WTF is Brian Burke smoking?

Yeah Rafalski and Parise and Langenbrunner had nothing to do with the win and they were all terrible. What a f*cking idiot

While most everyone around Team USA is celebrating Sunday's win over Canada, GM Brian Burke has thrown cold water on the "Minor Miracle on Ice."

"I'm not happy with the way we played,'' Burke told SeattlePI.com. "If that's how we play, we're going to have a hard time getting where we want to be."

Goaltender Ryan Miller made 42 saves in the 5-3 win over Canada that gave the USA the top seed in the single-elimination medal tournament.

"Except for the goaltender position, we did not deserve it," Burke said. "But that's why we brought him. That's not going to work in the next round. We know it.''

Team USA will play the winner of the Belarus-Switzerland qualifying game.

"I am not pleased with how we played to this point," Burke said. "Unless we crank it up, this will all be for naught.''

This is classic Brian Burke.  He's brash, honest, and the best GM in the business.

He pulls this trick all of the time...he's trying to deflect the media attention off his players and on to himself in order to protect them.

If the Americans get to the semis, look for Burke to drop another bomb that gets the media and the public buzzing.

He would rather see a scrum of 50 reporters around himself, rather than 50 reporters blowing around him locker room bugging the shit out of his players...and following his players all over Vancouver.

The best? Hardly. He's won how many cups? One with the ducks with a defense that was a gift from God. Scott Neidermayer wanted to play with his brother and Pronger and the wifey wanted out of Edmonton.

I mean he's really good. Just not the best by my count.

He's a smart hockey man and understands the game.  He knows excactly who won the game for his team and his name is RYAN MILLER and nobody else.  He's right if the team plays that way again and doesn't get the same goaltending from Miller,  USA is history plain and simple.  I think he is just reitorating excaclty what all Canadians have been saying in these threads all along. up Mr Burke.

Brian Burke is an extremely bright GM and in my opinion used this as a motivational tactic to keep Team U.S.A. alert. He just doesn't want his team to get too overconfident and slide into complaceny especially going into the quarterfinals. NJ,Devils, Burke knows what he's doing.

Sounds like good coaching.

I believe he should keep his team focused... The win was a good one.... They must realize that it will only be important if Canada loses another game before the gold......

Keep the team on their toe's without singling anyone out.... Team perspective and an incredible effort is what U.S. will need next time.... To say nothing about goaltending and intensity.........

P.S.   It did seem like the NJ Devils player's were having a great time showing Marty a thing or twol..... They were shooting the puck at him from every angle possible........ It was funny......
