Twitter feeds and rumor mills are burning to the ground with the rising buzz that Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers may have a concussion after taking a helmet-to-helmet hit from Chicago’s Julius Peppers in last Sunday’s NFC Championship Game.
Rodgers, who has already suffered concussions this season, refuted the claims that his brain was mush when addressing the media this week.
“I didn’t have a concussion,” Rodgers said in comments distributed by the team. “I want to dispel that rumor. No concussion. I was fine. Yeah. Helmets are designed to prevent concussions, I think.”
You think, huh? The one you wear does. The one that holds my Sweet-Chili-Heat Doritos on Sundays does not. Let’s just hope, for Green Bay’s sake, Rodgers didn’t confuse the two.

The Capital Times is one of the growing number of media members who are buying into the Cheesehead cover-up conspiracy theory. He’s a health reporter and claims that Rodgers’ appearance following the hit fit the bill for a concussed QB. Without bugging the Packers’ trainers’ room, there’s no real way to know if Rodgers is really messed up or not.
Do you think Green Bay is keeping a tight lip on Rodgers’ status and hoping the extra week off will help him clear the cobwebs? Or is this just bye-week bullshit from a bunc...

The Academy Award nominations were released this week, which is a pretty big deal in the sports betting community, believe it or not.
Many books offer prop odds on the major categories like Best Picture and Best Supporting Actress and, for a lot of oddsmakers, setting these fun numbers is a nice break from the football grind between the championship games and the Super Bowl.
But what if the crossover went even deeper between Oscars and sports betting? What if the Academy Awards honored the sports world’s best and brightest – kind of like what the ESPYS try to do but without all the fan-friendly fluff?
Here are some Oscar inspired categories with odds and the athletes who should get the nod:
Best Actor (Most dramatic athlete)
- LeBron James for The Decision -250
- Brett Favre for Penis Pics +170
- Michael Vick for All Dogs Go To Heaven – and the Pro Bowl +500

For the third-ranked team in the land, the Syracuse Orange are a bunch of pushovers – literally.
The Orange dropped their second straight conference clash Saturday, losing 83-72 to the Villanova Wildcats as 5.5-point home favorites.
Syracuse stood flatfooted as Villanova’s frontcourt crashed the glass for second-chance points down the stretch, building a double-figure lead that would withstand a late push from the Orange.
The on-the-ball defense was just as soft, applying token pressure to Villanova’s guards, who simply dribbled around the Syracuse players.
And forget about throwing your body in there to draw the charge. Forward Kris Joseph was whistled for a foul in the final minutes on a play that had the potential to be a game-changing charge. But instead, Joseph was late to the spot and opted for reaching, rather than man up and take the bump.
In a down year for the entire NCAA, the once-rough-and-rugged Big East lacks that toughness that has been its trademark for so many years – starting with the face of the conference: The Syracuse Orange.
The Orange are home to Seton Hall this Tuesday. The Pirates are coming off a loss to Rutgers at home but are slowly working star guard Jeremy Hazell back into the rotation. He finished with 15 points on 6-of-21 shooting Saturday.
Seton Hall fell 61-56 to Syracuse at home earlier this month, covering as a 7.5-point underdog.

The Cleveland Cavaliers continue to feel the wrath of the Miami Heat and former star LeBron James – even when they’re playing the Heat’s main title competition, the Los Angeles Lakers.
After L.A. was dealt a one-sided beating from Miami on Christmas Day, the Lakers have been considered fallen champions. So, with the Heat in town to play the Clippers Wednesday, the Lakers wanted to flex their muscles and show they can also pound on LeBron’s old squad, whipping the Cavs 112-57 Tuesday night.
The message was somewhat received, prompting James to take another swing at his former teammates, posting “Crazy. Karma is a b****. Gets you every time. It's not good to wish bad on anybody. God sees everything!” on his Twitter account. Leave it to LeBron to make it all about himself and confuse Phil and Kobe’s wrath for God’s.
Do you think the Lakers’ beatdown of Cleveland was a message to Miami or was it just a great team playing a bad one? And should we expect the same from the Heat when they take on the Lakers' roommates, the Clippers, Wednesday?
I'm gladly giving the 8.5 points expecting this NBA pissing contest to continue.

It’s a great time to be a sports gamer. Video game developers are giving fans of sports sims just what they want.
First, Fight Night added Mike Tyson to the roster, then NBA 2K11 went ole skool with Michael Jordan and all his amazing moments and recently MLB: The Show 11 will feature the World Champion San Francisco Giants in all their black-bearded glory.
Now, EA Sports is fulfilling a dream of every golfer, adding Augusta National to its latest edition of its Tiger Woods PGA franchise.
Even better, EA Sports has dubbed the newest installment “Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters”. Goosebumps…
"People are eager to look back as much as they are to look forward," Peter Moore, the president of EA Sports, told Kotaku.com. "Sports is as much about nostalgia and legendary moments as it is the anticipation of the playoffs coming up. All of that is something video games have tapped very well."
I’m not a huge golf game fan, but I do have Tiger Woods 10 for the Wii and enjoy hitting the link for 18 in the middle of winter. This announcement has me excited to buy the upcoming version, how about you?

If you’re not sure if you want to give or take the 10-point spread in Saturday’s NFC Wildcard matchup between the New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks, let the video below push you off the fence.
All I can say is Qwest Field had better remedy this ugly situation within the next 20 hours or they’ll have a damn riot on their hands. Could you imagine this happening at the Bell Centre in Montreal or Lincoln Financial Field in Philly? It would start a revolution.
For shame Seahawks. May karma bite you in the ass.
