Marquee games highlight week three action, attracting lots of attention from bettors
LONDON (September 12, 2008) – Just three weeks into the season, NCAA Football has it’s first true blockbuster match-up this weekend when the top-ranked USC Trojans face off against the 5th-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. The winner will remain on course for a shot at the national title, while the loser will likely say goodbye to a potential BCS Championship birth in January. Logans.com has the Trojans posted as 11.5 point favorites, but there’s a lot more for fans to wager on that the final result.
Logans.com has posted props on a range of individual player performances for the game, including how many passing yards each of the quarterbacks will throw for in the game. Ohio State’s Todd Boeckman’s over/under is set at 195.5 yards while USC counterpart Mark Sanchez is at 235.5 yards passing. USC is also a 1-2 favorite to score the game’s first points, compared to a line of 8-5 for Ohio State.
Experts are expecting a high scoring game, with the best odds for total points scored being set at 3-1, for a total of 43-49 points scored. If you’re looking for a long shot, and thing the game might be a low scoring defensive battle with zero to 14 points cored, you can cash in on a 15-1 wager. Fans can also bet on the margin of victory, with the likeliest results being a USC victory of seven-13 points or an Ohio State upset of one to three points.
Other key games to be played this weekend include2nd-ranked Georgia at SEC rival South Carolina and 3rd-ranked Oklahoma at Washington. The Bulldogs and Sooners are seven and 20.5 point favorites, respectively. In battles of top 25 teams, 10th-ranked Wisconsin travels to 21st-ranked Fresno State as 1.5 point favorites, while on Friday night 19th-ranked South Florida hosts 13th-ranked Kansas. The Jayhawks are a 3.5 point road underdog in that game. Another game of note features the 14th-ranked East Carolina Pirates, playing at Tulane, where they are a 13 point bet. East Carolina has started the season by defeating two ranked teams – Virginia Tech and West Virginia – and could be the Cinderella story of the season.
