Hey guys, this will be my first ever thread on trying to bet on Tennis so please do go easy on me and if there's anything, do tip me out. I usually make my dues from Soccer and NBA but totally suck in WNBA and bases. Hopefully I get some luck here and smash a couple of winnings in. To start here's what I got for Wimbledon, starting with Round 4 Matches for Women.
Vera Zvonareva vs Jelena Jankovic
Pick: Vera Zvonareva (+110)
I like Vera Zvonareva's chances here with the Serbian Jankovic bothered with the knee from the match against Bondarenko. She also appear to be in great also having won against Jankovic in the past. I see good value here in Zvonareva getting +110 money in my book. Znoareva in three here.
Na Li vs Agnieszka Radwanska
Pick: Agnieszka Radwanska (+110)
Again, good value on the two-time Wimbledon quarterfinalist in Radwanska. She also won both grass-court matches and so I'm feeling pretty good in her chance even against a healthy Li. Hopefully, she plays inconsistently in the grass as she did well in the clay-court, and Radwanska catches her in her bad side. I see Agnieszka Radwanska in three.
Kim Clijsters vs Justine Henin
Pick: Kim Clijsters (+100)
In their recent head-to-head this year, Clijster won both in Brisbane and Miami and I usually would lean on trends as to see how a certain player matchup against another. Henin will have to be aggressive to reverse the trend on her. Despite Henin's good showing in the f... [More]

So we just witnessed about every team get over the first game jitters, familiarize themselves with the ball and get used to the vuvuzelas. The Round of 16 looks very promising and we'll be looking ahead to earning a lot more from this game. Anyway, I'll be using only one thread now to keep everything in one place. Again, I mostly play Asian Handicap and Game Totals. To kick this thread off, let's start with the first two games.
Uruguay vs South Korea
14:00 GMT, June 26, 2010
Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Port Elizabeth, South Africa
Uruguay started the Cup on an impressive pace en route to the knock-out stage. The Taegeuk Warriors, making their first appearance in the knock-out stage on foreign soil, will be looking to continue their good form and steady play. Having no real power house team in the next round, both teams will have so much motivation having their work cut out for them with until they meet with big-named teams in the semi-finals (either Brazil or Netherlands).
The South Americans will be looking to continue their excellent form (and record) in the tourney as they try to exploit lapses in their opponent's defense while staying true to their style. Uruguay's slick passing and clinical finishing have everyone looking out for their attacks. They showed everyone that they are capable of adapting mostly any tactics and making it work in their favor (look up the results in their group matches).
The results for the Asian side is all o... [More]

Italy and that's probably it for Day 14. Here's for Day 15: Let's keep it banging fellas. I'm a bit tired so doing quick write ups for all games. I'd be happy to hear from you guys with what you think on games as well so do try to drop a comment or two on them games.
North Korea vs Ivory Coast
Ivory Coast needs a 9-point turn around to slip to the next round and it is a hell of a long shot. Expect a high scoring game here with Ivory Coast looking to drop a lot of goals to keep their top 16 hopes aflame. North Korea, however, will be playing for pride and I'd bet they'd die for it to reclaim it. North Korea's demolition was widely aired in their country and they wouldn't want another humiliation to take place right after. With that said, look for North Korea to try for a win here looking to risk a bit of their defense to score goals. Ivory Coast looks terrible their last 2 games but that's against Portugal and Brazil. Look for Ivory Coast to blow this game out with their talent. The earlier they score the more will come their way.
Score: North Korea 1 Ivory Coast 3
Handicap: Ivory Coast -1.5
Line: OVER 2.5
Portugal vs Brazil
I was watching the Neds play last night and thought I'd see the same thing going to this game. This game will be a battle for the top spot and an attempt to avoid Spain in the next round (given Switzerland won't do anything surprising). Don't expect this game to be played looking ... [More]

Went 5-2-1 yesterday and I must say I the USA game was very fun to watch.
Paraguay vs New Zealand
One thing I learned from the games this morning is that any team can shock anyone. Paraguay will be the favorite going to this game with New Zealand raring to go all out to qualify for the next round. This group will be as interesting since a win here for NZ and a win by Italy will kick Paraguay out of the mix.
Look for Paraguay to continue the same brand of offensive football and hope to run away with as much goal as the can. Expect Paraguay to play with so much creativity as they caused a lot of trouble against Slovakia and at the same time maintaining a good defensive line.
New Zealand is playing with high confidence getting a late equalizer against Slovakia and pulling a draw against the defending champions. Look for Ryan Nelsen and Tommy Smith to impose their presence in the defensive line while Smeltz and Fallon to create scoring opportunities.
Expect a 4-3-3 formation from both squads with teams going all out to put the other team aside. Paraguay will have a great edge in the Forward position with Santa Cruz, Valdez and Barrios. Midfield will be slighlty even but I'm giving a little edge to Paraguay with Christian Riveros playing well in their last 2 games. Defense goes to New Zealand but Paraguayans aren't that far behind. Paraguay will win the possession battle here and with Slovakia and Italy being the better defensive team than N... [More]

World Cup Day 13
Slovenia vs England
England has to win this game if they want to proceed to the next one. A draw plus USA losing to Algeria is quite a long shot but who am I to talk about upsets?
England was an easy pick going to the next round and who would have thought we'll see Slovenia right on top and will just need to draw to secure a spot to the next round.
England was horrible in their campaign. They have been playing with terrible form throughout the tournament and yet to play as a cohesive squad. I haven't seen them play the passing game well and their big named stars are yet to showcase what they are truly capable of. Fabio Capello has been terrible directing this squad and not being able to fully utilize them. An example would be playing Gerrard on the left wing, as a result, I have yet to see him influence a game. Lennon and Lampard are non existent too.
Expect the Three Lions to pit the same line up and formation going to this game. And yes, that's the very same squad that lowly Algeria managed to Draw. Expect this game to be faster though as they'll try to pry out a tough Slovenian Defense all game long. I believe England wins the possession battle here but their lack of creativity and the knack to open up chances aren't there.
On the other hand, Manager Matjaz Kek should be very proud of this squad. They've been sticking to their game plan by heart and has not drifted when facing any pressure. Look for him to design a... [More]

Day 11 was a lot of fun. Portugal vs North Korea was very entertaining and it's very refreshing to finally see outside favorite Portugal to come around. Anyway, here for Day 12:
France vs South Africa
Both teams will be looking to this game to reclaim any form of redemption that they can still get. France hardly find its rhythm in the tourney and any one can see that
they lack the desire to put up a real good fight. Too many things are
happening in the Les Bleus camp
and a good portion of it is stolen by the Anelka drama. France form is
pretty bad going L D D W L only getting that lone W against a Costa Rica
team and it isn't even convincing (2-1).
South Africa on the other hand started out hot with its most recent form looking L D W W W. They may have less talent and star quality than their counterpart but they have the home crowd to back them up and a unified squad that is promising despite an embarrassing 3-0 outing against Uruguay. Both teams' fate is pretty much decided and only a miracle would shake this group.
France obviously can boast of great talents in their squad but the team struggles under Raymond Domenech which cost them a most likely early exit. With conflicts surrounding the French camp, South Africa should take advantage of this and put up a show for the home crowd. I wouldn't be surprised if France won't even manage to put up a goal in this game as they've been really awful the last 2 showings. Hopefully, Anelka's ... [More]

Pesky internet explorer crashing on me and my writeup. Anyway, here's for Day 11, in a more compressed version:
Portugal vs North Korea
Portugal needs this win more than anything else if they want to keep themselves in contention for the round. A loss however would pit them to play for their dear life against heavily favored Brazil. North Korea on the other hand will be again looking for an upset here after a great showing in their opening match. Portugal's form against North Korea's strong showing pits them as almost equal in my book. I see this game ending in a draw at most with Korea's strong wall keeping the Portuguese attack at bay. Portugal will most likely win the ball possession battle here getting 60+% over Korea and will most likely get twice as much attempts at the goal in their last match (only getting in 7 shots and 1 on goal against Ivory Coast).
Score: Portugal 1 North Korea 1
Handicap: North Korea +1.5
Line: UNDER 2.5
Chile vs Switzerland
A very interesting game here with the winner most likely to move to the next round. Chile however will have a lot more at stake here than their opponent. They have Spain next and so a win here would make the next game less of a burden to them. Good thing they'll be having Humberto Suazo, best scorer in world cup qualifying, back in the mix. Switzerland will have it easy having lowly Honduras next so a draw is a more favorable result here for them. Ex... [More]

Just had a push for Day 8. Pretty interesting day 8 that we have. Let's keep it pushing. Here's for World Cup day 9.
Netherlands VS Japan
Both squads opened the contest with excellent wins and they are looking to see which squad to head up first. Don't be fooled with this game. The Oranje gets away with a full 3 point in the Group and lock themselves a ticket to the next stage. Japan's positives are highlighted by poor performance of Cameroon. Don't get me wrong here. Japan can shock us here as long as they stay composed, organized and patient. Netherlands are a very creative bunch and the difference in control and playing style should be revealed in the game. I see the Japanese playing organized football and carefully taking their chances on the offense. They will most likely settle for a draw at worst here and look for an upset here and there. Count out Japan's aerial offense and crosses in this game as the Oranje are adept in fending those kinds of attacks. Japan will most likely pull an Algeria here.
Score: Netherlands 1 Japan 0
Handicap: Japan +1.5
Line: UNDER 2.5
Ghana VS Australia
Socceroos will look for a draw at best. This team doesn't have any potent offense or can pose any real threat any where in the field. Ghana is flying high with confidence getting a solitary goal in against Serbia. I don't think Ghana will allow a draw in this game. They'll search for another squeaker in before forcing a German team ... [More]

Quite on a hurry to do these. I'd love to hear from you guys with what you think and would appreciate if you post your own predicted score here in my thread.
Argentina VS South Korea
Yes, I seriously believe South Korea plays solid defense against Argentina. Maradona's side is fancied to come out top of this group but the Koreans will be looking for upset themselves. IMO, they'd use North Korea's good showing as a good motivation to top it and keep this offensive juggernaut at bay (I hope I don't offend anyone with this statement). Again, a draw would be the best way to go for South Korea and would want to keep that goal difference just in case it gets tight down the wire for the group. Expect careful offense and more emphasis on defense from Coach Huh Jung-Moo's squad not looking to risk a lot even if they find themselves down by a goal. Argentina will be themselves as always but I don't see them as a fully functional train yet. 2 goals would be too much in this contest and so I'm banking on an Under here.
Score: Argentina 1 South
Line: UNDER 2.5
Greece VS Nigeria
A must win for both sides that I feel strongly will just end up in a disappointing draw. Greece won't revert to an offensive style and stick to playing a very much defensive role. Don't get fooled by the 2-0 defeat they suffered against South Korea. Otto Rehhagel will make his men play resolute defense and o... [More]

Pretty confident with my World Cup capping as of late. Went 5-0-2 in Day 5 while having fun watching the games. North Korea did well and I think I'll follow them closely after a good showing against World #1. I'm also considering playing/wagering on exact scores because we've been hitting them at a good rate lately instead of the usual Asian handicap and total line. Anyway, here's for day 6:
Chile VS Honduras
Expecting Chile to comeout strong. I really like Marcelo Bielsa at the helm of Chile. He's perfect to fully utilize their attacking potential and at the same time bring out the best from his players. Chile qualified just a point behind World Cup favorite Brazil and it's a feat in itself in CONMEBOL so you can say this guys are ready for the big stage. If you have been watching the World Cup games and following it closely, you won't discount this Honduras squad just yet. I believe they'll settle for a draw at most here not really looking out to keep Chile from scoring but to create goal opportunities themselves. Honduras will most likely play 4-4-2 against the Chile's three man attack (I believe it's either a 3-1-2-1-3 or a 3-3-1-3) looking to push them back and wait for real opportunities. Liking Chile to win here by more than a goal but taking the OVER just in case they decide to double the lead up.

Handicap: Chile -1

Only profited on Netherlands in Day 5 and had a push all over. Anyway, looks like the under will be a huge cash cow in the group stages with nerves not yet settled and new and old players are still finding their wait around the loud vuvuzela. With that said, hopefully I don't jinx it and the unders keep on coming. On to the games...
New Zealand VS Slovakia
New Zealand will be on the defensive in this game and would look to draw at best. Slovakia has enough talent and quality players to score a goal or two against the All Whites. Hamsik and Sestak will be the prime attacking option of Slovenia and can create and get goals for themselves. Slovenia showed excellent form during qualifications and they have scored a lot of goals. With Paraguay and Italy tied up with one point a piece, Slovakia would want to enjoy the top of the group with 3 points. New Zealand isn't very convincing despite the success in qualification. 2 goals would be the most IMO with the way the World cup has progressed.
Score: New Zealand 0 Slovakia 2
Handicap: New Zealand +1.5
Line: UNDER 2.5
Ivory Coast VS Portugal
Portugal has been under performing and hasn't produced any quality outings in their last few matches. With so much star quality/potential in Portugal, it makes you wonder why the poor form they are showing. They failed to score goals over lowly teams like Cape Verde and Albania. With that playing Ivory Coast plus, again, under is an... [More]

Pushed on my 6 plays in Day 3. It's quite refreshing to finally see a team thrash another. LOL. Been waiting for a lot of goals for quite some time now till they came to play. Anyway, here's for day 4:
Excellent Day 2 for me. I believe most of the cappers in covers got the
correct team in day 2. Here's for day 3, still loving soccer even with
Game 5 of the NBA just around the corner:
Netherlands VS Denmark
I have this feeling that the Oranje will look to score like the Germans did against the Socceroos. You also got to love the form of the Neds with Robben and Sneijder leading the pack. van Persie's form has been great in the warm up as well scoring four goals in 3 games. I'm not saying that the Danes are shabby either. They have Morten Olsen who made them compete at a high level without relying on world-class superstars. I think this game will be exciting to watch with both squad with legit ability to score goals and play the game on a fast pace. Taking Netherlands here because they have the better chance of winning with a number of scoring options on offense. OVER has a pretty good shot with both teams looking to score goals themselves.
Score: Netherlands 2 Denmark 1
Handicap: Netherlands -1 (-105)
2.0, 2.5 (-115)

Excellent Day 2 for me. I believe most of the cappers in covers got the correct team in day 2. Here's for day 3, still loving soccer even with Game 5 of the NBA just around the corner:
Algeria VS Slovenia
This should be a good contest between teams who'd want to take full advantage of a lone point settled by the groups two favorites. Both teams run similar style of play prioritizing defense and playing careful offense. Slovenia has a really good chance to take the top position of Group C with Algeria reportedly to have squabbles, personal problem within the squad and injuries. Both teams will most likely look to score goals here and when we see the first one in you can almost guarantee they'll go back and fortify their defense even more to run away with the early lead in their group.
Score: Algeria 0 Slovenia
Handicap: Slovenia0, -0.5 (-105)
Ghana VS Serbia
Ghana suffers the most losing Essien in their squad. I don't see Apiah or Ghana wingers being able to step up and cover Essien's loss. With that I believe they'll most likely be on the defensive all throughout the game and would launch attacks on a calculated pace. Serbian defense isn't too shabby either. They have the size to keep out crosses and also be a threat on the offense. The speedy Krasic will be the man to watch here as he have the ability to put Serbia up front. A lone goal would most likely separate this two squad. Look... [More]

Totally off with the first day. Here's for my Day 2 World Cup predictions. Everything I'm playing is either Asian handicap or the total line:
South Korea VS Greece
I like the chances of The Taeguk Warriors coming into this contest. They are pitted in a group that they can perform well and would really aim at least for the 2nd spot in this group. You also gotta love this team with recovering Park Ji-sung and former Middlesbrough Lee while Greece has to come around injuries (Moras is out). Anyway, Greece isn't really known to be a force in the cup and I feel that the Koreans play with a lot of heart. I don't see this to come out very exciting and a draw is not far from being impossible. Both teams aren't really blessed with offensive specialist and so they will most likely be on the Defensive and would play careful counters. Under has a very good shot here and a 1-1 game would IMO be too much.
Predicted Score: South Korea 1 Greece 0
Asian Handicap: South Korea pk (+105)
Line: UNDER 2.0 (-120)
Argentina VS Nigeria
The only question here is whether the great Diego Maradona can make use of this team's full potential and can Lagerback make his team play with full composure for the rest of the game. Undoubtedly the talent in this Argentina team is top class and players like Messi can create opportunities for themselves. I got this feeling that Argentina wins here but only by a goal and not more than that. Nigeria has enough tools to stage an ... [More]

4 days to go before the much awaited 2010 World Cup. I'm keeping just one thread instead of constantly making one for the whole duration of the competition. I'd love to hear from you guys and would always want to hear what you think about the plays. To kick this off, here's a couple of future bets.
World Cup: Group A
Group Betting: France (+130)
Good value to score here with the Les Bleus. Uruguay has been terrible the last few years of qualifying and I don't see them posing any threat. Mexico has by far the best chance to score the second place in this group. They have the potential that they can play at par with any team in the World (even pushed Argentina last World Cup). The only surprise would be South Africa's performance now that they have the home crowd backing them up. They were serious in the ConFed cup and has shown good potentials with the right attitude. Oh and IMO France, even without Zidance, can beat all three teams.
I can't put a finger on this group but I can tell you Les Bleus come up top with South Africa and Mexico fighting a good fight for the second (or even pull one against France) with Uruguay falling in the fourth spot.
World Cup: Group B
Group Betting: Argentina (-250)
