Just when you thought it was safe to take Milwaukee...

This Milwaukee @ Washington game jumped out at me while I was glancing at the lines for the games tonight.  I can't help but be intrigued in this matchup simpily due to how well the Bucks have been playing lately.

In case you are unaware, Milwaukee has vaulted has themselves from 9th in the East all the way 6th.  Not that difficult considering the teams ranked 5-9 aren't very good to begin with.  In any case, it's been a pretty damn good run.  This team has won 8 of their last 10 games, and even more impressive is the fact they've covered the spread in 8 straight games.  And how about this.  Since January 18th the Milwaukee Bucks are 19-3 ATS.  That's absolutley remarkable if you ask me.  How often do you find that level of consistancy with mediocre team like this?!

Unfortunatley for most gamblers out there, the Milwaukee Bucks aren't a team that gets much attention.  That means not many gamblers have been to cash in despite the fact that they've been hot since the end of January.  Only now are people starting to take notice and that's mostly due to the fact that the Bucks are in the playoff picture.

So what's my point in all this you ask?

As I stated earlier, you have the Bucks playing the Wizards on the second game of a back to back.  It was only Wednesday that these two teams last met up.  Milwaukee went into that game as a monsterous -10 favorite.  The finals result saw them come away with 13 point victory as they smashed the Wizards 100-87 on home court.  Tonight those very same Bucks travel to Washington as -4.5 favorites.  Now when you consider how the last game played out, and when you consider how well Milwaukee has been playing lately... Taking the Bucks in this spot looks like steal.

This is the perfect oppertunity for the books to pull a fast one on bettors if you ask me.  I'm sure many gamblers out there are getting tired of missing those golden oppertunites that are being presented everytime the Bucks play.  They've been inconsistant but finally appear to be rolling in the right direction.  Tonight's game looks like a glorious chance to ride the Bucks to fistfulls of cash.  Enough missing out!  It's time to ride this train to riches!

If only it were that easy.

Washington +4.5 - ML

Great write-up..I've been quite reluctant to pull the trigger on the Bucks during this hot run they have been on but I can't back the terrible Wiz either..

Certain teams should be black-balled simply because of how bad they are... Wiz, Nets.. just two teams that fit the mold.

Take the Bucks here or else it's a no-play.   Don't try to over think these lines...

they have been in shambles since howard went down. no one to provide offense, no interest in defense and the most important thing, wash has NO MOTIVATION which i consider crucial this time of year.

Not convinced at the home-and-home angle here.  The bucks are raptors played a home and home earlier this year.  The bucks beat the raps at home then played in toronto 2 days later.  I was fully expecting the raps to blow them out at home, but they struggled mightily in that game and were fortunate to come out with a win (they didn't cover the spread however).

Nah, I think i'll continue.

Though I can't argue the fact that I do in fact suck at reading lines and usually never win.

Thanks for stopping bye!  Tell your friends!

CC - Why is -4.5 a steal? It converts to approx -12.5 at home, which is higher than the -10.0 MIL covered at home. In my opinion, this would probably mean the books are giving MIL respect, and not giving WAS respect.

I lean WAS for the other reason you mentioned, but the line doesn't entice me or give support for WAS - if anything it's the normal or opposite of what you want to see in a spread. If the spread was LOWER than -10.0, that would be hinting WAS.

Thoughts?

How prescient has this turned out to be tonight?

kash2009, you and your Covers nick are out of date.  It's people like you who make Covers such a nasty place for some people.  If you can't contribute, don't bash.  Go screw your barnyard donkey or something.

...maybe it was that easy after all

Despite the impending disaster, please keep posting. You've got a very unique style and are an enjoyable read, win or lose.

WAS covered 6 straight games around the trade deadline period and surprised everyone because they did not implode as predicted. Since then they have been the cinderella team to the "sharp" bettors, and have reverted to a collection of individuals. They turn the ball over; can't score; give up early leads. The oddsmakers are simply not giving them enough points.

WAS has burned me for the last time. This team is fade material, losing 4 of its last five ATS with one win against New Jersey.

I'm making a list (and checking it twice) of Fade vs Favorite teams for the last month of the season. Got to identify the teams that are just slogging along and will probably get worse. Right now I 'd say New Jersey, the Pistons, and Washington are on it.

Just off the top of my head, most of the playoff - bound teams would make the "fav" list except Chicago and Miami (and Charlotte on the road).

I'll be coming back to this topic again. In the meantime, bet with good teams getting line value.
