He will be in the top 8 at the end of the year. He still needs to play into match fitness, but tonight he won with ease. The score 6-4 7-5 wasn't a blowout but he looked like he could turn it on when ever he wanted. At 4-4 in the first he held service and then broke JB for the set.

In the 2nd set he was down a break serving 3-5 0-40 and saved 3 set points and then broke JB, held serve to go up 6-5 and broke him again for the 7-5 set.

I really don't care for the French players but watch out for him.

not sure he will be in top 8 but he def has something to prove and should have a decent year..wanna see how he does in the aussie open before i jump on the gassie bandwagon

He does have Top 10 material but he gets really inconsistent when he play other Top 20 players. He does have a good serve. Just needs better defense and limit UE's when playing tougher opponents.

He's the Samantha Stosur of the WTA. Lots of potential, lots of power but lacks consistency.

I've been fading Benneteau all along and on the day i couldn't fade him because Gasquet was a 2:1 fave and i thought the price was too steep to keep chasing. Gasquet did squeak out the -3.5 win against the spread though.

wait till we see him against top competiton at the Open. could go against Novak in the rd of 16? definately a good player though.

I respectfully disagree. Anyone who had followed ol Richard closely enough knows he doesn't have the guts to make it into the top 8. No chance. Not with guys like Cilic lurking as well as some other young guns. Gasquet has top 5 strokes but he is a mess mentally. When Gasquet is an underdog you bet him, when he lays more than 150 you stay away until he proves otherwise, which he wont imo.
