New York Giants come into this weekend’s matchup with Arizona with a bitter taste in their mouth thanks to Drew Brees and the Saints. They’ll be looking exact some revenge from their Week 6 shellacking by making a defensive statement against another one of the NFL’s high powered offenses, the Arizona Cardinals at Giants Stadium on Sunday at 8 PM ET.
Their 48-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints opened some eyes around the league and forced the question, are the Giants really as good as we think they are? Both fans and betting backers were left eating crown as they failed to cover as the 3-point road underdog.
Eli Manning was hurried all day and completed just 14 of 31 passes for 178 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Hakeem Nicks was the only bring spot as he caught five passes for 114 yards with one touchdown in the loss.
The Cardinals will be looking to build on last weeks BIG win over division rivals, Seattle Seahawks. They picked a good time to start putting it all together on offense and defense as this Sunday figures to be an all out battle, on national television no less.
For both teams, the key to success will be establishing a running game. You’ve got to believe that Tom Coughlin ripped apart his defense, or what was left of them after Drew Brees shredded them, all week in practice and they’ll be itching to take it out on Kurt and the Cardinals.
Hightower has been running the ball well for Arizona, which is a good thing since Wells has been a bust so far this year. Brandon Jacobs has been quiet all year and will need to break out of his slump if he wants to keep getting touches.
If you’re laying down a bet on this one, look for the Giants to shut down the Cardinals and cover the
7 point spread.
