What does Kobes Injury Really Mean?

You ever broken a bone? Hurts don't it.  You play basketball? How important is the index finger on your shooting hand. Kobe has a broken bone on the extensor side of this finger meaning any bending of the finger will bring pain. Meanwhile, he played with it yesterday meaning he aggravated the injury and today it is probably the size of a grape. Hmmmm.

Can he play effectively with this injury?  Maybe. Two things though, one is the injury if left untreated can lead to a condition called mallet finger, which would involve a permanent deformity to the finger. I am not sure if Kobe has enough of an injury to cause this but it is possible and it would put him on the shelf for 6-10 weeks.  They may reevaluate him today and place him in a splint and on the IR. It is possible.  Trust me , it is possible. Two, even if he does play, this is not the pinky on the non-dominant hand, it is the most important finger on the shooting hand and should cause him some trouble. Can he shoot L handed? Sure, he is the greatest alive (save one) but will it compromise his play? To me it will. Who the hell wants to shoot with their off hand all day. Furthermore, if he is shooting L handed maybe the NBA players will take away his left and make him go right. No guarantee there, it is the NBA.

Taking the Jazz, Lakers have to go on the road and they may be with a Kobe that is less than 100% or possibly without Kobe.   They have not been good on the road this year. Figure the game is handicapped like Kobe is healthy and maybe I get a little edge.

3 units on a 1-10 scale for me.

Went through the last game and figured out his second half stats vs the first half stats. That would be withot  the splint and with  it. They were about the same. In the noise as we would say.

Take it for what it is worth.

Wow- just getting interested in this. here is the Lakers highlights from last night.

Most (not all) of Kobes points and passes came with the left hand after the injury.

Two things...

1) makes me like the bet

2) dude has a freaking good left hand!

Means Vanessa Laine Bryant will have one less part of Kobe to enjoy in the bedroom—is all it means.  Employee # 24 will still be Employee # 24 on the court

Borat---

to say that is ridiculous. I played bball and football. I broke my finger and had to have it in a splint. It is painful, and the mental part is the hardest thing to get over. It is impossible to not think about it constantly. When ever the whistle blows, at the free throw line after a hand check (which Kobe is famous for)

Remember- the Jazz were up 52-48 at halftime in the Staples center the other night. Then they went freezing cold and put up horrible 2nd half #s. Utah is a dangerous place to play, and the Jazz are looking to pounce on a wounded leader and hot team. The Lakers I believe have only played 4 rd games and this game has Utah written all over it. I got lucky and have Utah +4 (my local uses the Detroit News spreads)(I also have Mil at a pk and love that too)

GL everyone and nice write up

utah plus 4-wow!

he will not be in business long.
I would watch the video, it is worth the three minutes or so it takes. The first half is no splint. If you crank the sound you can tell when he breaks the finger because the announcers start talking about it. He throws an unreal lefty alley-oop and makes a lefty hook and awkward lay-up.

I played college sports and totally sucked. Yet, I was ( and am) a compettive fu&k. If  I was guarding him, you bet  I would slap at that ball once or twice. Man, will that hurts if you get a little finger with that slap. That seems like only a matter or time.

Make up your own mind but no way he is throwing lefty lobs if the finger was ok. Again, as  I said before, the dude is freaking good with his left hand. It is kind of scary really.

If I was getting 4 I think I would go large with this thing.

Obviously not 100%

This will be a trend for about a week. Dude went 7 for 24,  He is good but not that good. No one is. And I quote.......

Utah took advantage as Kobe Bryant struggled with a fractured index finger from a game the night before. The Jazz held Bryant to 16 points on 7 of 24 shooting. Bryant didn't score in the second half until less than five minutes remained in the game and Utah already up by 15.

sometimes it all works out......

That finger will still be sore and swollen all week. Do not be surprised to see him sit a game or two. I would get on these lines early. At this point , he is probably hurting his team.

Kobe is one hella lazy guy. He just went 20-5-5-1-1 (pts-reb-ast-blk-stl) the other day with the very same injury. He's just one hella lazy guy. He'd ball and win if he seriously wanted to.
