Small Conferences

Years ago at a casino, a sharp told me to cap and bet small conferences only and I can make money in college football.  Of course, I haven't been patient enough to stick to this philosophy, but I know he has a point.  Just wanted to ask all the guys out there if you know anything special about any small conference games, please contribute.  These type games may not have been studied as hard by the oddsmakers and there may be some value there.  Not saying there can't be value in major conferences, but you can't ignore the advice of a sharp.

sun belt is one I enjoy keeping an eye on,,,MAC has proved profitable for me as well , that theory has probably changed just a bit over the years as very few (if any) games go unnoticed by the so called sharps,,if there is value you better believe that todays cappers will be all over the number - with that being said I'm really looking forward to Troy at MTSU on oct5th as I will be enjoying a week in vegas and focusing on that key sun belt matchup in a big way - troy has ruled the roost in the sun belt but this maybe the year the blue raiders can take that title away---time will tell -GL this year

For a few years I was betting a lot of ML dogs in the Sun Belt and doing well, but it recent years the number of dogs winning SU in the Sun Belt has dwindled.  The teams expected to win have.

As for the MAC I really blame those mid week games for some of the shady lines and outcomes.  Those games get a lot of attention and action.  Just about every year a MAC team is investigated for some sort of gambling scandel.

I avoid the small conferences for the most part. The wide spread lack of defense makes it hard for me to handicap these games. I certainly lose some good spots because of it, but find plenty of value on the bigger conferences.

I frankly just don't trust results in the MAC and Sun Belt, and have largely left them alone in recent years. Some books offer lines on 1-AA games.  Though the juice is often higher, and the limits lower, there are usually 2-3 games a week where they should really just cash your ticket as soon as you make the wager.  I think it's Albees that has a thread about these eery week, and it's rare that he's not hitting about 65%-70% of those games.

Sun Belt isnt the same as before, but that is a small conf that I always look at, Troy especially.

Most now look at the WAC, but I became a bettor there since I lived there for 1yr. Now its not a big  deal if the Bows beat Bama as it was when I saw it in person.?

With the bigger schools there is more exposure and more people willing to bet money on those schools they've heard of.  With more money pouring in on these bigger conferences it only makes sense oddsmakers spend more time on these games making them as sharp as possible.

conference USA is really hard, because everyone but tulane can be competitive...lotta value in wac and Mount. W. games tho IMO.
