Kill Your Television!

I watched tonight's debate through the camera lens of CNN.

Afterwards, I spent about one half an hour viewing CNN: The viewer poll evaluation results were Obama 54% - McCain 30% - Undecided 16%.

I then turned to Fox News for a "fair and balanced"...and very different...assessment of the debate.  Fox viewers voted 84% in favor of McCain's performance.

The average American has no idea how his/her cultural, social, and political lives are controlled by the media that he or she chooses to consume.

Shame on both networks, but especially Fox News, which has been labeled a mouthpiece for the Republican Party for years.

My advice: Search the Internet for the transcript of the debate.  And pay no mind to the "focus groups" of undecided voters that each network has assembled.  The typical response is, "Neither candidate was specific enough for me to make a decision."  Both candidates know they can not rely upon the House and Senate to comply with any of their ideas, so do not expect details.

Remember that the television is for entertainment purposes only.

Your vote is a much more serious matter.

There are a number of very, very good points being made here and it's too bad most people don't think about them. First, yes, the media is a business of ratings. If it gets numbers, it's good. If it doesn't, dump it. Thoughtful analysis and unbiased news is dull. Rush Limbaugh is entertainment. Personally, if I want to know what's really going on in the United States, I read the Economist. Secondly, to UNDERdogin, yes, everyone thinks the President has all the ideas and makes all the rules. That only happens when the Congress lets it happen. And THAT only happens when we Americans elect people for the wrong reasons. Hence, eight years of a functioning moron. Obama will win this election. Probably by wider margins than had been thought. But I'll admit, it'll happen for a lot of the wrong reasons.

I have no doubt that 84% of FOX viewers are voting for McCain, and only around 30% of CNN viewers are going down that road.

I bet if BET were running a poll it would look much different than if the Military chanel were running a poll.

Im sure MTV would have staggering differences from the outdoor chanel. etc. so on and so forth.

Know what you are watching. And you will never be lead astray.

FOX = GOP

pretty much everything else is going to be slanted toward Obama

I think CNN network is also in favor of Democrat as well... Before Sarah Palin come to picture, Obama was the hot topic for CNN. They would cover Obama almost every minutes....

I like FOX News and find it very fair and balanced....don't assume your views and opinions are the only ones that matter.

By the way do you own a frigging mirror?
