Dustin Brown

Funny world huh? The silly Kings did everything they could to trade this guy at the trade deadline. And the silly everyone else in the league that offered them nothing reasonable for him.

That's how close the Kings were to not even making the playoffs. They would not have made the big late run without him leading them down the stretch, and they would have been clowned out of these playoffs without him.

The guy is the new ultimate warrior as far as I'm concerned. Built for the playoffs through and through. An ultimate leader who can do it all. And more importantly does do it all.

And the only reason he is even still a King is because everyone else in the league offered crap back when the Kings were trying to off load him, because they thought Mike Richards could be their new leader.

What a massive mistake that would have been. Richards is a very talented hockey player but he is no leader imo. If your Captain is too selfish to even stay sober for a few weeks for the good of the team, that is no fucking leader. That is a selfish spoiled little prick with attitude. He is great in the role he is in now with the Kings though.

With just one phone call, the whole hockey world would have been looking so much different right now. If the Kings win the Cup and Brown does noy get the Conn Smythe then there should be criminal charges laid on someone. Man do I wish that guy was on my team.

As Dustin Brown goes, so go the Kings.

Why Richards and Carter had to go

Mike Richards is the sole reason Jeff Carter was not traded two seasons ago when the Flyers organization was fed up with his softness and constant Walt Disney On Ice show.

Richards fought tooth and nail and whined like the little bitch everyone here on covers constantly accuses him of being to keep them from trading his buddy. This time around the organization would not give in as they should not have. If they had kept Richards after trading Carter he just would have moped and whined like the spoiled rotten little kid that he is and had an even worse season this year then he did last, mind you I don't know if that's possible as he was non existent for most of this past season both on the scoreboard and as the leader he was supposed to be.

Carter: Love the deal. When Carter was not scoring he didn't bring a ton more to the table. He has that gifted goal scoring shot but the grit of a slice of sponge cake, not to mention a body apparently made of glass. I never saw him step up in any of the bigger games for the Flyers during his time there.

The Flyers have always drafted great with their incredible scouting system so there is reason to be excited for an 8th overall pick which is higher than Carter was to begin with and add in the 68th overall and I'm already down with it. Voracek is loaded with scoring potential, is 21 years old and a 7th overall pick himself I believe. Surrounded with a gang of balanced off... [More]

I saw faceoff trying to post a link for Ovechkins cheap shots. Here are more than a few including even one on an unsuspecting Swiss player in international play. Don't attack the messenger, just posting the link that another poster had trouble posting. My feelings have been voiced on this matter in the past here.

Most Underrated Player In The NHL

Just have more free time than usual today and decided to make it a me day so have some time on my hands. With that said just for fun I would like to hear/read anyones opinion of who the most under rated player in the nhl is...Here is mine

Blair Betts....And no this is not just since he has played with Philly. I have always had a ton of respect for this guys multi dimensional game in which he displays a high level of talent and hockey intellect no matter what situation he is thrust into or where in the game he is or winning or losing. If you ever just watch this guy from one end to the other and he goes 100 percent full out one end to the other constantly you will never or at least you will be hard pressed to ever find this guy making a bad decision or being out of position. I will not call him the best penalty killer in the NHL but will say he only has peers doing that cause no one does it better, Not a prolific goal scorer but with the puck on his stick he knows what to do with it and can find the back of the net. Finally my fave quality in a player he plays with no fear ever.

Hope to hear some other selections, info optional, you can just toss a name out there if you want.

Oh no goalies though this is for hockey players...lol

The Final Act Take 5

Game 4: Detroit/Pitt Over 5.5  240/200               Detroit/Pitt OT           40/130              Detroit ml                 100/130   +60       Series +785   Game 5: Detroit ml 160/100               Detroit pl  40/74   More to come here but as you see I am siding with the champs as I think they respond here in full force not just for the loss but for the embarrassing way in which they played a large part of a very big game.   Not taking anything away from Pitt who played great and created alot of that negative play by Detroit and fully deserved the victory but with that said Pitt did not create ALL of those very uncharacteristic turnovers and all that (at times) very lazy play by Detroit and it is not the first time I have seen that from the Wings as they often IMO get too arrogant and lazy and they are playing a very solid and talented hockey team that can and will make them pay for such transgressions and sometimes a man has to have his legs broken in order to learn how to fly again and these men do have Wings that fly like not many I have seen ... Tuesday POD

Last result: Detroit/Calgary Over 6 -120   120/100      Despite having 2 goals pulled out of the net due to premature whistles last night we still hopped over the total by 2 goals and cashed our over as it hit over with half a period to spare.      A team that has won 5 wagers in a row for me (4 wins and 1 under) and 2 of these current pod plays the Anaheim Ducks are back on the docket as they travel into Nashville for what is for all intent purposes a playoff game.   The Ducks sit 1 point back of 8th spot which is being held by Nashville. The two met last week with the Ducks pulling out a 4-3 ot win but they did dominate a little more than the score would suggest albeit on the pond. The Preds are tough at home but the Ducks also travel very well and they have been surging lately and I see no point in standing in there way here against a Pred team that will still be without their captain again and really looking a little worn lately, just a little, while the Ducks look rejuvenated. I expect a close hard fought tilt so this is not for the faint of heart but in this playoff type game I will be riding the playoff type team in my opinion with all the guys that have been there so many times before.  We are getting great value here with what I feel to be the better hockey team due to home ice that will not mean as much in this situation with what is on the line and a revenge angle for the Preds for last we... Jay Bouwmeester To Flyers?

Jacques Martin was in attendance in philly for the kings/flyers game wednesday night and apparently will be back in attendance friday night for the habs/flyers tilt. The two names being tossed around on the philly side in an either/or fashion are Joffrey Lupul and Matt Carle. The panthers know he is leaving at the end of the season as he has made that pretty clear so they do need to deal him or see him walk and get nothing back. A little side note for those unaware is that Jacques Martin and Bob Clarke are very good friends off the ice so this does make alot of sense.
Glen Metropolit and Ossi Vaanen have been placed on waivers and either Claude Giroux or Darrel Powe will be sent down, all to make room for the return of Briere either friday night or sunday afternoon against the Devils.....I am loving the Bouwmeister Possiblity! Amazing fit and another strong playoff piece, now if he could only play net! LOL
