PAC-10 NCF Predictions

PAC 10 Looks like it should have atleast 6+ Teams Go Bowling this year ....

Home Field could be worth alot More than usual this year ...

USC is Just reloading ... The Offense could be even better this year with the O-Line ,RB's and WR's just stocked full of talent ...
The Defense might be faster this year with smaller LB's with secondary type speed ..
Mays and Griffin might be AA

Stanford is Much Better and although they have a tough schedule , Bowl Game should be in store and several chances for ML Dog and ATS Value
Stanford was 6-3 ATS LY vs the PAC10

CAL should Have a excellent team this year ....The Key might be the QB not costing them games ..I would Like to see Brock Mansion get

Oregon and Oregon St. are both in slight rebuilding modes but both should win 8+ Games ...Both teams have some excellent skill Pos. Players ..

Arizona should have a Good Defense and a top Notch running Game ...If QB Matt Scott is a nice Dual threat QB and can make the Throws to Gronko and the WR's the Wildcats shouod have excellent ATS Value .  The Road Games are very hard and Arizona might lose 5+ of the 6

UCLA and Arizona St. should be Good teams to fade in upto 5+ selected games each ...I think only one of these teams might go Bowling ... ... Arizona St. might start off 5-1 and go in the Toliet for 5+ Games ,,,UCLA is Overrated and might be a great fade on the Road

Washington should win 3+ Games Staright up this year and Maybe 6+ ATS ... the scarry thing is the Huskies were 0-9 ATS vs the PAC10 LY and 1-11 ATS Overall....

Washington St. can only be better right ??? Might only win 1 game vs the PAC10.....

I put my scores to the right of yoyrs.  Cal can beat Oregon but has a hard time with Ore St.  Washington is usually a tough matchup for Cal.  Stanford doesn't have the defense to hang with Cal, and Cal's secondary owns the Stanford passing game.  Minny has the better QB and is at home in a different time zone which is always tough.  Something tells me ASU stinks so bad Erikson is fired before the season is through.

can't wait to get to the ACC

I am sure we disagree on Stanford ? I might be too high on them for most people this year ...

DoubleUp4Life says:

Yeah we seem to be on the Same Page

CAL should go 9-3 or better ...The running game is top shelf... Love the secondary and D-Line ... The LB's will be fine .... Hoping Mansion steals the QB Job

right now I am predicting... USC ,CAL Oregon, and  Oregon St will make a bowl game forsure ...

Stanford ,Arizona both have an very good chance to make a Bowl as well...

I think UCLA and Arizona St  wiull be on the fence at 5-7 or 6-6 at best ...

I know Stanford has been total garbage on the road ... 6-6 or better does seem likely IMO and I think 6-3 ATS vs the PAC10 like last year sounds about right again

Really Like Masoli as well....Brother

Blount and Masoli should run for alot of yards this year...1K each+

Matt Scott might be pretty good with the talent he has around him ...at AZ..if he stinks zona could be in big trouble

Corp or whoever is starting at USC should put up great #'s

Andrew Luck has to be better than that fraud Pritchard.......

Locker is a good leader ,...not sure about his accurcy

Yeah we both hate ASU this year ... should be some good money to be made ... especially in PAC10 play....

I am starting to like the Hukies more and more but you are right only IF Locker remains healthy .... my luck I will jump on them and they will go 0-9 ATS vs the PAC10 again

Arizona has a brutal schedule and i would not be shocked to see them slip to 500. or less ... although they have plenty of talent on DL<LB,SEC,TE,WR and RB the only real ??? is Matt Scott at QB

I kind of agree with what you said here. It drives me crazy to see 4-5 guys get carries throughout the game. There's no flow. They all have DIFFERENT styles. I'd like to see them go with 2-3 a game, but which 2-3 do you go with. Yes, Stafon is the better overall back, but he's not a homerun. Neither is CJ. I think Stafon is the best, followed closely with Joe, CJ, and than Tyler and Bradford. They are all so damn good. Its tough to choose. Bradford was the best running back I ever saw in high school. I thought he'd win a Heisman by now. Not a fan of CJ's. He's just blah. He'll make a bad play and let it ruin him for the rest of the game. He should have transferred. He'd be a star at UCLA.

I know what you mean about Joe. I'm frustrated with him as well. But he never was really healthy last year. This is his make or break year. He really needs to step up big time, and I think he does.

The guy I wish we had back was Broderick Green. He was the best of the bunch. Everyone got a glimpse of him vs. Wazzu, but I've seen him just shred the first team defense. Maualuga wanted no part of him. The Razorbacks will get an all-sec back next year.

I think I could run for 4 yards per carry with the offensive line USC brings. So no matter who's out there, that running back will get plenty of yards. My only concern is during crunch time. Thats when the 3-4 back system doesnt work.

I HAVE A BAD FEELING ABOUT THE GAME AT THE SHOE.

This is going to be a tough game for them to win. I might even take OSU and the points in this one.

good stuff double - agree with USC not necessarily killing SJ St by 30 or more, with new QB and Ohio St on deck, against not horrible SJ St defense could be 31-7 type going through the motions

The Front 7 look pretty good

DE Dexter Davis is in the backfild a ton recording 15 TKFL Ly

Lawernce Guy was a FR AA LY

LB's Nixon and Goethal are usually in the right Gaps and make the tackle

The WR's  don't drop many balls Chris McGaha ,Taylor and Williams form a nice trio...

The CB's look good on paper and should benefit from a better pass rush this season than the 23 Sacks the Sun Devils had LY

Concerns

The O-Line has been horrible 89 Sacks combined the L 2yrs.. only paving the way for 2.9 and 3.2 YPC ..

On Par with A&M during that span as the worst BCS O-Line

The Safeties should are very green and should get burned alot ...

Will any of the QB's Pan Out ??

No Gimmies on The schedule starting in week 3 at Georgia ...ASU could lose any game from there on out ...

Wagering

Arizona St is one of my favorite Fade teams ..Starting with at Georgia I see them going 3-7 or worse ATS in the last 10

I am glad you can somehow read my Degen Posts ...

For Homefield I look at the recent history at home , say the last 5 years .. I give Min- Max numbers for each team and then award what I think is the true HF Advantage for that weeks matchup

Example

LSU would get more points for a night game than a day game

Or a Team might get More points if it's Foe is along way from home or has been on the road for 2+ games

Strengths

Gone is nice guy but Overrated HC Tyrone Willingham... in steps

Steve Sarkisian from USC with a winning energy..

Nice Job of Hiring away  DC Nick Holt who was the DC at USC the last 2 years

All Hopes rest on QB Jake Locker . who does not know the term slide ...While his passing can be erratic(14 TD's 15 INts 47.3% in 07) His Legs and toughness should keep the Huskies in some Ball Games this season ..

9 Players return in the secondary with starting experience ..

The Front 7 has to be better with all 7 returning ... it does not get much worse than LY when UW gave up 38.6 PPG , and 241 Yards rushing a Game (5.7 YPC) only getting to the QB 16 times

DE Daniel Teo-Nesheim was 1st team All PAC 10 LY  making 65 Tackles with 10.5 being for a loss

Concerns

The O-Line has to be be alot better at protecting the QB and not getting pushed around

While there is some depth at RB .. Someone needs to step up...

Chris Polk if he can stay healthy should have a Breakout year

Will the Defense stop anyone this year ??? some good pieces and coaching are in place but there are alot of what If's

Wagering

The Huskies should have some Value this year after 0-12 LY and 1-11 ATS...Might be getting extra points after LY's horrible results.

Looking at backing the Huskies in these games

Idaho if laying 20 or less

vs USC if catching 24+

at Notre Dame if getting 20+

at Arizona St... this one really jumps out at me

at UCLA   Fading the Bruins

vs Washington St  Sark will not lose to WSU

vs CAL  Hoping for 10+... this is a bad spot for the Bears with the Huskies likely playing this like it's their Bowl game

in the 2nd year of Neuhesiel's system should be a little better on offense

The O-Line has alot of players coming back that had ti play when the Unjury Bug Bit

Nice Poss. Type TE's and WR's on the roster

Bosworth and Prince should have excellent Numbers this season ... Now if the Front 7 could just stop the run

Concerns

The Running Game Stinks .. 116th in the country at a miserable 83 Yards per LY

Will UCLA finally get good QB Play ???  Prince and Co. will have to make plays vs some Good teams in order for the Bruins to go Bowling ??

No Real Deep threats at WR and teams should stack the Line

 and Force Prince into mistakes

The O-Line has given up 71 Sacks the last years

The schedule is Really Tough I don't see them having much chance winning at Tennessee and the Pac 10 Schedule almost has no Gimmies on Board

some experience might go along way for the Bruins but they will need alot of breaks to get to 7-5+

The Running Game should be the focal point this year after utting up solid numbers LY 158 PG 4.1 YPC

Gribsby and True FR Antolin combined for 23 TD's and 1678 Rushing ..

The WR's Look great/ although Thomas is gone ofto the NFL

TE Rob Gronkowski should have a monster year after Fighting Mono LY and still getting 47-672  10 TD..

Dean and Turner have great size at 6-4 and 6-2.. both should be matchups problems for most teams.

Good read as always brother! Just had a quick question for you....how do you determine how many points for home field advantage for each team? I've always struggled with this, and any input would be much appreciated. Good luck this year! Can't wait!

Great info Double.

Gotta say I think USC's coaching changes are going to play a larger roll than people are mentioning on these boards. Pete's gotta manage a lot more this year between the talent and breaking in the new coaches. I think this leaves them a little more vulnerable than most years.
BillyBarrou says:

I saw the SJST - USC total at 50 in Vegas...  and I'm leaning under as well...

Your instincts about Arizona State are spot on IMO.  The only thing that snapped their 6 game losing streak last year were back to back games against the Washington schools.  Dennis Erickson gets the axe on November 8th! (one day after the SC game)

Parkingmeter says:

I can only guess you are not a keen follower of USC Football, if your were, you would know that Pete Carroll has ALWAYS had a balanced offense and 400 rushing/200 passing isn't his coaching style.  Look for a close to 50/50 rushing/passing offense again this year for USC.

Funny thing, Aaron Corp is the Matt Lienart of 2003, with one difference, Aaron can run.

1969USC says:

USC weaknesses:

McKnight fumbles.  Carries the ball away from his body.

Mustain and Barkley throw interceptions.

Too many penalties, esp. holding.

They keep trying plays that don't work, Tin Cup syndrome.  One game ly, they must have tried 10 times to run the ball up the middle in a game and were stopped each time.

Pete Carroll will not adjust when the QB is having a bad day.  Either pull him, or go to the running game.  The loss to Stanford is a prime example.  4 int. by Booty.

Until these weaknesses are fixed, the defense will have to carry the team, again.

USC losses have little to do with the opponets talent, and more to do with when the QB is having an off game.  Could happen anytime.
