American or European? The British Open advantage.

It is this time of the year when I start pondering which tour will come out on top in the British. A lot of European players are posting low numbers on their tour this year, granted an argument can be made that our tour events are held on harder layouts but week in and week out they trim us with the final number.
I always find myself wishing for an American to bust up the field and it seems the British is the only spot where we send some serious competition. 11 times in the last twenty years a US player has come away with the title. Will this be one of those years.?
With Padrig,Poulter and Kymer this year might be a good spot for another European to come away with the British.but if Tiger or any number of our guys bring that A game we might be waving a US flag.
In any event the British is upon us and soon enough we will know which flag will be in the winners circle.

It is always an in teresting topic. I have always thought Kaymer would play well on the PGA tour but every time he comes over he struggles mightly, then you see the likes of Villegas and Weekley go to the euro tour and do the same. I think the guys who hop back and forth usually do well, casey, els, goosen, scott, poulter, singh both of them. I think by default the possible scotish weather favors the euros just because they are more used to it, but you get weather like last week in scotland which happens once a decade then the courses play more PGA like. It will not be hard and brown like st andrews was a couple years ago. i find it the most interesting tournament with the masters every year may be because i was born in london or maybe because i like watching golf early in the morning. Cant see Paddy winning again althoug last year this time he was playing shit going in also.

Gota like tiger, but after that could see a donald or poulter, duval or scott even playing well. Whatney is strong, els goosen. either way cant wait til thirsday morning.

I will play a couple top 5's including scott, duval, poulter and will let you know.

There are some interesting guys in the field that could surprise. Martin KAYMER has been red hot, winning the French and Scottish Opens back-to-back. Soren KJELDSEN looks ready with nothing worse that a T13th in his last 4 events.Ian POULTER is playing great golf, six top 20s in a row.
Steve STRICKER looked Tiger-like last week at the Deere, if he can keep it going he'll be tough to beat. Hunter MAHAN has done no worse than T6 in his last 3 events and he tied for 7th two years ago, I like his chances.
I don't think nationality determines who wins, I lean towards skill, experience, momentum and focus.

Wow, dialogue on the golf thread. I like it. We shall see very soon.I am starting to get excited it's always fun watching the British I hope it's forty degrees and blows about 25 mph with no rain keeping the ground nice and hard the true scrappers will shine, hit and runs, putting from 30 yards off the green it is a much different kind of game over there for sure. The best to meet the test will win regardless of  the flag. BOL to all
