Washington Post completes the online poker investigation

Anybody following the public de-pantsing of the online poker industry can continue following it at the Washington Post.

Last night, 60 Minutes televised its report outlining the basic dirtiness surrounding the cheating scandals at Absolute Poker and UltimateBet.

That investigation was a partnership between CBS and the Washington Post.

So it comes as no surprise that WaPo has completed the circle this weekend with a very in-depth discussion of the scandal, as well as including background information about the Kahnawake reserve.

While a lot of the WaPo report is a rehash of the 60 Minutes piece, of particular interest is the discussion about the pros and cons of regulating the online gambling industry in America, titled Prohibition vs. Regulation Debated As U.S. Bettors Use Foreign Sites.

For anybody wondering how, if, or why online regulation could happen in America, this is a must-read.

Kudos to the Washington Post for bringing this story to the forefront.

I watched this last night and it was very good. That goes to show you right there you should never play any card games online.  Now I'm not saying that everything is rigged and you will never win.  That just wouldn't be true.  But it's enough of a warning to beware.  Why in the world would anyone play something that isn't regulated is beyond me.

Also something else I am worried about now.  Even though it's great that this was exoosed for the ones not in the know.  It does also shine a light on what we do to the goverment once again. North and South of the border.  Also that little non-descript building is not non-descript anymore.  That really worries me.

After I watched this though, what would stop me from opening an online casino.  I have a place in Canada....well........I guess it's not really Canada.  Make that a reservation to host my software.  I can get some dirty little outfit to run it for me by doing the deposits and payouts and I am in business.

are you guys saying that since online poker is not regulated that these sites software is designed to make the right card fall that would in turn tempt players to put more money in the pot to increase pot rake in certain situations?

Great read. Thanks for the post.  I still can't wrap my head around how the lawmakers believe that "banning" gambling is for the better good of everyone.

Well this something that anyone that has played long enough would have already known. You should know better than to mess with that online Bull S.

wonderwoman,

It was an inside job where they knew what everybody else's cards were at the table at any given time. Naturally, they then knew when to bluff and when to fold.
