Boise State -12.5

Nevada's rushing attack is good, but their passing attack is pathetic. Boise has the athletes on the outside to man up 1 on 1 and load the box to stop the pistol. Sure, Nevada will get their yards, and points..but I see Boise covering this one late off a turnover. Boise is #2 in turnover margin, whereas Nevada is #70. Weather could also play a factor here and that definitely doesn't help Nevada.

Boise will nut up tonight and stop that rushing attack on first down, and get Nevada behind the chains. Can Nevada do that to Boise? Probably, but being that Nevada is dead last in the country in pass defense, does it matter?

Nevada is a good, solid team but Boise is too much here at home. They are playing for the BCS, there is no look ahead...this is it.

Texas A&M +21

On paper, if you look at it, Texas should win this game by 35. Will that happen? Who knows. I personally do not think so and here's why.

Since 1990 (and I didn't go further because 20 years is enough) Texas and A&M have faced off at Kyle Field 10 times, and only once has the game gotten out of hand where Texas won by more than 3 scores. This is an arch rival, and emotions are always high.

A&M has played very well at home this year. They are 5-1 with a very tough loss to Oklahoma State, who is a good football team (that UT destroyed I know).

I think A&M can keep this game to 14-17 points and maybe even get a backdoor cover. Mack has no incentive to run the score up in this one. He needs to win 2 games and he is in the MNC. I think if UT gets a lead we might see a little conservative approach.

In the games where we saw UT's offense not light people up were TT, OU and UCF. What do all these schools have in common? Their ability to get too and sack the QB. All of those schools are top 10 nationally in sacks...so I like my chances considering A&M is #11 in the country in sacks with the leading sack master in regards to Von Williams who has 15+.

A&M HAS to run the football. Even though it probably will not work, they have to give the ball to Michael and their other back to keep UT from pinning their ears back under Muschamps system. I think they will have decent success and kind of take the a... [More]

NBA Thursday: LARGE ALERT

1-1 on LARGE BETS this year..

Atlanta -3 (Hook) --- LARGE

Really like ATL here. They are coming off back to back, and this is their 4th game in 7 days with 3 of them being on the road and all in different time zones. Atlanta has had a 4 day break to recharge the batteries after a loss to N.O. I think ATL gets back on the winning streak tonight and it starts another one.

No other plays today. Cutting out DEGEN action in all sports except maybe CFB.

Like the Nets here. I think Frank sticking up for his guys big time (again) will give them a little boost in morale. They have been relatively close in every game, if they can just hang on in the last 7-8 minutes I like my chances. As for the Knicks, even though the Lakers are just sick, the Knicks are playing good ball once they got rid of that ridiculous run and gun offense. I'm hoping they can be somewhat successful at controlling the clock a little bit. We'll see how she goes...BOL to everyone.

Bowling Green -10 (Hook)
Eastern Mich/Toledo UNDER 62
Utah State +24 (Hook)
Utah State/Boise OVER 62

Notes: There were some puzzling line movements for tonight's action. I think you always have to take line movement into consideration, but it cannot be your sole purpose of picking a game, or reason. If you are doing that, you are capping, you are guessing. It takes both to successfully pick games. The Bowling Green line movement is ridiculous. Are people really laying that much on Akron? Or is it a head fake to lure bettors in on Akron? Who knows, so I threw out the notion of line movement, and as we say in stocks, when on fundamentals. Let's take a look at this one.

Bowling Green has had 8 days off, Akron 7. Bowling Green has the #4 passing offense in the country, Akron has the #60 Pass Efficiency Defense in the country. Now, some may ask, why are you not paying attention to their stout #29 ranking against the pass overall? My answer to that is because you cannot look solely at pass defense ranking, if the team is getting blown out, or their rushing defense is very bad..it skews the ranking due to teams not throwing the ball. Akron is 96th against the run.

The tale of the tape came down to this, though. Bowling Green has everything to play for (Bowl eligibility and a winning season), whereas Akron has nothing but pride to play for. After being up on Temple by 10 and getting the shit kicked out them, I can only imagine the morale. The deciding f... [More]

Oklahoma State -17

Notes: This was a very tough call to make as I think Colorado has full capability of staying within this number considering Oklahoma State could be looking ahead to the big showdown next weekend against OU. But, its senior day and I suspect the guys will show out ready to play. Colorado is just not a good football team, and regardless if Robinson will play the entire night or not, they are giving up over 150 yards on the ground a game. This doesn't bode well for a team averaging 200 a game. So I like Okie Light here, no play on the total.

Notes:
Staying away from totals tonight, they have been my nemesis it seems lately. Central Michigan is just too tough for Ball State. This was not as easy of a call as it may look. CMU might be looking ahead to Northern Illinois next week, and that could seriously hamper the results tonight. But I feel that they, in the end, will win by 2TDs due to a much superior offense and Ball State being down in the dumps for losing again. They get 1 day less to prepare for this one than CMU as well.

Temple -4
Cincinnati / West Va OVER 55

Notes: The movement of the Temple line makes me a little nervous but I'm not going to let it phase me. They are clearly the better team. They don't do it pretty, but they win. They have an extra 2 days rest. The matchup I really like is Temple's RB against the #89 rush D in the country. That is not good for Akron. Their offense is pathetic...I think this one will be another ugly one for Temple, and they win by a TD. No play on total.

I couldn't decide on a side in Cincy...so I went over. I think WVU's offense will finally have a less bad game. Cincy has a good defense do not get me wrong, but I see this game a lot like the Cincy-USF game, only WVU's QB will be a bit more careful. I can see this one playing out like 35-21 or something like that...it should be a good one.

CFB Thursday Plays: **** 59-29 (67%) ****

Bowling Green -3 (Hook)
Bowling Green / Miami (OH) OVER 57.5

Rutgers -2.5

Notes: Bowling Green is solid, but Miami (OH) is a very good team as well. Do not be fooled, they are better than their record indicates. Both teams like to sling the ball around which makes me comfortable taking this over, but then again it could be a game where both defenses step up due to one dimensional play by the offenses. We'll see, but I see this going over in the 4th qtr late in the game.

As for Rutgers, I like them here because of Schiano. He always seems to get his team prepared for the bigtime weekday games. He has had USF's number the last 4 years (including the beatdown last year) and I think the trend continues tonight. They force turnovers on defense and they rarely ever give it up...1st in turnover margin in the country. They will get to BJ Daniels and force the young QB into a mistake or two which will be the difference in the game.
