Is there a more screwed franchise in pro sports than...

the Toronto Blue Jays?    You live in a division with two payrolls which regularly exceed the gross domestic products of most sub-Saharan countries, the most useless franichise in recent MLB history decides to get good overwnight, and now even the Angelos- (mis)led Orioles appear to have enough young talent to make a serious run over the next few years.  Unless MLB creates an American League - Canadian Division, where the hell does that leave the Jays for, oh, the next decade or so?

What about Baltimore?  They have to improve by a ton just to get by the Jays....then they have to start worrying about NY and Boston.

Pittsburgh Pirates are worse off because everytime they have a talented player they get rid of him and give up on the season.

And they have a nice park too.

Fair point, Hutch.    At least with the O's, though, you can sort of see the pieces coming together.   That said, i'd probably rather be owned by damn near anyone other than Angelos, so perhaps O's fans are the more screwed.

Screwing yourself over doesn't count. I'm looking at PNC Park at his very moment.  It's lovely.

baseball is just an unfair sport.  until there is ever a salary cap this will always be how it is.  if your complaining in toronto its cause you dont have enough fans, enough money to get better players.  Which is sad considering hockey season is over and you guys dont really even have any other sports.  well i guess maybe cfl.  if your not gonna sell out the stadium and pay for seats then u arent gonna have much of a franchise.  That is why the florida marlins are the most impressive baseball franchise ever.   winning two world series with their salary was a miracle and they did it. so there is hope for u still.
