Who Wins the 2010 NFC South?

Although you should never count out the last-placed team from a season ago in this division, I am assuming we can count out Tampa Bay.

Which leave the Panthers, Falcons, and Saints.

I see this division like the old Ice Hockey game for the NES.

Fat Guy, Medium Guy, Skinny Guy.

Of those three teams...

Panthers are the Fat Guy = Best defense, worst offense
Falcons are the Medium Guy = All-Around good on both sides
Saints are the Skinny Guy = Best offense, worst defense

I see the Panthers improving a bit on (an already decent) offense, Atlanta gelling better than last season on both sides of the ball, and the Saints improving on defense.

So, who improves the most to be able to win this division?

+200 is on offer for all three teams, so even the books have no effing clue.

I am a massive Saints fan, but keeping my support out of this.  Please try to do the same if you are a supporter of one of these four teams.

JLT9889..The best receiver in the game is not Smith I think maybe he is 3rd behind. Randy Moss and Larry Fitzgerald.

I think Carolina wins if they stick with the ground game. Smash and Dash baby!

steve smith just doesnt get the attention like andre johnson.  larrry fitzgeraldn had a good playoff run and now u say he is better than smith?  have u seen smith play? he plays outta of his mind. thats my opinion.

The Saints have an awesome offense, but defense is no good. They will never win more than 8 games until they have a defense their opponents score down. But Brees is one of the top 5 QB's in the league right now.

That was a good post.

Saints D will be much improved.  Offense will be awesome again, especially with Reggie Bush healthy.  Those dump-off passes to Bush are almost unstoppable.

Problem is, everybody else is betting the Saints too.  Their Wins Total is +/- 8.5 wins is already at -170, which means everybody and their mother is betting Saints to win 9 games this year.

This is one time the public is right, Saints win 9 games minimum!

Great posts guys!  Thank you!

I love the comment about the dump-off passes to Bush.  My favorite play the Saints use.  Why?  Because they are hilarious to watch!  Every dump-off to Bush is like watching a real-life play from Tecmo Bowl, the old video game.

Either Bush is wide open and goes for 15+ yards or there are eight defenders waiting for him and Bush immediately turns around and tries to reverse field, just like you did in the video game when your opponent called the right defense!  HAHAHA!

Funny shit.

But if Bush is free in the open, UH OH.............

Okay, let's keep the thoughts flowing!

First off, I wish the media would stop riding the NFC East's balls so much and realize some of the best NFL football, EVERY year, is in the NFC South.

For those who say Atlanta is a total team doesn't know Atlanta.  Their defense ended up worse than the Saints by season's end.  Matt Ryan also hit a wall late in the season.

This division comes down to the Saints defense.  They've made all the right moves to correct it.  Jenkins won't see as much time this seaon beacuse they also got Jabari Greer from Buffalo.  If the Saints defense improves, and Payton sticks to the run game more as he promised...again...Saints pull away with this division with a November/December win streak into the playoffs.

Saints Defense.  I agree.  That is the major key as to what happens.

Caroliina. They had one bad playoff game (all right; it was horribly ugly) so everyone is ready to write them off.

But year after year, down after consistent down, they play football. They run. They defend. They special team. They pass a little.

On the Saints, I actually think the key is Reggie Bush. He needs to develop along the lines of Marshall Faulk. I see no reason he couldn't, and the West Coast offense is built for that.

What the Saints defense most needs is a breather... a ball-possession offense.

If in doubt, I'll go with the long track record. I don't think Carolina is all that. I just don't think the Saints or Falcons (who this year will not be playing a last-place schedule) are either.

With respect.
