Which draft pick will be the biggest star?

The NBA and NHL Drafts went down this week, reloading each league with a flood of young talent.

Oklahoma Sooners stud Blake Griffin was first overall in the NBA Draft, finding a new home with the Los Angeles Clippers after sweeping the Player of the Year honors in the NCAA.

In the NHL, London Knights star John Taveras was selected as the top dog by the New York Islanders after leading the OHL in scoring and setting the league’s all-time goal record with 213 career goals.

Both athletes are phenomenal talents headed to franchises in need of total overhauls. Sometimes that’s a good thing, but it can also spell doom for a top prospect. The weight of a waning team can be too much to handle in the first few years.

So with that in mind, which No. 1 pick will have the biggest impact on their teams’ future?

The NHL playoffs were FAR better then the nba playoffs this year. Wasn't even close.

I don't watch the NHL so I have no way of comparing, but did any of the series match the drama and excitement of the first round Chicago/Boston series? That thing was freaking great.

Absolutely no doubt about it. I had a bet on Chicago +500 to win the series so I was disappointed but any way you slice it that was an awesome awesome series. If I had to pick one SERIES I would say that was the best, but as a whole the NHL playoffs were better.

Curry has good chance to be ROY as he will average 16-18 gm for Warriors.

Blake Griffin will be the best player... but that's an easy call...

best after Blake:

Tyreke Evans, James Harden, Stephen Curry, Johnny Flynn...

most likely bust is Rubio... although he has some huge upside if he can make it through the first couple years of struggling and keep his confidence...

biggest sleeper is Ty Lawson... he is a sure thing to be an impact player in the NBA... a lot of teams will be sorry they passed on him... Minnesota will look like complete fools for trading him and keeping Rubio... 3 years in a row TWolves have embarrassed themselves in the draft...

What's the point of trying to guess who's gonna be the best this early?

Watch the game and see the harder worker develop into a star.

In recent years, the top draft picks usually turned out to be daft pricks.

Ricky Rubio is the best guard in the draft. He will dominate the NBa for the next 15 years. For those who do not agree, I would confidently assume that you never watch the guy, he is the real deal.

by the way, it is nonsense to call Rubio a bust because he already played in the professional level and international tournaments. I would predict that if he had played in NCAA, he would average 20 points 15-20assists 3-5 steals 1-3 block

The Russian defenseman taken by the Capitals in the 2nd round (55th pick) - Orlov will be a mega-star, a future Norris Trophy winner. You heard it hear first!

The funny thing about Curry is that he's exactly the type of player the Warriors DON'T need. That's why shipping him with the others for Amare Stoudemire make sense. Golden State already has Stephen Jackson, Monta Ellis and others in a crowded back court; Stoudemire would have made them an instant playoff contender.

He's a long shot here, but don't underestimate Tyler Hansbrough's potential for a big rookie year. It's true thatt all the credit he gets for being a "hard worker" really overshadows the fact that he's got a lot of pure basketball ability. Good passer, rebounder, low-post scorer, etc.
