After the NBA season concludes after the finals, a long stretch of inactivity occurs within a normal sports handicapper. Why is that? Well there is only one mainstream handicapping sport left to bet on. Betting on baseball is one of the most difficult sports to make money on as well as it can be the cause of 90% of all grinders sports related heartattacks. To much of the game betting line relys on one person and if Johan Santana decides to turn into John Rocker then your typically S.O.L and so is the heavy juiced money you invested in one team. It works the same as well if Jonathan Sanchez of the Giants becomes Nolan Ryan and pitches a no hitter. Believe me there is money to be made but it honestly becomes a chore and since there is so many games many times handicappers fire away at too many games. The control is tough as well as the betting lines.
I grew up watching boxing in the 1980's and 90's on every saturday night at my grandparents house. My grandfather (r.i.p) was in love with the sport and for me it was a way we bonded and i enjoyed being one of the guys with him. My favorite memory was when me, him and my dad were watch Meldrick Taylor pick apart Chavez like a surgeon only to be shocked when Taylor wasnt smart enough to run for the last round and got dropped with seconds away from winning the fight on the scorecards easily. There is nothing more i rather do in life then a championship fight.
As my obsession with gambling kicked in at the age of 18, I was always trying to find out a way to make some easy money as you can call it and i was betting on the NFL to the Olympics. Then i noticed i was decent in all sports and was okay enough to make money doing so but I was very impressive in one sport...Boxing. Last year i joined covers and ran a running total of all my sport and posted every play i made. Turned out I was able to prove my skills on paper.
See boxing is different the any other sport out there. Boxing is not a team sport, which makes handicapping a fight a bit less complex. So many times the value out there is ridulous. In boxing many times a +500 dog has a better chance of winning then the -700 favorite. Because many fight are not televised live in the USA then little is known on some of these guys so the lines are based off of glossy records.
I dont have to hit 60% in boxing to win for the year, and i dont even have to hit 50% either. Why is that? Because i bet on dogs close to 80% of the time where is feel a favorite is getting way too much credit or when a dog is being overlooked. Because we are in the age of the internet it is easily availble to watch fights overseas unlike years past so one can look past records and acclamades. Anyone can pick a heavly favored Pacquiao or a Floyd Mayweather to win but only a few can pick a +800 Victor Emilo Ramirez or a +1000 Cornelious Bundrage to shock the boxing world.
So since Boxing gets very little play here on covers.com I am offically going to force the covers world into betting on boxing and helping others make money at the same time as rejuvination the intrest of the sport. Consider my newly created blog as the ambassator of boxing at covers.com. Hello to you all and may the cash roll in.
