UFC 110 Plays. At least one 10-star play!

YTD Record:
Overall: 14-10, +21.10 units
UFC: 10-9, +13.35 units
WEC: 1-1, +1.65 units
Strikeforce: 3-0, +6.1 units
Final 2009 Record: 80-82-1, +23.75 Units

As I had expected, I did not have the greatest UFC 109 day, going 2-5 but loosing only 1+ units, as I hit my big plays on Serra and Thiago, while loosing all of my degenerate action.

I have been salivating over this UFC 110 card for awhile now.  As I said in my UFC 109 forum, I had atleast one 10 unit/star play for this card.  I might actually have two!!!

For those of you who have been following me for awhile now, you will know that it is very rare that I release a 10 unit/star play.  Last year, I went 2-2 for plus money, cashing in on two nice dogs when Dan Hardy cashed against Marcus Davis and Vitor Belfort destroyed Rich Franklin.  My two lossess, both awful plays in hindsight, were Rashad Evans vs Machida, and Rumble Johnson vs Kos.

I have bounced hitting my first two 10 star plays, with my parlay of Kampmann over Volkmann and Dos Santos over Yvel at UFC 108, and Amir Sadollah over Blackburn at UFN 20.

For UFC 110, my first of potentially two 10 star/unit plays is:

1.  Ryan Bader (-150) over Keith "The Not So Dean of Mean" Jardine.  Risking 10 units to win 6.7 units.

I have decided to lock in on this one know.  I see lines anywhere from -145 to -155 depending on the book, and I believe this line will continue to rise as the week moves on.

Jardine has lost 4 of his last 6 fights, and other than his loss against Rampage, has not really looked all that great.  He has also been knocked out in 3 of those 4 losses.  That does not bold well fighting someone with the power of Bader.  Although Bader looked shacky at times against Eric Schafer last time out, he did weather the storm and came from behind to win the fight.  At this point in time, I think Schafer will prove to have been a more challenging fight than Jardine will be.  Although Jardine's takedown defence is solid, I feel that Bader can and will take this fight to the ground if the opportunity presents itself.  He will not stand there and let Jardine kick him to death.  If not, I have a lot of confidence in Bader's striking game, and see him knocking Jardine out at some point in this fight.  I really love Bader's agressiveness in the cage, which is one "must" criteria when deciding whether a fight falls into my 10 star category.

I will be back the rest of the plays as the week progresses.

Changes to the UFC 100 Card, according to UFC.com.

Rothwell is being replaced by Anthony Perosh and Elvis Sinosic has forced the cancellation of his rematch with countryman Chris Haseman

Should have said UFC 110.

I should have my plays finalized soon...

At least one, perhaps two more 10 star plays to go along with Bader.

UPDATED PLAYS:

1.  Ryan Bader (-150) over Keith "The Not So Dean of Mean" Jardine.  Risking 10 units to win 6.7 units.

2.  The 2nd ten star/unit play is on Antonio Minotauro Nogueira (-110) over Cain Velasquez.  Risking 11 units to win 10 units.

3.  The 3rd ten star/unit play is on Krzysztof Soszynski (-187.5) over Stephan Bonnar.  Risking 10 units to win 5.35 units.

4.  Wanderlai Silva (-150) over Michael "I Can Count???" Bisping.  Risking 3 units to win 2 units.

5.  Underdog Play of the Night.  Brian Foster (+130) over Chris Lytle.  Risking 2 units to win 2.6 units.

I will probably be back with some degenerate action closer to bell time.

I don't have time for more detailed analysis at the moment.  I am going to out most of the day at Olympic events, but will try to respond to any questions later, time permitting.

BOL to everyone with your plays!!!

If Jardine looked more like Jake Shields, he would have been canned a long time ago.  I really like Bader in this fight.  Jardine is definitely his toughest test so far, but Bader is still the better fighter.

GL man, on the same side for all except Nog.  It'll be interesting to see what happens if Bonnar loses this fight (even though Dana says he'll never cut him)...

FINAL CARD:

Degenerate Action Plays:

6.  3 Fighter Degenerate  Parlay of Joe Daddy of George S., Cro Cop over Anthony Perosh and James Te Huna over Igor Pokrajac.  Risking 2 units to win 3.35 units.

7.  CB Dolloway (+190) over Goran Reljic.  Risking 1 unit to win 1.9 units.  It is normally profitable to fade fighters who have been off as long as Reljic has.  If Dolloway survives round 1, he will have a shot of pulling this one out.

BOL to everyone with your plays!!!

Bonnar is best known for:

1. Getting pounded on for 3 rounds by Griffin.

2.  Getting his a$$ kicked for 3 rounds by 568 year old Mark Coleman!!!

LOL!!!

I just got back from the olympics and saw the Big Nog - Cain fight.  One word, yikes!!!

I have read the results, and it looks like I got 6 of the 9 fights right, but just 4-3 on the plays, and up +0.95 units for the night.  Definitely a disappointing night, as I had much higher expectations, but I will take it.

Hey AussieMade,  I am happy to hear you were able to get tickets to the event.  I hear it sold out in near record time!!!

There is nothing like seeing the UFC live!!!  I have seen the UFC live twice in Las Vegas (UFC 92 and 106).  TV does not always do it justice.

I have now seen all 9 fights from the Aussie show, and the crowd seemed awsome, and into every fight!!!  George S. really had a strong showing.  His standup looked much better than it did when I saw him at UFC 106 against Jason Dent.  I can't believe how he dominated Joe Daddy on the ground like that!!!

I was also happy to see Wanderlai bounce back and look so good.  He is definitely one of my all time favourites!!!

Any early leans? This looks to be one of the better cards betting wise in a while to me. I posted in another thread that I am really, really liking (liked) Alves at his opening price of -110 (anywhere up to -140), Almeida, and Ellenberger. I am also loving a GSP inside the distance + Jim Miller parlay @ -125.

Dont forget about the UFC on Versus card (a few days before ufc 111) that should be really good with my boys Bones Jones, and JDS. Liking Jones itd +250
MR219 says:

I agree with Doc, it is a little too early to be thinking about UFC 110, and I really do not have any early leans yet.  Training camps are still underway, potential for injuries, etc.  A lot of the key information I evaluate normally surfaces during the week leading into the fight.

I think it will be interesting to hear more about what is going on in GSP's camp in the weeks to come.  He has spent a lot of time recently talking about trying out for Team Canada Wrestling at the next olympics.  It would appear that he has backed off from this stance, however, it was still a distraction that could have an impact...

I have always been a big Dan Hardy fan, cashing in on every single one of his UFC victories to date.  We have not really seen him in any kind of trouble on the ground to date.  It will be intersting to see how he reacts when he is faced with this predicament.

The next set of fights that I will be working on will probably be the WEC card on March 6.  Although there is a Strikeforce Challengers Cup event on the 26th, and some Japanese MMA coming up as well, these shows are always , so I normally don't touch them.

MR219 says:
02/24/10 07:13PM

Hey Doc, we talked about this fight back on my UFC 109 post.  This is what I said back then:

"I have not really thought too much about that fight yet.  However, keep in mind that 2 of Jones 3 UFC victories were by decision.  Like I said before his fight with Hammil, I was very concerned that Jones was not able to put away stiffs like Andre Gusmao and Stephen Bonnar.  Vera has only been stopped once in the UFC and that was way back in June 2008 against Werdum.  If you are leaning towards Jones to win, then it might very well be by decision."

My stance on this really has not changed to much.  Vera is tough to finish and Jones has not been able to finish fights against mediocre competition.  Yes, he overwhelmed Hammil, but Hammil is not known for his striking, he is known for his wrestling.  This will be Jones' first real test against a fighter who is technically solid on his feet.  Although Jones might win the fight, I definitely would no endorse laying significant units on Jones to win by decision.

TheDoctor195 says:

I agree that Jones has had a hard time finishing his opponents in the UFC.  Thats why this play will be a small play just for the value, however I will play Jones large.
MR219 says:
02/24/10 09:07PM

My lack of sleep is starting to catch up with me.  The 2nd bolded statement above should have read "Although Jones might win the fight, I definitely would not endorse laying significant units on Jones to win inside the distance.

MR219 says:
02/24/10 09:08PM

Jones to win, period, is probably the safer play.  I am still trying to determine if Vera has a shot in this fight...

MR219 says:
02/25/10 12:32AM

I have no doubt that GSP will be ready for this fight, both physically and mentally.  I just hate when fighters talk about other ventures before a fight.  It is typically fade material for me.  However, I agree, that if  GSP is able to get Hardy down, he will probably finish the fight.

Has there been any prop lines posted for this fight?  What is the line for this fight not to go the distance?  You might find better value with this play than a straight play on GSP, as I doubt this fight goes the distance.  It will end with either a GSP GnP or submission victory, or a Hardy KO victory...

gsprush says:
02/24/10 11:15PM
MR219, call it pre-fight triteness, but GSP is "training hard as if [he's] the challenger." Any talk of Olympic dreams will have no effect.

I like him within 10 minutes. It took Marcus Fucking Davis 90 seconds to MOUNT Hardy. That alone does portend well for him . Not to mention, Gono landed hands all day on him. Even if he was distracted by Olympic hopes - he's not - this will be elementary. Also, GSP has said that he's "not pleased" with his recent performances (lol) and wants a "spectacular" finish against Hardy.
