I received Athlon and Lindy's College Preview Mags last week...

I pre-ordered around May 14, 2013 on the respective websites. I received Athlon by May 17, 2013 and I received Lindy's on May 19, 2013. I have also pre-ordered Phil Steele, but according to the website, it will not ship till June 18, 2013. But, I bet if you pre-order, you will get PS before then. If you order on their websites, I bet you will get Lindy's and Athlon in days...for those that want to wait, I believe Athlon will be on the newsstands on May 28, 2013...

I am already "pre-capping" the first five weeks. Athlon and Lindy's are ok, but P Steele is what I want to review. Other than Phil's obvious bias supporting Oklahoma, he has some good info.

But, as any descent capper knows who puts in the effort, you have to take that information and any other available information in context to support your selections. I don't rely on any one mag, and any one capper and I don't purchase selections, but that's a scam. There are 30+ of us on covers.com that would blow away the “pay for picks” frauds who sell garbage to the degenerate and naïve morons looking for action.   The only way to make money in this hobby is to be smart, do your research, and pray for a little luck…

Can anyone recommend other mags? I know blue book and gold sheet? Please post any others that you value. Thanks in advance!

How many days until kick-off???

Tuesday - LonghornHoosier - N. Dame, Akron, & KState

Its senior night in South Bend and Manhatten...Akron starts a new streak with eyes on a potential at large NCAA bid...All three are at home...The first two are gunning for the best NCAA seed possible...St John's is motivated for a potential NCAA bid, but without their high scorer D'Angelo Harrison #11; however, N Dame lost Scott Martin for the season to offset the gain...I think N Dame will TCB Tuesday night...Kansas State saw KU demolish Texas Tech by 37 on their Senior night.   Texas Tech soundly defeated TCU at home this past Saturday 72-63...KSU is no KU, but I have to believe Kansas State was watching their instate rivals on Monday...TCU's O is bad, but their D slows things down...I think KSU is looking for some BPI and RPI and maybe a borderline 4th seed...

Notre Dame -8.5 (Home Team) over St. Johns

Kansas State -21.5 (Home Team) over TCU

Akron -16 (Home Team) over Miami of Ohio

Texas Independence Day - March 2nd - 4 Plays

Ole Miss -12.5 over Mississippi St.

Rivalry Game - one motivated by the Big Dance, the other waiting mercifully for the season to end

Louisiana Tech -18.5 over San Jose St.

La Tech staunch D, low BPI motivated to get noticed; SJ lost best player earlier this month

Indiana -14.5 over Iowa

Crean has questioned his teams manhood after poor physical effort in loss to Minn; motivated by wanting to host Indi Regional; Iowa will play tough for a half; Reckless abandon by the Hoosiers...Iowa is without starting PG

Georgetown -14 over Rutgers

"Hottest Team in College Basketball" moniker could be kiss of death ATS.   GT is great at home; Rutgers lost one of its best players in Feb; GT covered at Rutgers in Feb;

At this time of year, the Big Dogs are working the seed angle; I think in front of ithe home fans La Tech, Indiana, and Georgetown will keep scoring; all three have great Defenses, are well coached, and D faciliates the O.  I think Ole Miss v Miss St is a complete missmatch; sure Miss St. will play hard for a half, but Ole Miss will step up and keep pounding a bad team in Miss St.   Like I said, Ole Miss is motivated to pound its rival to impress the NCAA selection committee.

This is my first NCAAM post...I know a lot of you plays dogs out there...I like the big favorites at this time of year....

What do you guys think?

Ga Tech is pathetic

losing at home as a 24 pt favorite to a below average SBC Team in Middle Tennessee...with 5 minutes left in the 4th MTSU 42 GT 28...

I had no faith in GT cover 24,  so I took the ML and still lost..

note to self - never ever, by any circumstance, ever place a wager on Ga Tech again...

If P Johnson was not already on the hot seat, he should be now...

Week 4 - Final Picks

PlanoLonghorn Card - Week 4
BTW - I went 1-2 ATS in Week 3, I am 6-6 ATS for the season. Not a great start, but its a long season...

LSU -20.5 over Auburn (Game at Auburn)
LSU is tired of seeing Bama destroy good teams (Mich + Ark) Auburn barely squeaked out a win against ULM. Auburn has issues. LSU will want to make a statement to the BCS in advance of the BCS rankings coming out in 2 weeks.

Prediction
LSU 45
Auburn 10

TCU -17.5 over Virginia (Game at TCU)
TCU barely cared against Kansas and it showed. Patterson said at half time he could see it in pre game, that his team was not tuned in and thought Kansas would be a cakewalk. I think TCU playing at home against UVA will wake them up...

Prediction
TCU 35
Virginia 7

Michigan State -33 over Eastern Michigan (Game at Mich St.)
Is Mich St overrated or is N Dame just that good that good. I think its a litttle of both. The O is one dimensional against good teams, but I think the humbling experience of a thorough defeat at home at night against an underrated N Dame club, will motivate the Spartans to open a can of whoop ass on Tri-Directional E Mich...

Prediction
Michigan State 49
E Michigan 3

Week 3 - Final Picks

College Football for Final Posted Picks ATS on covers - Season to Date 5-4 - 55.5%

Week 3

Texas A&M -11 over SMU

Sumlin is still looking for his first win.   The Aggies are hungry after the home Florida loss.  Big Time Talent differential in a stadium filled mostly with Aggies.

Texas A&M 35 SMU 10

TCU -21 over Kansas

First Big XII game for TCU.  Kansas coming off home loss to Rice.   TCU O ready to romp.

TCU 45 Kansas 14

Central Florida -17 over FIU

CF destroyed Akron at Akron in week 1, then played OSU a good game without Murray their #1 back.   Revenge game for CF - lost 10-17 to FIU @ FIU last year as a 6 point favorite.  Bortles seems to be a pretty good QB.  FIU struggled to beat a bottom 5 Akron at home last week winning in OT.   P Steele has CF as its #29 ranked in team in the power rankings and #15 in the overalls.    FIU seems to be missing Hilton.   I think G O'Leary and Knights finally open a can of Whoop Ass on Cristobal and teh Panthers.

Central Florida 31 FIU 10

Week 2 Performance - 1-2 ATS

Ohio St. -18 over UCF

Michigan St. -20 over Central Michigan

Arkansas St. -23.5 over Memphis

Week 2 - Final Picks

Week 2 Picks

Ohio St. -18 over UCF

Tougher matchup this week against a good UCF team, but Meyer keeps the training going...I also think there may be some former recruiting memories between Meyer and O Leary which will faciliate Meyer not taking his foot off the gas pedal, if he can.    UCF is a good team this year.  I just think OSU has a chip on its shoulderss, along with Superior Talent to win this game going away.

Ohio St. 35

UCF 10

Michigan St. -20 over Central Michigan

Sloppy O effort against an inexperienced yet underrated Boise team.    D stepped up when it counted.  Game at CM.  Mich St won 45-7 last year...I think Mich St will be extra motivated after a lackluster performance against Boise.

Mich St. 38

Central Michigan 3

Arkansas St. -23.5 over Memphis

Took on the chin at Auzen last Sat.  Oregon was up 50-10 at half time, then coasted.   Ark St covered in chump time.   New coach at Memphis Justin Fuente.   Memphis lost to FCS Tenn Martin 17-20 at home last Saturday.   Ark St won game last year in Jonesboro 47-3 as a 16 point favorite.   This year's game is also in Jonesboro, and this time with Gus Malzahn as HC.  Scott Aplin is back at QB with an experienced O at the skill positions.  I think the outcome will be similar to last years.

Ark St 45

Ohio State Football: Urban Meyer Wants Angry Players

http://chronicle.northcoastnow.com/2012/08/28/ohio-state-football-urban-meyer-wants-angry-players/

Good Article...the buckeye's were a disgrace last year...they should be pissed off...they are freaking The Ohio State University Buckeye, by gosh...and they own the State of Ohio...

I have Ohio St -23 against Miami of Ohio...I think this is a new era for Ohio State football which will be demonstrated by a dominating performance on Saturday 1 September 2012 by Ohio State...

Week 1 - Final Picks

A few weeks ago, I posted some preliminary selections...However, this morning, I actually locked in my final Week 1 Picks at Heritage...

Georgia -38

Ohio St. -23

Alabama -13 (hook)

UCLA -15 (hook)

Michigan St.-6 (hook)

Notre Dame -17

My strategy is to always buy the hook...if you have a different strategy, then that is your choice...

Let me know what you think of these "selections".  Thanks in advance.  Good Luck to all!

Interesting Article on N Dame QB situation - Perspective of Brandon Newman

http://www.news-sentinel.com/article/2012120729804

I have N Dame -14 over Navy as my 3rd ranked selection in week 1.  However, thast depends on the QB situation.   Brian Kelly seems to be intense with these QB's...maybe its old school Ara Parseghian, Bear Bryant and Woody Hayes tough love, or maybe its sadistic in this modern age.  In essense, maybe by demanding excellence, these guys will perform at a high level.   Or maybe they are scared to make a mistake, which is not good.    I think with good QB play, N Dame will cover the reasonable spread above.

I will appreciate your thoughts...
