One Pitcher -- One Game -- Who Ya Got?

One pitcher to throw a game with your life on the line, who do you send to the mound?

ESPN.com floated the question of "if you had one pitcher to go to throw a must-win game, who would you currently want?"

The list was: Roy Halladay, Felix Hernandez, Josh Johnson, Tim Lincecum or someone else. Interestingly enough, the someone else category had 14 percent of the vote, while Hernandez and Johnson combined for just 12 percent. Halladay was an overwhelming favorite at 53 percent and Lincecum was a distant second at 21 percent.

But for me? CC Sabathia. Not even close. As a Brewers fan -- insert joke here -- this guy is like my Baseball Jesus. He put us on his back and refused to get off the mound with with every start a must-win.

Sure, he can sometimes be off -- so can all of those pitchers on the mound.

But forget the must-win label. In a game for my life, I'd send CC to the bump.

Who would you want to pitch for you? Do you agree with Halladay or Sabathia?

Tough call. I like Halladay but I don't think we should dismiss Justin Verlander either.

Yeah,,,,, Im showing my age, but I'll outrun & outlift any of you young whippersnappers, its a no brainer, BOB GIBSON, any pitcher that looked liked that & threw like that I'll wager my life.

The key with Gibson was this, ever notice when Barry Bonds was playing how he would crowd the plate with more armor on his body than Ray Lewis? Well, FEW would throw @ him for fear of being beat up, hence a very comfortable hitter @ the plate with nothing to think about but hitting a homerun, Bob Gibson would have thrown a 95er @ his left EYEBALL, Gimme Gibson & a very nervous, uncomfortable batter @ the plate who cant DIG in!!!

Halladay. He'd go all out and really care that he killed you if he didn't win. I don't know if Sabathia would really give a shit.

Verlander is a great call. He has postseason experience and has thrown it as well as anyone the past few years.

Interesting how Cliff Lee was the no-brainer to this question six months ago and isn't even in this discussion today.

These current pitchers are light weights compared to Bob Gibson

If anyone doesn't know who Bob Gibson is, they do not belong in the conversation.
