Guru's Humpday Picks

Well, I didn't get to do my homework yesterday because how busy my schedule was, and I paid dearly for it with my first losing day of the month, going 2-5-1 -3.5 units

But today is a new day, and I had plenty of time last night and today to make some solid choices and do my homework.

3* Red Sox -1.5 +105 risking 3 to win 3.15:

Got this one last night, happy since the odd is -110 now I believe.

Not really a mystery play.  Cleveland is only batting a mere .259 against righties and .253 in night games, whereas Boston is striping the ball and batting over .290 at home and against righties.

Bullpens will also factor in....Cleveland has an ugly BP road era of 6.35, while Boston's BP at home is lights out averaging an era of 1.80

This is also a large fade of Pavano....his ERA on the road is 7.08 and is a lifetime 1-3 against the Sox with an even higher 8.18 ERA and whip of almost 2 at 1.955

Throw in the fact that Boston is 16-7 against the Tribe at home over the last 3 seasons and we have all the makings of a rout tonight.

2* Rockies/Giants under 9.5 risking 2.2 to win 2:

Think this total is slightly to high...figured it would be 9 or 8.5.

SF is only batting .228 against righties an averaging only 3.1 runs against them.
Colorado also has struggles against Lefties, only averaging around .238 off them.

The Big Unit is hot right now, both the capper and the pitcher.  He is 1.04 ERA over his last 3 starts.  He loves pitching against the Rockies and has a lifetime 19-7 record with a 2.23 ERA and an outstanding whip of .900  The under is 18-9 in RJ's starts against the rockies

Jimenez has been struggling of late, but that's why I like this spot for him to pick it up.  He is much better than he has been pitching, and is a career 1-2 against the Giants with a 2.65 ERA and whip of 1.045 which is also very impressive.  The under is 5-1 in Jimenez's starts against the Giants.

Be back with more picks and writeups soon.

Good luck today Guru. I like the Bosox play. Went 3-1 yesterday with the Dbacks my only loss. Shoulda known to bet against the Dodgers. I like Cincy to inch closer to .500 at home and i like the rangers to beat up Dan Giese. Betting the under in any Giants game is a safe bet these days. If they ever got a a solid bat they might be able to contend for Wild card.

Adding two more.  Going to be a lot of action tonight.

1* Yanks/Rays under 10 +100 risking 1 to win 1:  Ya ya ya, Yankees new stadium, bad pitchers lately, all that jazz.

I say F that.  Burnett risks losing the Yankee faithful with a poor performance tonight.  Both pitchers have nice whip of 1.15 or lower against ther opponent.  Yanks lost another bat in Posada....so I'll go against the grain on this one.

2* White Sox ML -115 risking 2.3 to win 2:  Galaragga owned them last time, but this will be the second time seeing him in less than 3 weeks.

hey Guru,

you also make a 2* on the UNDER 1st 5 innings SOX/TIGERS because of the strong pitching matchup between Galaraga and Buerhle......which is the stronger play - SOX or UNDER?

IMO, the under is the better play.

Like the Boston 1.5 line. I'll take that one. My pick of the day is Mets/Philly Over 4-1/2 for the first 5 innings. Johan pitching so points will come from Mets bench.

We got rocked on the Reds Ash.

Stupid rain delays, always the game I have the most action on.

Adding:

Dodgers -1.5 risking 2 to win 2.1
Diamondbacks risking 1 to win 1.45
