No one will debate that Derek Jeter is one of the greatest players of all-time.

Hell, he might actually be the greatest clutch and postseason hitter in the history of the game. But I swear to God, I don’t give a damn about him getting 3,000 hits. If he played in anywhere but New York, I wouldn’t get live cut-ins to his at-bats and about 1,000 DL updates and continual front page reminders on all of the big sports sites.
I understand it’s early July and the NBA and NFL are both being locked out. There isn’t horse racing or any good boxing to talk about.
This is all we have.
But why can’t we talk more about the women’s World Cup? What about the U-19 FIBA tournament going on overseas right now? Hell, I could go for some CFL chatter at this point.
Are you passed the Jeter love fest? What else is there to talk about?

Chipper Jones sure thinks his hot-shot teammate needs to learn how to toughen up. And he let everyone know what he thinks of outfielder Jason Heyward taking his sweet time coming off the disabled list.
"I think where Jason might have erred was the comment that he made, 'I'm not coming back until it doesn't hurt anymore.' That has a tendency to rub people the wrong way," Jones told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. "And we understand where he's coming from -- he wants to be healthy when he plays, so he can go out and give himself the best opportunity to be successful. I get that.
"What Jason needs to realize is that Jason at 80 percent is a force, and Jason at 80 percent is better than a lot of people in this league. And that there are a bunch of his teammates that are out there playing with discomfort and not healthy, and still going at it."
Heyward, who finished second in NL Rookie of the Year voting, has major inflammation but no damage to his shoulder. However, he is hitting a mere .214 with just 14 RBI through 45 games. At this point in the season, he really is either a bust or a bitch.
And here you thought LeBron James was the only guy who was a wuss.
Should Heyward play at 80 percent? When should players suck it up and get back on the field?...

One pitcher to throw a game with your life on the line, who do you send to the mound?

ESPN.com floated the question of "if you had one pitcher to go to throw a must-win game, who would you currently want?"
The list was: Roy Halladay, Felix Hernandez, Josh Johnson, Tim Lincecum or someone else. Interestingly enough, the someone else category had 14 percent of the vote, while Hernandez and Johnson combined for just 12 percent. Halladay was an overwhelming favorite at 53 percent and Lincecum was a distant second at 21 percent.
But for me? CC Sabathia. Not even close. As a Brewers fan -- insert joke here -- this guy is like my Baseball Jesus. He put us on his back and refused to get off the mound with with every start a must-win.
Sure, he can sometimes be off -- so can all of those pitchers on the mound.
But forget the must-win label. In a game for my life, I'd send CC to the bump.
Who would you want to pitch for you? Do you agree with Halladay or Sabathia?
