Now can we all say that USC is overrated...over the past 3 yrs or so they have been beaten by some crappy team. Why is FL, UT and OU ranked #1,2 and 3?(preseason ranking) Because they have the best QB in the game. USC have 2 shitty QBs and one is a freshman and they are still ranked in the top 5(well not anymore) Nobody takes into account about their freshman QB they just want to put USC in the top 5. I Swear USC is still gonna be in the top 10 after todays lost bc they get so much love from everyone....The PAC-10 this year looks pathetic except for CAL so far.

Overated NO WAY they always lose a game they have no business of losing. They always seem to win the big ones though. Except against Tex that one year.

USC has 4 starters who didn't play the Washington game:

QB   Barkley

S     T. Mays

WR  R. Johnson

DE  A. Armstead

They would have won if they were healthy.  Still, they are overrated.  The O-line was suppose to be great, but I don't think they could push a baby buggy across the street.  The new OC calls a poor game and some of the penalties are just dumb.  What they need is a 5 loss season to reduce the size of their heads.  Maybe next year they can get it together.  Much easier SOS too.

One dimensional on offense - good o line and running game but obviously very young at QB.  I can see them losing again before they pull it together.

overrated this year Yes

good to see them down to 12. and after they lose 2 more in conference this year, theyll be out of the top25

Only one on this list that even matters is OU.
the big11 dont count
No win over TX, never play Fla , LSU, UGA.

Locker was the key.

If Pryor was anywhere near as polished as Locker then you could have started this thread after last weekend.

Not as over rated as the entire SEC!

The SEC is overrated? How so? They have won 4 out of the past 6 national championships. Ole Miss might be ranked a little high but Florida and Alabama can justify their ranks.

Last year isn't this year.

Are you kidding? They WAXED Oklahoma, and went to Auburn with one of Tubbervilles best teams and shut them out at their place. They also beat a very good Virginia Tech team in their house. USC at least schedules tough out of conference games unlike UF, UGA, or LSU.

Who does Florida play, Citadel?? Please you have a VERY weak argument. And dont forget when USC waxed Oklahoma they went wire to wire to win the national championship.  Oh yeh and they have three heisman winners in that time span as well.

theyre OVERRATED and out of the top10

Deal with it

TimTowner says:

Put them in the SEC and they are a.500 team
1969USC says:

They would beat Florida and LSU and Georgia and Auburn and lose to the rest.

Rebuilding this year sure, but hands down one of the best programs of the last 7-8 years.....deal with it.

gimme a fuckin' break!  people down south need to have their heads checked... at least have some objectivity...

USC is right with Florida and Alabama when they are on their game... if you think otherwise you're smoking too much rock...

and baja is right about the Oklahoma, Auburn and VT games... i thought it was funny how an SEC guy discounted the blowout win against Auburn during the stretch when Auburn was one of the top 3 programs in football...

neither USC nor the Pac-10 are overrated... no more overrated than the Big 12 or SEC... SEC is the best conference in football, by about 3 inches...

This years team was definitely way too overrated. Too many holes coming into the season. I think the coaching staff was hoping to luck out and win games just on their superior talent and reputation.

Pete Carroll and Jeremy Bates need to take a long look in the mirror and point the fingers at themselves. Pete doesnt believe in adjustments anymore. I know someone who was with the team at the half, and they walked around with no worries in the world. Thats the problem with them program now. The expectations to win are so high, there's never a sense of urgency when things get tough. They deserved to lose this game. Its funny, with the exception of the Oregon State loss, they literally deserved to lose every game. And when I say deserve, I mean its their fault because they played like morons. Oregon State played their tails off and actually beat USC from the get go. USC beat themselves in the other games.

Its unacceptable. Pete's ways are biting them in the ass. I'm getting a little tired of the casual ways they approach each game. They all act like they've done something in their careers.

Just because USC loses one game they are overrated? Not even close. USC has lost a game in the past, like last year to Oregon State & were they overrated? NO! So, why do people think that they are overrated this year? USC PROBABLY will not lose another game this year & have a good shot at playing for the National Championship or playing in the Rose Bowl.

People, one game doesn't mean a DARN THING!!! Also, remember, for the last 8 years or so, USC has lost games & has finished in the top 4 FINAL rankings for the past 7 straight years or so!!!

the pac-10 actually plays good teams moron. look at who all the "GREAT" sec teams are playing. so far florida has beaten charleston southern, troy, and should have lost to tennessee, who lets not forget pathetically lost to UCLA at home. georgia, who started the season at #12 or so, is struggling with every team they play. LSU will not be a contender anywhere because their qb can't throw a 7 yard pass down the field to save his life. ole miss has played next to nothing teams, and so far alabama is the only one with a decent win.

the pac-10 has played tough teams week in and week out. AND has a winning record against the sec, so stop looking at the rankings and actually start watching football

Is that how you cap games? Team A beats Team B, who beat Team C, therefore, Team A definitely beats Team C?

I am not sure USC is even overrated for this entire season. This team is young and lost an incredible amount of talent to the NFL Draft. Watch this team continue to improve as the year progresses.....
westcoastTrojan says:
09/21/09 06:54PM

Exactly. Their past success did them in coming into this season. I expected nothing from them this season. A BCS game would have been gravy. Knowledgeable USC fans are looking to next year.

But I did want to see a victory against OSU and Cal. Thats all I really cared about coming into this season.

USC Overrated? Good question.

By the bookies - Maybe sometimes. But they need to do it.
By the coaches and players they face? No way in hell.

Only 2 or fewer loses in 6 seasons is incredible and has only been duplicated by 3 schools in the past 30 years.

Losing to Washington was a bad loss for them but I still would not call them over-rated. They still beat Ohio St on the road with a rookie freshman QB. Not an easy road game.

USC has earned their reputation with wins and is one of the best Money Line Bets in Football. They simply win games.

The lines are at times over-inflated as Ice pointed out
but when you have a team that can cover 34 points in a half
its understandable that bookies play it safe with the lines.

the minute you don't respect SC is the moment they roll on you.

USC's record under Pete Carroll speaks for itself.

76-14 (.844) and that includes his 1st year when he lost 6x
39-3 (.929) at home since Pete Carroll has arrived.

This year they are just short at one position which is QB of course.
But they are still loaded again and they keep their team loaded with Talent even after they keep losing stars to the NFL each April.

Under-Rated, NO
Over Hyped - Yes But they have earned it.
westcoastTrojan says:
09/21/09 07:32PM
overhyped indeed. Thats the one thing I hate about rooting for the Trojans. And the fans are dipshits too (most of them at least).
jackdfan says:

I just think it was a "perfect storm" to lose to Washington. Former offensive coord and defensive co? I can't say I was suprised when this happened.
westcoastTrojan says:
09/21/09 08:17PM

agree here. But this time, the dont recover and win out like they have in the past, unless the coaches decide to allow the players to play. I see at least one more loss this season.

THEMUGG says:
09/21/09 08:58PM

That's pretty much what happened............key injuries, TO's, untimely penalties.........& the Huskies weathered the early storm. The UW got them at the right time & they played well enough to take advantage of it.

USC was ranked a little high last week, but there aren't that many good teams in college football this year, there just aren't!

are you really going to tell me a healthy USC team on a neutral field couldn't beat teams like Ole Miss or Boise St?  come on now

other than Florida for the last couple of season USC has been the best program over the last decade, they put half of their squad into the NFL bro, they hammer out of conference teams at their place, they beat Auburn by 23 and beat Arkansas by 33 at their own vaunted SEC venues, they are USC, not some overrated redneck program from the south

to say they would be .500 in the SEC is laughable, they would have won the conference about 6 of the last 8 years in a walk, some of you people are just unreal

to hate USC is your choice, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but to say their program couldn't compete in the SEC is pure stupidity

sure they will lose a couple of games this season, find me another college team that puts half of their team in the NFL in one season and wouldn't lose a few games the next year?

despite losing to Washington, they will still make a BCS bowl game and throttle whoever they play in the big game, happens every year and it will happen again this year once their players have some experience

they aren't as good as Florida, Bama or Texas this year and probably not Cal at this point, but they would beat every other team and probably most of those I mentioned by season's end in a bowl game (not Florida of course), but they would have beat Florida last year, that defense would have owned Tebow's ass last season, no doubt in my mind
