Friday LIVE thread (cash prize inside)

I'm starting what should become a 20 page long live thread.

I will pay $15 to anyone who
- makes a great pick (both favorites and underdogs may apply),
- posts a great 'inside type' info (such as the malisse mother's disease) - obviously, before the lines are OTB for the relevant match, or
- just makes the best joke or posts a great - tennis-related - picture that makes me smile.

Yes, I will be the one to decide who wins and when. Yes, I am THIS vain. And yes, I actually think this might work, since - not many realize this - there are 50 times more lurkers than posters on this forum (hello Mack and TennisCapper :)

P.S. Anyone who posted/lurked the WNBA forum last season might remember MuggsyBogues' Exact Score Contest. I ended up paying out over $350 to the prize winners - Bucheron666, rhino5542 and boyboy. I'm good for the money. $15 is definitely worth being an author of the greatest f*cking tennis thread of the week.

Payment to be made via moneybookers or pokerstars/fulltiltpoker transfer no later than WCOOP event #1 on Pokerstars kicks off on Monday.

This must be the dumbest thing ever.

It could only happen to the player I totally unloaded on (future to win US Open before the tournament started)

To quote one of the greatest movies of all time,

Soap:

I'd take a pain in the arse for half a million quid.

Tom:

You'd take a pain in the arse for air miles.

You can score a point towards winning the contest by quickly replying what movie this is.

Yep, the kid I'm against did it. I still clapped (yes, I'm sitting in front of the computer in my undies, all by myself, and my money is against him!).

Unbelievable shot. It should easily make the highlight reel of the day.

Stosur looks invincible.

AND her shades are cool

Errani just served a double fault. Upon hawkeye review the ball was shown to have missed the line by at least 7-8 inches.

WINDY!!!!!

MuggsyBogues says:
09/03/10 12:28PM

This was THE failed reverse jinx post of the day so far.

Errani gets to deuce from 0-40 serving at *3-4 (I posted #13 at 0-30). Ms Cool Shades drops four straight points - advantage Errani who I have a wager on - to then win four of the next six points and break the serve.

Serving for the match now.

She's an awesome player. Errani is out of her league.

Stakhovsky is getting on my nerve. Good thing is I ended up having a huge chunk on him due to inplay bets, average odds of +102. I hope he can go back to playing cat and mouse and let Ryan implode.

Does anyone know how many 5 set matches Ryan played in his short career, if any?
MuggsyBogues says:

only a minute later 'good thing' is no longer so good

0-40 on sergiy's serve

Bacon: Don't knock it, it's CHEEEAP like the budgie...and nobody wants to live next to the people we live next to....

Favorite movie maybe ever, Lock Stock&Two Smoking Barrels is one of the greatest movies ever made. Guy Ritchie is a genius.

Was there actually a rain delay in any of the matches? I'm following on bet365 and it seems like there was a really short one?

Oh wow you guys watching simon match? A great rally in the first point of his service game at *4-3.. he ended up out of position getting lobbed... and half-jokingly tossed his racket up ... but it was pretty damn close to actually colliding with the ball (that he had no shot in hell of reaching in a conventional way - holding the racket in his hand lol)

I wonder if the racket got there... would he win the point???

current state of the US Open (mens):

there are 4 americans left...Roddick is out...Blake is in

when nadal gets done beating istomin there will be NINE Spaniards left...that's over 1/4 of the remaining players...i would expect something like that at the french...but at the US Open!?
seems like all the clay guys are rolling

The other country dominating is France, with 6 still standing
underDOGGIE says:

is the ggl vs almagro and simon vs kohlschreiber match going on time?
