ADD:

after looking closer at tonights game IMO this game will be decided by two things: Quarterback play and Special Teams

Pitt has the clear advantage with the senior Stull. His numbers have improved greatly from last year to this year

08) 57.7%   7.1 pass att   and a td/int ratio of 9/10

09) 66.7%   8.5 pass att   and a td/int ratio of 13/3

Rutgers rolls with the freshman Tom Savage. His numbers are

09)56.5%   8.2 pass att    and a td/int ration of 4/0

I feel experience and improved play gives a slight edge to Pitt.

The big advantage for Pitt tonight in a cold game with 2 good run defenses on the field is going to be special teams.

Field goals

Pitt Dan Hutchins 100% on 7 fg attempts

Rutg San San Te 66.7%

Kick returns

Pitt Cameron Saddler averaging 31.5

Rutg McCourty averaging 16.7

Punt returns

Pitt Smith 6.4 per return

Rutg Sanu 2.5 per return

Both teams have solid punters so thats a wash.

And Finally something I find very interesting!!!!!!!!!!

Red Zone Offense:

Drives  scores  pts  rush  pass fg    %

Pitt  28       25        150   11    8     6    89   #32 in country

Rutg 19       14        76    7      1     6    74   #100

Red Zone Defense:

Pitt  16        10        62    5      3     2    63  #3 in country

Rutg 10         9        56    3      4     2    90  #97 in country

Sacks Allowed:

Rutgers   14 for 89 yards

Pitt          4 for 23

Pitt -6  2 units/ under 45 1/2  1 unit

I went to UCLA and I watch the Bruins very closely.  I don't think I'm going to bet on UCLA again this season, because they are so flimsy.  Last week going into halftime up 3-0.  They come out and give up 21 points in the first 4 mins of 2nd half.

That's not to say Cal is much better.  They're last few games they looked pitiful, no offense and absolutely nothing to show they deserve to be in the Top 25.

This game basically comes down to two teams trying to show that they are not absolute garbage.  If I had to choose one though, I'd go UCLA.  They are so hot and cold and after two bad weeks, I'll think they'll finally show up to play at home.  I'm gonna stay away from this one, but I'll obviously be cheering for the Bruins.
