Will/should Nadal futures bets be refunded?

I put a few units on him to win figuring I could hedge if he made the final. Now I am pondering whether I will get a reund for this event same as I would if he pulled out from retirement in the middle of a game and I had him on the moneyline.

Anyone else got a futures bet on him? Did you get refunded?

It depends on the individual book. If it said, "all bets action" or "all in" then as the soup nazi would say, "NO REFUND FOR YOU." If it said, "must start or must play first round" then you do get your money back. Most of my options would provide a refund, but you have to check your own book.

Most books will fund as they generally have the "must start" rule for any futures. However as esplanade has posted it's best to check with your book directly as there are some out there which may unfortunately not refund

I am on Bookmaker and mine said "all in"... Uh oh.

It has to be refunded   That would be the biggest rip-off ever; I understand if he started the tourney and retired then fine, but to pull out and not start - that is a no brainer for me and should be for the books too!  I would love to see Fed win again!!

Bookmaker is shady in their business ethics... I wouldn't expect to see a refund if I was you. I hope they give you one but would highly doubt it. Keep us informed

How is it shady? You have to be alert. I lost several futures bets on the Derby when my horses didn't run, actually two of the favorites.

Any book who needs to do all-ins to make money is shady in my book. I know it is listed as all-in... but does that make it right or ethical?

I wonder how many futures bets they pocketed with not even a point played? Yes people need to read the books rules before they wager...but anytime a book has a rule such as this its shady business in my book.

I don't do futures but if I did it wouldn't be at an all-in book

this was taken from sportsbet, australian bookmaker.

In an unprecendented move Sportsbet has decided to pay out early on

win single bets placed on Federer prior to 2pm Sunday. We think Roger is

a dead cert so have given punters their money early.

After Nadal withdrew due to injury, Sportsbet have declared All

single wagers on Nadal will be refunded even though it was all in

Betting". Matt Tripp, CEO Sportsbet, believes in giving punters a fair

go."

are they serious?

Since you're speaking in generalities, it is very likely that they are giving better prices because of the 'all in.' Also, it is not as though Nadal was in a car accident or twisted an ankle surfing last week, everyone knew he had a bad knee.

And virtually every book was 'all in' on the Derby, so according to you, almost every book is shady. Hey you're right.

Bookmaker gives good prices on tennis?   Obivously you don't place wagers with them. They are not in the same solar system as Pinnacle.

Even if Nadal was in a car accident it wouldn't have mattered...would it? Rules are rules...right?

And yes... if every book was taking futures on the derby as all-in I would consider it shady. Just because 99% do something one way doesn't mean its right... or the world would still be flat wouldn't it?

I do have an account with bookmaker and yes, their futures are better than many other books, and I feel like I am repeating myself here but that might be attributed to the 'all in.' Most of the users of this site are from the US and lack access to Pinnacle so their odds really aren't relevant.

So for the third time, if Bookmaker did not have all in their odds would be lower than they are now. By the way, I have ten books and Bookmaker offers futures that are decent.

Be responsible for your own gambling outcomes, know the rules and be alert. Very clearly it said ALL IN that means NO REFUNDS.
What you apparently fail to realize is that when Nadal went out, the odds for everyone else got better, so you expect the book to assume all the risk by refunding Nadal bettors but allowing everyone else to keep the improved odds or would you expect them to cancel your Murray and Federer prices because of the injury?

(I suggest you read that last part several times. You are lacking some understanding of how odds work.)

Which books are they better than? There are hundreds of books out there so saying Bookmaker is better than most is a pointless remark. I always compare things to the best...and Pinnacle is the best. You'd get much better odds at matchbook as well.

Sure the lines adjust after an injury...but do you think no more money has come in since then? They will move the lines accordingly to attempt to limit loss. But what your forgetting is future bets are taken often times way in advance. They have been making money off these wagers since they were placed. Also players such as Fed and Nadal are very popular choices. They probably made a killing getting to keep all of the Nadal money.

From a business angle it means more profits...I just think its a shady way to make a profit. If you want to disagree thats fine. But don't give me the b.s. that just because a rule is made it means its right or ethical. Once a toruney starts an all-in rule makes sense...but before it doesn't unless its all about the profit and not about the customers. Bookmaker could learn alot from Pinny...so could hundreds of others.

Burning how did you go with this? Any luck with getting a refund?

As I said, Sparty, I mix and match from many different books including
bookmaker
bodog
betonline
betus
5dimes
wsex
sportsint
players
oddsmaker
matchbook

Their divisional baseball futures are often better than what you can find elsewhere. Bottom line. I used to have an account @ Pinny. The prices are great, the customer service stinks. Like most people on this board, they closed out my account.
