Why The Flyers are a joke heading into the playoffs...

Here's a team with so many skilled players both offensively and defensively, and yet, heading into the postseason, their fans are supposed to believe that Michael Leighton and/or Brian Boucher will backstop this team deep into the playoffs.

At least with Ray Emery, you have a guy who has brought a team to the Stanley Cup final, even if he hasn't looked anything like that player lately.

So, can anyone tell me why this team didn't make a move on deadline day to acquire a goalie?  It's not like there weren't options out there. There were enough teams that would have been willing to deal their netminders for the right price.

Whoa, whoa, whoa.  Let's get one thing straight. I'm definitely not a Flyers fan.  However, just watching their game last night made me think about how important goaltending is, even despite the fact the rest of their team looks perfectly assembled.

No worries, I'm not really one either but I'm a fan of the franchise; that is, I think it's great for hockey (just like I can't stand Les Habitants - being a big Bruins fan - but it just wouldn't be the same NHL without them)

To call the team a joke is quite a stretch.  People assume that just because the Flyers or Caps didnt add a goalie is because they didn't try, come on now, obviously holgream was working the phones trying to get a goalie but the deals he was offered simply must not have been enough.  The team obviously hoped Emery would be the answer, but he"s injured.  It's not like GM's are unaware of their teams situation, just because you need a goalie doesnt mean you will automatically get one.  And as far as Price and Halak are concerned Gauthier made it clear that neither would be moved at deadline day, so thus there werent actually many options out there, Vokoun was the only viable option, and he has a big contract that obviously just could not get worked out

So just because they didnt add a goalie you assume that they weren't shopping for one? teams cant just pick players off others teams an dhave them, they need to be getting a fair return and obviously any goaltending deals that were offered just simply didnt add up.

Leighton for Conne Smythe.

He won't allow a goal the entire series vs Montreal.

What a great goaltender.
