Letterman thought he had it bad. The bad news is that Phillips is getting a divorce, no guy with an ounce of self respect will ever touch Hundley again and there’s no strange baby involved because – gasp! – Phillips had a vasectomy, which kind of suggests how bare bones this whole mess has become.
And you know what? If you’re even getting any pleasure out of this, I’ve got news for you. You’re the sicko. Brooke Hundley was at least in love, and Steve Phillips is a man so he should be allowed to do whatever he damn well pleases. Haven’t any of us learned anything from “Mad Men”? Watching that show makes me miss the days of the past where men could have affairs in privacy in peace and woman understood that writing letters to a man’s family was a serious no-no.
By the way, if you can’t register the sarcasm in that last paragraph, then you’re probably as stupid and psychologically imbalanced as Brooke Hundley. Hopefully, for your sake, you’re not as much of an eye soar as she is. Jesus Christ, Steve Phillips. You ruined your career and your marriage, and scarred your sons, for that?!
