Saturday Bases

Moving into the first weekend in MAY is always a good time to start betting.  I've done my homework and look forward to another great baseball season.  Good to see you friends.

First play of the year:

Pittsburgh -104

Mike Leak for the Reds overachieved all season long last year.  He is 2nd tier at best and a struggling Pitt lineup should get their swings in today. In James Mcdonald's last 17 innings against the Reds, he has allowed only 4 ER in 17-1/3 innings.  Pitt gets the W at a cheap price today.  Even with Pitt being the weakest offensive team in my power ratings (Pitt: 100, Reds: 119) I still have them as a -144 favorite in this game, nearly a 40 cent difference from the line.

Good luck boys, going to be a great season, just like college basketball.  Look forward to seeing some posts from some old friends.

Doc's NFL week 3 picks and write-ups

GL today brothers

Bengals -2.5 (1.5 units)

The Bengals have pushed their way out of the gate to a nice 2-0 ATS and 1-1 SU record.  The streak continues as the 49ers travel for the early game into the ET zone.  Andy Dalton has actually been decent  posting a QB rating of 105.7 (take that Carson Palmer!) and the running game is sustainable.  Bensen is 9th overall in yards rushing in the league and AJ Green has a 165 yards receiving.  He also has 4 plays of 20+ yards from the line of scrimmage.  They are 8th in points allowed (don't get too excited, playing CLE and DEN in your first two games one would expect a top 10 ranking here).  Alex Smith looked horrible again in his last game, in which the 49ers blew a late lead.  An interesting note about that game, it has been reported the shoestring tackle on the one yard line cost betters 74 million dollars worldwide.  Amazing.  Anyway, back to this game and why the 49ers will get beat.  The 49ers threw the kitchen sink at Dallas and came away with an emotional defeat.  They should come out flat for the early morning game.  49ers also a small dog coming off a loss as home dog, not a favorable position.  On top of that line movement has moved against the public money, suggesting smart money has spoken.

Packers -3.5

Sunday brought one the worst 2nd halves of football in the Lovie Smith era in Chicago.  The offensive line was terr... [More]

Doc Week 2 Picks

Season Record 4-4 (Drinking the Juice)

Bears +7

I don't think a write up is necessary here.  Saints are a false favorite playing a solid Bears squad that could potentially win this game straight up.  I look for Mike Martz to move the chains and get it done here.

Chargers +7

The Chargers continue to have fire power on offense and problems on special teams.  However, 7 points is just a crazy number for this team to catch against a Patriots defense that looked more than exploitable in Monday night's game agsinst the Dolphins.  Chad Henne threw for over 400 yards in the affair.  Since Philips Rivers is twice as good as Henne, he should be able to throw for around 800 yards or so.  This line may also be an over-reaction to the Chargers game against the Vikings.  Although they trailed big in the game, the Chargers dominated in every aspect (except those pesty special teams!).  Patriots will come off a short week and with everybody praising them after an exciting Monday night game that everybody watched, I look for a letdown here as Chargers cover.

Colts +2

Peyton is out and this might continue for awhile.  The Colts come home after an embarrassing loss on the road to the Texans only to find another opponent coming off a bad loss; the BROWNS!  Colt and Browns got beat up at home against Cincy and boy was it ugly.  They were not able to move the ball or stop the ball on the defensive side... 49-38-1

Got my wisdom teeth out yesterday so eating hydrocodone like candy

Let's hope it doesn't affect my capping and given this first play, maybe it is....

AUBURN +13.5 This line has moved sharply since opening, Auburn is 5-1 ATS on the road and played a good FL team tough last week.  I think this squad is improving and nothing about south carolina impresses me.

Looking to make several plays throughout the day so stay tuned and as always good luck to all.

Doc's NCAA Monday BABY (43-32-1)

43-32-1

Idaho St +4    Idaho st averaging 20 FTs a game at home this season, this team can get to the stripe.  They average 72 points a game at home shooting 47 percent.  Montana st on the other hand not great on the road averaging just 62 points per game, with all 8 of their losses being on the road (3-8 overall SU, 1-7 ATS).  Idaho st, though weak overall, are 4-2 at home SU.  If Idaho St keeps MTU off the offensive rebounds, great shot to win this outright.

Doc's NCAA Tuesday (39-29-1)

39-29-1

Big day yesterday and only getting better

Depaul +20  Classic letdown spot for Marquette. First of all, they are a "false favorite" favored by 20+ coming off a loss to Louisville.  On deck for the Eagles: @ # 16 ND, vs # 8 Uconn, vs # 3 SYRA, @ # 7 NOVA  --  The hardest part of their schedule.  Depaul has lost 5 in a row: CIN, # 9 GT, WV, SH, and UCONN.  Of those games, only losing one by this margin (20 points exactly to UCONN and the FG differential was astronomical 31.9% - 50.9%).
They only lost by 2 to WV who just turned around and beat a solid Purdue squad. I'm taking the points.

Also considering Syracuse getting the points.  However I put the line at pitt -6.5 so tough for me to go against.

Doc's NCAA Picks Sunday

33-28-1

Took yesterday off, looked like all the top teams played, won and covered.  Getting slaughtered in NFL after a nice season has me irritated but confident I'll win it back and more.

N. CAR -5.5
St. Bonaventure +7.5

Like both teams in these spots today.  Georgia Tech has not been strong and UNC coming off a huge comeback game.  They should feel energized (and lucky) - I think they play well today.

Meanwhile St B playing a RI team now overvalued after a nice win.  RI averageing just 64 ppg last 5 giving up 72 ppg over that span.  They can't out rebound anybody and aren't shooting the rock well.  They might have a little pep in their step but should be a classic letdown.  I'd be surprised if they even squeak out the W.

GL to all and as always lets pound it today

Doc's NCAA Wednesday

Only 1 play for now after 1-3 yesterday! Saw a lot of top cappers on covers took a beating yesterday Gotta get back on the horse.

Tonight:

Indiana St. -1.5

Just a delicious line with a solid squad.  Both Lathan and Kelly should play tonight (although I'm not all that convinced they are any worst with them out - the way they shreaded N Iowa).  Limiting opts to 57.8 pts in conference play (4-1) and really limiting the other teams options on the offensive end.  I would like to see ISU clean up those turnovers, however.  They have a real nice chance to win their conference if they can take care of the ball.

GL to all tonight brothas
